Daniel Bryan A Main Eventer, Fandango's Return, Required Sabbaticals, Christian

I'm happy Daniel Bryan is finally getting the push he deserves, as are you, but do you think it'll be a full force run? It's quite hard for someone his size to have a long memorable run, especially in WWE.

I am very optimistic regarding Daniel Bryan in WWE and do not feel size will hold him back. The barrier was broken with CM Punk and I don't see the company turning back now. Bryan has had success at every gimmick WWE has thrown at him and is now working at a level above everyone else. There is no use at me even gushing about it, go back and watch the past two episodes of Monday Night Raw. Bryan is on another planet right now and the company realizes that and plans to reward him.

Any news on Fandango's condition? Will he be returning soon, and upon his return will he get an Intercontinental title match?

I do not have an update on Fandango but I am under the impression he was pulled from WWE Payback for precautionary measures only. The fact that he's already passed an Impact concussion test tells me the company wants to be 100% sure he's not suffering from post-concussion syndrome. As for an Intercontinental Championship match that depends on how the triple threat bout is booked at the pay-per-view on Sunday.

With superstars going on sabbaticals for a couple of months and returning in better health, with better morale and causing an increase in ratings and fan interest because absence makes the heart grow fonder - would it not be worthwhile making it a requirement for all WWE workers that they take a two month break every year?

No, this wouldn't work. Not everyone is Triple H or CM Punk or Brock Lesnar where they can disappear and return right back at the top. A lot of workers are still trying to get recognized by the audience and would lose their spot if they were required to take time off. I had a chat with someone in WWE earlier in the week and we discussed the company's handling of Fandango. A worker like Fandango is trying to get established and while it's a good thing WWE is being ultra careful with his health, will it cause workers not to report concussion symptoms in fear they'll be forced to take time off? Taking time off causes a worker's pay to go down. Guys with large downsides and established fan bases do not feel it but the majority of workers rely on this money just to make ends meet.

Any update on Christian? I know it's mind boggling that he is not heard from or even an update on his whereabouts. Do you know when his contract is up?

The latest update on Christian is there is no update. Everything we hear continues to indicate there are plans for him in WWE but so far, nothing. He was at Wrestlemania Fan Axxess in New Jersey over Wrestlemania 29 weekend and is expected back soon.

  • Christian please come back to WWE…

  • Charles

Holy crap, what planet are people living on to still be asking where Christian is?!

    • Loren Goldstein

Same planet where people ask when Cena will turn heel?

    • Isaac

Yeah but thats because hes been “due back soon” for what it seems like eternity now

  • Zach Bonner

They should use the concussion as a way to repackage Fandango. They kinda screwed the pooch by pushing the “Fandangoing” thing way over the edge.

  • Loren Goldstein

I was always under the impression that it was Shawn Michaels who “broke the size barrier”

    • It’s more than size. Daniel Bryan, like Punk, is a Ring of Honor guy. These guys were stars before they were stars.

      • Loren Goldstein

Okay I see where you’re coming from. Would it be akin to AJ Styles coming in and getting pushed?

      • TheBigKing1

I just can’t wait til he shaves a lot of that hair off his head and face so I can take him a little more seriously again…like around his first title run.

    • Justin Lal

You’re right. But CM Punk broke the ROH barrier — an Indy guy that got main event status in WWE. But guys like Punk and Bryan will only be pushed so far in the WWE. Neither of them will ever by the face of WWE. Even during Punk’s reign John Cena was booked higher many times. WWE will push Bryan hard this summer but will WWE put the WWE Title on him at any point? No. That’s just the way it is. People need to come to grips with this.

      • Loren Goldstein

I think the problem isn’t necessarily one of whether they were an Indy guy or not. The “problem” right now is that Cena doesn’t so much to bring widespread coverage to the WWE that they “can’t” not have him be the face of the company. As far as taking the belt off of him, who else do you see as a viable contender who is active now? Ryback? Orton? The list is very short. Why not give it to Bryan?

        • Justin Lal

Daniel Bryan would be great at chasing the title, not actually getting it.

          • Loren Goldstein

Well I think that if they could keep Bryan as a face to chase it would work. Throwing Cena and Bryan into the mix really blurs the line between who we’re “supposed” to be cheering as the face.

          • TheBigKing1

True, right now…but later I can see him attaining it.

      • Robert Olley

I would say punk was the face of wwe looking at merc sales and ratings. Also usually when a person is on the cover a the wwe game they are the face or up bear there

        • Loren Goldstein

As much as punk may sell merch, he still comes nowhere close to the amount that Cena sells.

      • TheBigKing1

Yes they will…maybe not yet, but they will. Trust me.

  • Clint

Luckly for fandango money in the bank is the next ppv so no doubt they will put him in it to kinda make up the weeks he missed. Im sure wade and miz will both be in mitb as well so they can pick up where they left off. As for bryan i think hes either going to win the wwe mitb briefcase or win sometype of contenders match very soon because he is on fire right now and unless they plan to put brock lesnar in the money in the bank match. Who else besides cm punk could u realistically win. Certainly not ryback.. I can see mark henry taking on cena at mitb tho. I think christian is a dark horse to win one of the cases for the simple fact they are keeping him on the sidelines and everyone wants him back. Anything otha than a feud with ziggler or the shield would be a huge letdown. A break every now and then would do wonders for the workers. Time to heal as well as give the fans the chance to miss them and keep the worker from getting burned out. Example. Jericho was gone for maybe 5 months when he returned at the rumble and the place exploded. Not to mention it would give creative a break as well lol

    • TheBigKing1

I agree with everything you said.

  • dunlap84

Is it out of the realm of possibility that Christian goes back to TNA? I hope not but its just a thought.

  • Chris

In regards to the time off question, I like (of course, since it’s my idea) my thoughts on time off bonus’ if a worker reaches a certain title. I did an article about it at WWENews.net.

  • sujay

I predict a wwe championship briefcase win for Bryan at MITB ppv… which will lead to face cena vs face bryan at summerslam with bryan cashing in like RVD did back then… and then i boldly predict bryan wining the title by making cena tap out to the NO lock and defeating him cleanly…

OH common Vince pls make this happen… after a disastrous WM, its time to give the people what they want…

  • Robert Olley

Long to hear Go! When you close your eyes! Now like been way too long

  • Hussein

We started the yes chants again in Calgary when I was there on may 27 2013 when it was Daniel Bryan and Kane against Seth rollans and roman reigns for the tag team championpsand that was the best match I’ve ever seen at a live event
