The Chant That Got To Orton, Batista’s Title Match, JR Urges Patience, Miz Speaks, Bourne Return Update, Brie Bella Comments

- For those asking about Randy Orton’s reaction to the crowd hijacking his WWE World Heavyweight Championship match at Royal Ruble, I was told it was the “we want Eva/we want Divas” chants that really sent him over the top.

- Batista has officially been announced as the WWE World Heavyweight Championship challenge at Wrestlemania XXX on April 6, 2014 in New Orleans, Louisiana.

- Jim Ross is preaching patience to Daniel Bryan fans but I’m not sure that’s going to work. You can read his latest at this link.

- The Miz is interviewed by Cleveland.com at this link to promote this week’s Monday Night Raw.

- Evan Bourne Tweeted that he was still marching towards his WWE comeback. I was told he inquired about a return at SummerSlam last August but was told he wasn’t needed.

- Brie Bella posted the following on social media:

I’m sick of this ‘Daniel Bryan doesn’t need the title to be over’ line. Austin and Hogan were the biggest names in history and they had the honour of holding the title.

What they are really telling us is that Orton/Cena/Batista obviously do need to have the title to try and keep any interest in their matches. But it isn’t working anymore.

    • IWC

I agree. I’m sick of John Cena, Batista, Randy Orton, Brock Lesnar, Triple H, Sheamus and all these other non-Internet guys getting pushed ahead of Punk, Bryan, Ziggler, Cesaro & Ambrose. Vince doesn’t know what the hell he’s doing and he needs too retire. I’m never ordering another PPV ever again or watching wrestling. If anyone who went to the show was smart they’d demand a refund, I know I would.

      • Mysterion

I remember when this joke was funny.

        • Nostaljack

          I don’t…LOL!

      • Simze

Do it don’t tell us about it. Either you like what’s happening or you don’t. Dont bitch about it every time you don’t get what you want watch and see if they’re going I do something with it

      • JR Texx (Jamie)

Is there really need for any of that? I mean really? No there isn’t.

        • Bob’s Diner

I think it is Jay El Bee trolling my comments – there was one after everything Jbreed and I said the other day

    • Jimmy

I agree with you but look at it from they’re point of view. Sure they can please the internet fan base but what do we really do aside from complain and come up with new chants? It’s the little kids that cheer for guys like Cena, Sheamus and Batista who are buying replica belts, action figures, clothing and other merch and actually making them money. I hate to break it to ya but the IWC is barely 50% of WWE’s fan base. To be honest im just happy that they atleast even consider using guys like Punk, Bryan, Reigns, Cesaro and are atleast giving them some sort of push.

      • Bob’s Diner

It’s funny that people say that… despite the fact WWE are now going to be airing so much online, push all their social media like the app and twitter – which are also on the internet. Their entire audience are apparently on the internet

Also, CM Punk has been with WWE twice as long as he was with Ring of Honor – yet people always consider him a Ring of Honor guy. Daniel Bryan has gotten tonnes of mainstream media attention since being part of WWE for the last few years (remember PETA petitioning WWE to rehire him?). Not to mention the fact the crowds have been chanting for him the last few years more than anyone else.

But still these guys are considered ‘internet favorites’ or whatever you want to call it. It is bizarre

        • Jimmy

Don’t get me wrong, im on your side. I too believe it’s a different generation where what was once the “internet guys” are now becoming the mainstream guys and should be treated and used as such. But WWE creative fail to see it that way.

        • Vince McMannequin

if you’re not a made man by Vince McManneqiun, you’ll never get the opportunities given to those that characters are created by the McMannequin….

          • Xavier

Rey Mysterio, Booker T, CM Punk, Big Show and if Eddie Guerrero & Chris Benoit were still alive they would all disagree with your statement

          • JR Texx (Jamie)

Would he have given The Rock a chance if he didn’t ask for it ?

          • Xavier

Who knows but all I know is that Vince took WCW rejects and turned them into huge stars thus creating the 2nd boom period in the WWE. Austin, Triple H & Foley did next to nothing in WCW.

And concerning The Rock, remember it was the fans who were shi***** on him. Had Vince “Listened to the fans” there would of never been a Rock

          • JR Texx (Jamie)

            True that.

    • Venom

You’re preaching to the choice bud. If Daniel Bryan is so over he doesn’t need a title then they’re saying John Cena sucks and needs it to make him relevant. Now I know he doesn’t have one now and lost on Sunday. It did take a stable to distract him to lose and we both know he’ll beat Wyatt and be back in the title picture.

