Brock Lesnar Ends The Undertaker’s Wrestlemania Streak At 21-1

Brock Lesnar beat The Undertaker at Wrestlemania 30 to end the streak at 21-1.

The bout was very slow and while it had some good false finishes, there wasn’t enough in between to engage the audience. Lesnar got blown up early, profusely sweating and gasping for air.

Undertaker got all of his trademark moves in, hitting old school and his vintage leg drop on the ring apron. He locked in Hell’s Gate and landed the Tombstone. To finish Undertaker, Lesnar gave him three F-5s before pinning him for the shocking three count.

The crowd seemed genuinely shocked this is how WWE chose to end it. They turned, shouting “bullshit” but paid respect to Undertaker when he got up. The announcers played up this was it for Undertaker and gave him a standing ovation as he left the ring.

If you want my reaction, here it is:

Below is a photo of Undertaker’s iconic entrance:

Here was Lesnar’s entrance with Paul Heyman:

Am I the only one who thinks this wasn’t actually supposed to happen?

    • Razmos

It was, Undertaker on Raw tomorrow will say he is done only for Sting to come out and challange him to one last match, its one anyone can win now that the streak is done

    • TTT

They got sick of the CM Punk and Daniel Bryan chants, so they decided to send an FU to everyone.

    • ryan

No. I think taker was supposed to kick out but jus didnt have it in him

      • Gg

        Yes yes yes

  • D.L.

    So that’s why Punk left…

  • bob

I know, but come on hes 49 yrs old, This is his retirment statement, the man seriously needs to retire.

  • George

    Lesnar doesn’t deserve this….

  • jason witten 82

    Im shocked…just wow…

  • Mr. Gray

would have rather seen punk end the streak!!!!

  • Radical Rex

    I don’t even…there are no words

  • Sylvir

Instead of giving the streak to someone who could possibly build a career off of it, they give it to this %#*@??? Way to drop the ball yet again wwe.

    • bryan

      Roman reigns

  • Tim M

Totally killed us in the arena. Terrible decision.

    • john

the section we were in went totally dead. it sucked and it looked like a botched spot, the group next to us actually walked out after taker walked out.

  • andy

Wow, that was insane of a shock :O i dont even know what i can say now, just wow.

  • Draven

Cant believe it. For the first time in 20years of watching wwe they actually litetally made my mouth fall open.

    • ron

That is what they wanted. IT WORKED. Vince said he wanted surprises tonight

  • keith

Complete disbelief. And now this divas train wreck . Just no

  • http://www.braysballtalk.com/ Aaron Giddens

It could have been anyone but Lesner. Lesner is a joke and didn’t deserve such an honor.

  • Curtis

that was the worst mistake WWE could make. It does not benifit anyone. This is how WWE treats a true legend wow just wow

  • Cabe Chaffin

the only explanation i will accept is that taker was hurt and physically didnt have it in him

  • Siouxguy79

No one deserves that honor!!!!! I want to give HHH, Steph and Vince a big FU!!!!!!

  • bryan

wwe killed the mystique of the undertaker the streak should have never ended. But if it had to it should have went to someone more deserving not a part timer at the end of his own career

  • Zack

I get the feeling Taker wanted this. Gotta respect that.

  • Michael

Super sketchy. VINCE KILLED THE CROWD

    • dani

      not vince its all hhh

      • Alexi

No it’s Vince he has the final say

  • Sylvir

That was so bad I think it gave me cancer.

    • Sylvir is a p.r.i.c.k

Can this comment be removed, Richard?

  • Stoney

It’s like Vince wants people to stop watching WWE

  • AB

Just terrible. Deserved a better match and an opponent with more respect for the business, someone who’ll be around to benefit from it. Respect to Undertaker for the decision but…man. So disappointing.

  • Dustyn

I’m pissed this happened, nothing else to say! But things do happen for a reason. What that reason is, I haven’t a clue.

    • Johnnie Li

Lesnar now full time? Thought he wanted a champoinship reign in the near future.

      • Dustyn

That could very well be the case, maybe till Summerslam?

  • LeJohnDary

He was out since the first F5 to me.

  • Whammaster

Taker wanted to lose, but WHY TO LESNER. It has ZERO logic =(

    • Alan

lesnar is takers best friend in real life that is why

      • Mysterion

Talk about not knowing the business.

  • Sylvir

I would have been much happier if the Brooklyn Brawler ended the streak.

  • Harlie Boucher

I can’t believe this. This made a great PPV into into a horrible one.

  • D.Nyte

In case no one was paying attention, Taker was giving instructions to Lesnar leading into their final spot…before the conspiracy theorist simpletons start postulating various accounts of what ‘may’ have happened, understand, this was the plan, albeit questionable, but we all have to live with it and move forward. The bigger FU to everyone from WWE would be if D-Bry doesn’t go over..then and only then is it time to question what’s going on.

