Chris Jericho Discusses His WWE Contract Status; Says He Signed On For 4 Months Longer Than He Planned

Chris Jericho spoke to the Daily Star out of the United Kingdom about his WWE contract status. In it, he says he signed for four months longer than he planned and once his deal is up, he'll devote himself 100% to Fozzy for their run. Based on the wording, one would imagine he's finished with WWE after SummerSlam (or at least that's what he wants people to believe). Below is an excerpt from the article:

You can’t please everyone,” Jericho told FT this week. “I left because of Fozzy in September 2010. Lots of fans were saying please come back, so I came back.

“Punk and I had some good thoughts on what we could do together and people were saying screw you, you’re only back for the payday at Mania.

“I’m nothing like those guys. I’ve only missed four house shows since I came back. I ended up signing for four months longer than I planned to do. And yes, when it’s done I’ll devote myself 100% to Fozzy for our run.

“I’m in the best shape ever, I’m not hurt, I can easily come back for as long as I want whenever I want, but people should understand that I’m not going to wrestle until I’m 85 years old.”

Why not? I belive that the reason he isn't injured is because he takes regular sabaticals. Goode for him things are going the way he wants and has the ability to "Write" his own ticket as to what he wants to do. If people can get passed the Y2J persona, and realise whats "REAL" and whats "ENTERTAINMENT" , they may actually be happy for the guy. Later

Why so many haters out there. Jericho positioned himself in such a way that he can pursue outside interests and come back as needed. I feel too many people are jealous they can't do the same thing. Jericho is a 20+ yr. veteran and can still perform at a high level. Why he should not be able to do as he pleases with his career and other interests. I for one am happy for him,too many wrestlers burn themselves out with the constant grind of travel and competing. Jericho knows when to step away and "recharge his batteries" so to speak. That has imo extended his in-ring career for another several years, if he so chooses.

I’m happy he came back. He has done some outstanding in ring with Punk that made WrestleMania and Extreme Rules special.its also nice to see originals from WCW still wrestling and entertaining at a high level.

hes not going to wrestle until hes 85??? or did he mean hes not going to STOP wrestling until hes 85 lol

  • Chris Jericho is pretty much my favourite wrestler ever, but I’m getting pretty damn sick of him having massive comebacks and just losing constantly.