  • austin316

As has been alluded to, I think the DB thing is a work and something will happen soon

    • Bob’s Diner

I don’t think they planned this but are going to use it and turn it into a story, then act like it was their plan all along,

You don’t plan to turn fans off your product in order to further a story

      • Xavier

They actually ran an angle once with the intention of getting fans pissed at Vince so they could make it a story. Remember the fake Rosie vs the fake Trump match from RAW in 07?

        • Bob’s Diner

Good point. I had forgotten about that…
Dear Prime, why do we all still watch this show and expect good things?!?!?!

      • JR Texx (Jamie)

I don’t think they expect people to actually start ranting over a scripted product.

I think it’s a work, I just think people are too angry just because Bryan wasn’t in the rumble too see the larger picture.

  • Nostaljack

Evan Bourne….ROFL!!!! “One of these things is not like the other.”

    • Bob’s Diner

If the guy really thinks he has a chance of coming back to WWE, I’d say he has been using his recovery to break the wellness policy one too many times. Time to put down the bong and join the real world

  • Rick Bauer

Brie Bella just got future endeavored.

    • Nostaljack

Of course…darn it all to heck. So did Bryan. He complained first. Mick Foley will also never work for WWE again as a result of what he’s said. Oh, the fantastic damage social media hath created…or something…LOL!!

      • Xavier

So I take it me & you are in the minority of the people who actually think there is more to this then meets the eye?

        • Bob’s Diner

Like I’ve said, I don’t believe they planned this but are going to use it and pretend it was always their plan. Seriously, you can’t plan the kind of backlash they got last night – pretty sure they expected Batista’s return to be more triumphant than it has been, reaction-wise

          • JR Texx (Jamie)

I do, that’s why the “Yes movement” has slowly been working its way into effect.

        • JR Texx (Jamie)

Not just you, I didn’t think Bryan would be in the rumble as soon as the WWE announced he would have a match with Bray.

Personally? I think Hunter wants him at Wrestlemania, who knows, Undertaker might ant to have Bryan in the ring, I just re-read that and it reminds me of Orton/Cena backstage interview segment back in the day.

  • Lebron James

No excuses. Awful show, outcome, booking, and decisions. Bryan has been the most popular guy in the company since Austin for a little over a year now. If last night wasn’t the time to put him completely over, then I don’t know when it will be. I really hope the ratings tank tonight. That will send a message.

  • Ben

Hey Orton, if you don’t like chants hijacking your snoozefest of a match, how about you stop being so boring and worthless so the crowd actually cares? It’s ironic, the crowd called for Divas, but the biggest diva in the company was already in the match.

    • Stephen Cash

The match was pretty great actually. People just don’t like Orton. He could put on the best match in history and people like you would say it sucked

      • Ben

It wasn’t just Orton, Cena contributed to that match not appealing to me either. Orton’s had some very good matches in his career, same with Cena. Orton’s a damn crybaby amongst other things I far from respect, but that doesn’t mean I can’t acknowledge when he has a good match. I simply didn’t buy into last night.

      • JR Texx (Jamie)

Having both Orton and Cena in just a normal 1 on 1 match. A match we’re all sick of seeing. It was never going to achieve anything spectacular, not that we haven’t seen already, they should have added something to it to make it more interesting. Like I dunno. Lesnar?

    • Xavier

It had nothing to do with Orton. The only thing Orton and everyone else on the roster was guilty of last night was not being Daniel Bryan. The match was actually pretty good. The crowd was shi**** on the match from the second it started and were determined to ruin the match no matter how good it was.

      • Ben

This is hardly the first time recently Orton has gotten little to no reaction, and those times weren’t just Daniel Bryan.

        • JR Texx (Jamie)

Sheamus V Orton.. I mean come on.. Michael Cole chants?

      • Bob’s Diner

I agree to an extent – the crowd were never going to give it a chance. I think it was the crowd’s way of saying ‘Hey, WWE, we’ve seen this match numerous times already and we’re not really interested in seeing it again. Could we please get a different title match for future PPVs? Thanks’

        But I also agree with Ben’s response…

        • Xavier

I have no issue with fans being impatient and frustrated with the booking of Bryan. I agree with fans wanting too see Bryan get his shot but like I said above just a few minutes ago hijacking a show after you’ve already paid Vince is not going to change anything, Vince has never taken those types of fans seriously and he never will and I can’t say I blame them. Hijacking shows is really going about it the wrong way.

