More On Christian Possibly Suffering Another Concussion, Heat On Alberto Del Rio

For those that missed the news on Tuesday evening, Christian was pulled from the Intercontinental Championship match on this week’s live episode of WWE Main Event shortly before the show went live on WWE Network. The company claimed it was due to a “slight concussion” and another number one contenders bout was booked to open Main Event, with Dolph Ziggler going over and challenging Big E later in the broadcast. Big E went over to retain the title.

Christian’s injury happened in a Fatal 4-Way match on this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw, where he went over against Alberto Del Rio, Sheamus and Ziggler. Del Rio had two notable botches. One on a missed enziguri kick and another where he kicked Christian in the back of the head.

We’re told Del Rio was given a lot of grief backstage over the botches and it appears one of them has cost Christian yet another injury.

What’s even more concerning is that Christian missed 5 months after suffering a concussion in a match against Randy Orton on the August 26, 2013 episode of Raw. He didn’t return until late January and appeared to be just getting back in the swing of things.

It’s worth noting we haven’t received independent confirmation that Christian’s injury is legitimate and there is still a chance WWE’s claims could be kayfabe but the former is more likely given the botched kick, change in booking plans and Christian’s concussion history.

Why does Del Rio still have a job? He’s not over, he can barely do anything in the ring, now he may have injured Christian and he has been given more chances than god to prove himself.

I agree they should just fire Rio he has no real skills in the ring and constantly puts workers at risk. Christian is one of my favorite wrestlers of all time and this saddens me that he got hurt due to someone being careless.

This absolutely sucks. I hope it’s a mild concussion and he can still go at WrestleMania 30. Christian hasn’t had a Mania match since WM26 I think, and now to think he may miss another because of a botched superkick from the most boring talent on the roster is quite upsetting.

This may open up an opportunity for Ziggler.

Alberto Del Midcard strikes again. Nobody deserves a concussion and, as little as I like te character of Christian, I hate that he’s suffering for someone else’s stupidity.

  • Ron

Well, doesn’t look like Alberto Del Rio has too much heat on him seeing as he’s gotten another opportunity at IC title on Main Event.

  • John Smith

Bout time del Rios kicks look great but jesus christ he does them like 5xs a match.

Just because he’s not strong enough to do power moves doesn’t mean that head kicks should be the main weapon in his arsenal.

He’s a great wrestler but he needs to ease up on the frequency of the kicks because he has injured a couple ppl including Dolph Ziggler who was in the middle of a massive push.

Thank god ziggler won tonight and is going to WM let him sit on the IC belt for 6 months then let him into the main event.

Del Rio is still around because WWE is catering to the growing Mexican population in America. And that’s the facts folks. I can’t blame them demographics is destiny BUT there are far more talented Latino wrestlers than Alberto del rio…namely Aj Lee.

I don’t think anyone has had a more prolonged and stubborn push than Del Rio has had (except John Cena but it’s different). He gets no reaction, is incredibly stale, basic moveset, and from what I’ve heard whines like a baby backstage when he doesn’t get his way. Also had a manager that was more over than him, a manager is not supposed to outshine their talent, they’re supposed to compliment them. That’s saying something.

How hasn’t Del Rio been let go yet? He botches quite often, doesn’t get over, and his character’s staleness just ruins wwe tv.