    • Mysterion

You are aware in EVERY match the guys call the spots in the ring?

  • xXx

It was predictable Hint: Wrestlemania 30

  • Avalanchian

Well this all but assures people that Undertaker is retiring. Because now he’s worthless to the WWE.

    • opie

Worthless? One of the greatest of all time, worthless?

  • Alexi

This makes no sense as Brock is already established I don’t get it, talk about killing a certified draw (Taker’s streak). Not to mention Brock isn’t exactly young and is a damn part-timer dumb just dumb, talk about an FU to the fans. Vince really needs to retire and just go away he’s obviously senile. Hell woul’ve made more sense if Reigns had ended it

  • Mek

dizzy, emptiness, confused…. I just cant understand why someone like Lesnar. This already killed my week as I know I will be thinking about it everyday. Would’ve prefered HBK or HHH 100000 times. Cant find other word but dissapointment

  • BIG M

I honestly don’t know what to say.
I guess this could be considered his retirement match.
But still I can’t believe they ended the streak.

  • I Will Bury You

If you think this is bad just wait sadly i got a weird feeling bryan is gonna lose tonight.

  • Rojelio kennamer

I mean, there has been a lot going on since the win, and before the end. So many people were talking about a possibility of Lesnar doing it this year. In 2010, Taker proposed to him to break the streak. Lesnar thought this was a joke and declined it. I mean, was Taker thinking this? Most people don’t know, but in the past, they’ve had a strong rivalry. Lesnar beat Taker at his own game over 10 years ago. Also, there is a photo of Lesnar, Taker, and Vince standing next to eachother. Lastly, Taker was at UFC as a watcher and him and Lesnar stared eachother down. Was this possibly a sign that Lesnar was going to beat Taker tonight? I am a Lesnar fan and a Taker fan. I went for Lesnar in this match, but most people said this. I quote, “obviously Taker will win”. I kind of accepted that quote, but I went internet article reading. Taker is almost 50! He is 49 now! He has so much pain and has gone through many surgerys! This was a kind of a good way to end the streak if you knew about everything I said above. Yet it makes no sense. Punk can’t beat Taker, yet, he can beat Lesnar. Same for Triple H! Triple H did more at Mania 27 than Lesnar at this mania! More finishers and everything. Remember what Hunter did to Taker at mania 27? Hell was unleashed! And I thought Hunter was going to end it all! He pulled off 2 pedigrees, and a tombstone in 8mns! Yet, Taker kicked out. I mean, this is kind of shocking for me, but at least Lesnar got his edge back from 2003. Or on the other hand, this all could of been a mistake. Taker is an old man. He states that in all of his matches above 2010, he had to fight the pain in it from a surgery that not even the doctors wanted to do. So Taker has been living with this pain. Remember after the match, Taker struggled to get up? Well, this could lead to something else! Was Taker really supposed to kick out? It makes sense if you look at it! A poor storyline was developed which makes this more intruging for us fans. And lets not forget, Take has had all those surgerys and still fights the pain. Did Taker somehow in a coincidence have the pain come to him. This would make Taker be unable to kick out. Which had a shock on Heyman’s face (or he could’ve just been playing role). Was all of this necessary. Yeah, 30th anniversary. I mean, Cena beat Lesnar! And Punk beat both of these two fair and square. I’m not a Punk fan, but I’m just stating. He has good mic skills and character though. And Lesnar beat Taker. Most people thought it was right for the streak to stay alive, end by Sting, or end by Cena. You might say “what about Goldberg”. Lets not forget! Goldberg has no streak anymore. This is forgotten guys! He lost his streak to Kevin Nash at WCW’s Starrcade PPV. This is just very arguable! This was the ending of a legendary man. The true end of an era. The only man to lose a streak in wrestling to a UFC fighter. Brock Lesnar, a guy who went to the top in his WWE debut, to the end of it in his return, has done the shocking. AND HE DEFEATED THE STREAK! SOMETHING NO MAN CAN SAY THEY EVER DID. I can keep going on, but let me end this. This could’ve all been known from the start from the clues I just provided, or this could’ve all been a mistake of agony and pain that Taker couldn’t fight. I’m a real wrestling fan. And I was just speechless when this happened. Thanks for reading. R.I.P Mark Calaway 21-1. Brock Lesnar 2-2. Oh yeah. I find it ironic how he lost to Goldberg and Triple H at mania, yet he beat Angle who beat Taker. And, Bryan beat Mania at Mania 30. XD XD XD XD XD XD XD. What the heck is the creative team thinking? Don’t they learn from the past? Thanks for reading.

  • Stoney

Daniel Bryan winning wasn’t enough to save the show

  • Lebron James

Why would Undertaker agree to this? This is the worst thing that’s ever happened in professional wrestling. Still in shock.