        • JR Texx (Jamie)

But if they had rid of that match, you would have probably said where was Cena’s rematch? They needed to do it, it’s out the way now.

      • Jimmy

I thought Orton actually handled the chants pretty well as he posed to draw more heat whenever they would chant something he didn’t like.

        • Xavier

I will say that he handled it a lot better then he has in the past.

  • John

Randy might want to start getting used to those chants because the WrestleMania crowd is going to bury his title match with Daniel Bryan chants. In fact i believe that the fans at Mania could turn on the entire card if they don’t do something big with Bryan… Nobody is interested in a Sheamus match.

    • Xavier

What’s the point though? I mean yeah fans can show up and “hijack” the show all they want but that won’t change a damn thing. One thing that people fail to realize is that once you buy a ticket Vince has already won. After that point those fans can chant whatever they want and while they’re doing all that huffing & puffing Vince is backstage counting all the money. If the so-called smart fans were really smart then they should of realized a long time ago that the only way to truly get Vince’s attention is by hurting him in his checkbook. Vince seeing RAW/House Shows/WrestleMania with half the arena empty would do 100x more in forcing change then PAYING him money just too hijack it. Vince will continue to not take smarks seriously until they actually do this.

      • John

There may not be any point to it however we know what the WrestleMania crowd is like, they love Bryan. Look at what they did to the Orton/Sheamus match on RAW last year, the crowd destroyed that match. If WWE are smart then they won’t put Orton vs. Batista anywhere near the WrestleMania main event.

        • Xavier

I agree. Batista/Orton should of happened at WM22

        • Jimmy

Yes the fans destroyed the Orton vs Sheamus match and then Orotn went on to become the WWEWH Champ later that year. So the chants didn’t really do a whole lot.

          • John

Nobody said they would achieve anything, WWE is going to do what they think is right regardless of crowd reactions, but do you think WWE wants to have their championship match at the biggest event of the year hijacked by Daniel Bryan chants or “we want divas” chants? I’m sure nothing will change after what happened last night but I bet Vince McMahon was pissed that the crowd reacted the way they did during the Royal Rumble!

          • Jimmy

I completely agree with with, but we were saying the exact same thing this time last year and we still got Rock/Cena as the WM title match main event. So i don’t really think that VInce cares about the chants a whole lot. I do hope that this year is different though.

          • JR Texx (Jamie)

He does care about the chants, they’re getting a reaction, that’s all that matters.

      • JR Texx (Jamie)

I wouldn’t be surprised if Vince was in the back on a swivel chair with a cat on his lap stroking it.

        • Xavier

          Lol

  • Jimmy

Everyone keeps talking about how the WWE is screwing Bryan by not putting him in the Rumble and winning it. But am i the only one that feels Ziggler is treated the same if not worse? He got probably the 2nd or 3rd loudest reaction of the night only to have the poorest Rumble display I have ever seen from a star as over as him. What i want to see now is Batista/Orton at WM which the fans will most likely crap on, and have Bryan/Ziggler and let them absolutely tear the building down, steal the show and let Vince and creative know that these 2 guys should be in the title/main event picture.

  • smark calloway

so many people dont understand the business side of the business do you ? batista is going to headline wrestlemania ( and probably win the title ) because he has a big role in one of this summer blockbuster movies ( some marvel comics adaptation , galaxys of something or other ). think of all the mainstream publicity that will bring wwe when batista is on the red carpet premieres as the wwe champion. wwe love their mainstream exposure you must all know that by now . and if people see him in the movie or on a tv show hyping up the movie and become a fan of his acting they might start to watch wwe and then the company have got themselves some new fans , which means more money and more ratings for wwe. daniel bryan as wwe champion isnt going to get them mainstream red carpet exposure is it ?..thats why he wont be headling mania or winning the title during the summer ( plus hes getting married to brie bella in april so he will probably be having time off for the honeymoon and whatnot after mania anyway ..new champs cant have time off straight after they win the belt )

  • JR Texx (Jamie)

Let’s be honest. Bryan is going to Wrestlemania either way.

But what about people who you guys are forgetting? Ziggler? The Shield? I mean The Shield aren’t in the Elimination Chamber match. Cena is gonna get ANOTHER shot at the WWE WHC when someone else could be in there.

Look at the people who have missed their chance.

  • 1degenerate

Orton sure didn’t look mad to me about the chant. He hilariously did his pose when they were chanting it and was having fun w/ it. Sounds like to me this is just another ‘Orton probably got mad so lets make up a story about it” thing to me.
