Brock Lesnar The Focal Point Of SummerSlam, 20-Man Battle Royal, Big Names On 1000th Raw, MITB Matches

What's the deal with Brock Lesnar and Triple H regarding a possible SummerSlam match?

WWE is stringing out Triple H's "challenge" to Brock Lesnar for as long as possible because they want to make Lesnar the focal point of SummerSlam but are unable to have him on TV every week because of the limited dates on his contract. This is one of the reasons for bringing Paul Heyman in despite the fact he and Lesnar have a strained relationship in real life. Lesnar will appear live on the 1000th episode of Raw on July 23, 2012 where the match will be set and built for the show next month.

What's the purpose of the 20-man battle royal on this week's Super Smackdown Live? Will the winner be "awarded" anything?

WWE announced the winner of the 20-man battle royal on this week's Super Smackown Live will be the interim General Manager on next week's Smackdown. Confirmed participants are WWE Champion CM Punk, World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus, John Cena and Big Show.

Have you heard any big names being circulated for the 1000th Raw?

The 1000th Raw is expected to be loaded with Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Brock Lesnar as well as all the company's top names. Rey Mysterio was backstage at this week's Raw and is expected to return with talk that Mark Henry could come back as well. Bret Hart said on Twitter he expects to get a call from WWE to appear on the show. Other names people have asked about include Steve Austin, The Rock and The Undertaker but I'm unable to confirm any of them as of this writing. As I've written, WWE wants to pop a huge rating for the show as well as build momentum for their move to three hours.

What are your thoughts on the Money in the Bank ladder matches at the pay-per-view later this month?

Two different philosophies are being displayed with the Money in the Bank ladder matches this year. The match for a WWE Championship contract will highlight top veteran talent with only Chris Jericho being "Money in the Bank friendly." I don't expect the match to be as fast-paced as we've seen with the match in previous years but WWE is trying something different. The match for a World Heavyweight Championship contract features more up and coming talent with some athletic names to work a more traditional Money in the Bank bout. I'm willing to remain objective about the matches and reserve my opinion on their evaluations until after they happen.

Looks like John Cena will be the Interim GM next week! I'm calling it now.

    • Mr.Love

They actually have subtlety been going away from the obvious. Tyson Kidd actually won a few matches, maybe they won’t do the obvious here and idk…. Kane wins that would be interesting

  • Paul

Kane has had a fair few mitb matches, he won and cashed on the same night remember!

    • Guzzie1984

I think what richard meant was size and agilty wise,

  • Thumpa

Tensai going over Gabriel for the MITB match was very odd, hopefully the SD match will get some more high flyers, maybe Hunico and Sin Cara?

  • PainOfDemise

Did they already forget that they already said that they were only using past GM's for the Interm General Managers? Or do they jus hope we forgot that already?

    • J-Dub

John Cena was a past GM!

    • H.M.

I was wondering the same thing. I was hoping for an Austin/Stephanie McMahon/Paul Heyman type of thing for past GM's to cover the next 3 weeks. 🙁

  • Ego Trip

Having the former champs only in the match makes it a different from past years. Give the size of TBS and Kane some power ladder moves will be different than the normal high spots. We have all been begging for something new and different in the WWE so let's give them the chance. The other match has all the up and comers so it will be interesting to see who gets the nod.

Richard when did Heyman and Lesnars relationship strain?

    • _JIM_

I think what happened was that Heyman wanted Brock to stay with UFC and Brock didn’t feel like he could still do it because of his health problems. Sounded to me like Lesnar felt like Heyman was lookkng out for his own interests more so than Brock’s. So he’s having some trust issues.

So long as the WWE championship ladder match doesn't finish the show last over the WWE championship match itself solely due to Cena, I'm fine with this change of pace. Enough is enough. Your WWE champ should be your TOP guy in the show.

Wwe just isn’t good anymore. I haven’t been excited by it since the Kat got naked at Armageddon 1999 🙂

    • Tiday

Haha I still have this on VHS!

  • Chris

Why is everyone having a problem with the raw MITB, other than the small number of participants it seems good to me. Only Cena hasn't competed in one but he's faced edge in a ladder match from what i understand so he must know something, you've got Jericho who you know can go, you've got Show on his massive path of destruction that could see more run in's on him and you've got a former MITB winner, a man who laughed at all the burning ladders as he came to the ring, Kane.
I would have liked to include miz and Mysterio but you can't have everything.

    • David

From what I heard this years MITB winners will not be a past winner so it is kind of a good thing Miz is not in the match but then that would also mean Kane isn’t going to win so idk if it’s true. Plus There is only 1 past MITB winner in out of the what soon should become 12 competitors so its good chance source is right

  • thomas lewis

Tyson kidd will win hes the 1 being given a big push i think

  • Steve l

Love the Armageddon 99 reference Good times man.

  • fletch

What’s with ppl being big on high flyers? Wrestlers tend to jus climb the ladder and fall off it. Size doesn’t matter really.