  • Caesar

    Eat. Sleep. Bullsheet.

  • Atman

That was a terrible buildup and a terribly boring match. How could a legend go away like that? Lost to a part timer in the worst match ever. Brock didn’t deserve it!

  • Morgan “The Retro Goat” Hench

I’ll say it again. i wouldn’t have minded Lesnar beating the Streak if that had been a good match. The match just kinda sucked.

    • Atman

totally agree. It didn’t kinda suck but utterly sucked. It was so predictable, except the end.

      • frenchfry

that doesnt even mean anything. how can a match be predictable “except for the end”? What?

        • Atman

the moves were predictable (like undertaker powebombing the opponent off the turnbuckle corner and doing the Hell’s gate) … but I wasn’t expecting the ending.

  • Marvz West

this was horribly shocking. im so pissed i cant even say much.. just wow. the match was not even that good for it to have ended this way.

  • Dustyn

I posted this in another post or two, but I’m putting it here too. If tonight you were happy, excited, sad, crying, angry, or pissed off, then WWE did their job. They did what they set out to do. They entertained us, they played with our emotions, and gave us memories (one in particular) that we will NEVER forget.

    • Cubed56

Absolutely. Everyone needs to relax, this is a pre-determined entertainment business. This was Taker’s decision, and only his, and in an entertainment business, I’d say he knocked this one out of the park, judging by everyone’s reactions/overreactions on the web and social media.

  • Dave

After thinking about it, I don’t think vince would end the streak without the approval of taker. taker knew his days were numbered, i always imagined the streak staying in tact, but at the same time as long as the streak is in tact we expect the undertaker every year. this may have been undertaker’s way of officially retiring. hopefully brock stays around for a while, otherwise this will be harder to swallow. thanks taker for making me a wrestling fan.

  • Atman

what disappointed me was not the fact that Taker lost but he lost in the most boring and unconvincing match to a part-timer that didn’t deserve it. =(

  • Dustyn

What I would like to see happen tomorrow on RAW is this. Near the end of the show, Undertaker would come out, doing his entrance as usual, and enter the ring. He would talk about what happened at WM30. He would talk about other highlights of his career. He would get to the point of announcing his retirement. Just as he is about to get the words out, Sting makes his debut. Sting challenges Undertaker to one last match at WM31 next March. This would be the start of a year long build, to the last match of both Sting and Undertaker.

    • Steve pritchard

I agree . I didn’t like this idea for a match at first. But now that the streak is over . It makes very good sense to give them both they’re farewell match.

      • Bob’s Diner

It also would actually add some intrigue – before it was a guranteed win for Undertaker. Now? Who knows who would win…

    • Ashley

And now why would we care? I don’t care to see Taker lose again at WM and it would make no sense for him to win having lost this year. I never really watched WCW and absolutely never watch TNA so Sting doesn’t mean as much to me as he does to others. And you want a build between two part timers? Cena and Rock worked cuz Cena was always there. And they had twitter which continued on throughout the year.

  • Steve pritchard

I hated it was to lesnar. But I knew he wouldn’t be able to retire until the streak was over. We would just expect him every year. Maybe him and sting have they’re swan song next year.

  • Cubed56

Everyone needs to stop pissing and moaning about this. Taker deciding to drop the streak at the 30th anniversary of WM was brilliant. Take a deep breath everyone, you should all be over this soon, hopefully you are already.

    • Bob’s Diner

It was the biggest swerve of the night. People are always complaining they want surprises, and that was the biggest one they could get. So they all complain. I for one am glad I saw it happen.

Everyone is too busy complaining to acknowledge the amazing reaction of Paul Heyman when Lesnar got the 3 count

  • D

unbelievable…if they were gonna end the streak, they should’ve let Punk do it last year instead of having a part-time talent do it. Taker deserved to retire with that streak. Looks like I’ll be following WWE alot less from now on.

    • Cubed56

Ive seen so many people say Taker deserved to retire with that streak. Why did he “deserve” to retire with the streak?

      • Ashley

Why do you think he didn’t deserve it?

        • Cubed56

Im not necessarily saying he doesn’t deserve it, but there is nothing that sticks out to me that makes me feel he ABSOLUTELY deserved to retire with it either. All the greats have passed the torch so to speak, why should he be any different?

    • Gio

One thing i know is certain is that the WWE did the right thing, with Brock, i’ve accepted that now after thinking about it. Brock went undefeated in High School wrestling, he won the NCAA wrestling championship for heavyweights, in WWE he was the youngest Undisputed WWE champion and beat THE ROCK for the title, when he went to UFC, he beat a legend in Randy Couture to win the UFC heavyweight Championship, and now he BEAT THE STREAK. I believe that he was given this honor to prove that achieves everything he sets out to do in Wrestling.

      • David F.

I dont have problem with Brock ending the streak but why make him lose to Cena and Triple H and build a piss poor feud with Taker leading to match. Brock should have been undefeated also going into Taker match. Also even though I dont like Cena he should have been the one to end the streak if it was going to be full time guy.

        • Gio

I agree with 100% that the build was piss poor, and I wish someone else did it but if Cena did it he would become the ultimate heel, until he gets his part timer contract in his late 50s

  • Winnipeg

My girlfriend’s out there somewhere cheating on me and all I can think about is Undertaker

    • Cubed56

Lol, that’s probably why she’s out cheating on you in the first place.

  • Ernest Bethea

    One word: Stunned.

  • Mandy

This is one match that will be talked about for years to come, it was a complete shocker! I still can’t believe Brock of all people ended Taker’s streak. It just doesn’t seem real

  • The Brock Lesnar Experience

Its hard to believe all the people who marked out when Brock Lesnar returned are now completely hating on him. It was Takers choice he wanted Brock to end the streak not an upcomer. The only other person Taker wanted was Kurt Angle and that match wasn’t possible. Angle’s lucky he would have got extreme abuse as well.

  • John

Can we all agree that regardless of what you think of the ending, Undertaker looked awful tonight. He has 100% made the correct decision to retire and you have to respect Mark Calloway for giving up his iconic ‘WrestleMania Streak’ on his way out.

An active member of the WWE roster, like CM Punk last year, ending ‘The Streak’ would have been a terrible idea. There is no pay-off for ending ‘The Streak’, you wouldn’t get anyone over as a huge heel for going over Undertaker at WrestleMania, all you would get is complete resentment. Brock Lesnar is absolutely the perfect guy to have end ‘The Streak’.

    • Cubed56

      well said.

  • Chris

Watched Brock in the UFC. The dude is an ahole. Thought Bigshow vs Brock at Royal Rumble was just stupid. Always thought the character was lame. Love taker, but this match was boring. I was expecting the streak to end, but to Brock? He could have dropped it to HHH, HBK, or even Punk in his previous matches and I think fans could have accepted that. Roman Reigns would have been awesome. But Brock!? Really!? A part timer? Now I see why cm punk left. This is why I quit watching WCW years ago. After that I think there was no choice but to drop the title to Bryan. Still think the writing was way better in the late 90′s early 00′s.

  • NotoriousRambo

Lesner would pretty much disappear now smh so disappointed the way they choose to end it like it never mattered or it wasn’t all that it was cracked up to be are u kidding me? Was hoping sting would have ended it or someone who has put in work in the wwe for a decade or more that truly deserved it **sigh**…

I can see it now when Vince or hunter are being interviewed because there is gonna be a lot of disappointed fans who will want an answer as to why it ended so horribly and they will answer the fans with well people seem to forget this is the entertainment business just like they said about the Montreal screw job smh.

  • Boswell

Am I happy that lesnar ended the streak? no! Am I happy the streak ended? Yes! Everyone has been complaining about change, surprises, and unpredictability for such a long time now and YOU got it. They threw you the biggest curve ball in HISTORY and everyone including myself gave the exact reaction they were hoping for. I think it was very well played by WWE and personally one of the best wrestlemanias I have ever witnessed the show was pretty solid.

  • Ant_C

I always hated that jerk (to use some PG terms ) since day one when he got mr. Perfect (the best ever) fired. He had absolutely nothing to gain form this.

  • Jason

Why would anyone care for wrestlemania 31 now? regardless of the train wreck card that would be put up The streak and the Undertaker is the only thing why people tuned in, in the first place. The Streak WAS Wrestlemania and now thats gone there is No wrestlemania. The legacy was raped tonight.

    • http://wrestlingnewsworld.com/ Theophilus McFadden

I agree. I certainly don’t. The winning streak was the attraction. Now that it’s gone, there’s no point. My main beef is that it was such an awful match. The pace was glacial, Brock got blown up, and it just didn’t tell a good story. If you’re going to end the streak, it should be memorable. This match was anything but. Truly awful…

      • Jason

10 years ago Undertaker couldnt beat Lesnar 1 on 1. i figured this would be redemption for the undertaker to finally beat the man he couldnt beat but of course that didnt happen. My beef is that Undertaker has the right to retire undefeated. and he even said himself if he can still go 1 night a year he will. He earned this honor, he earned this accomplishment. he earned the right to call this streak his legacy. and who would benefit from an upcomer going off breaking the streak? accomplishing that who would need a championship reign? the man who breaks the streak, who breaks the legacy of the undertaker who would really benefit from a championship? the whole thing is fucked up.

  • Kurt Angle

Sting going to WWE is pointless now.
