CM Punk Not Interested In Challenging Undertaker At Wrestlemania

Shares 0

CM Punk was asked at the Ohio Comic-Con in September last year if he would like to challenge Undertaker for "the streak" at Wrestlemania. The following quotes are directly from Punk:

"That Doesn't interest me… I like being in situations where you don't know who is going to win… Whoever wrestles in that I feel it's a foregone conclusion… There needs to be some drama and stuff."

This of course is relevant as it's believed he will indeed be the worker to challenge Undertaker at Wrestlemania 29 this year.

You can watch Punk's comments at the 27 minute mark at this link or embedded below:

At the same comic-con he said he was single. He was not. A lot can change in a few months. It’s been 5 months. THIS is not relevant and out of context.

how isn’t it relevant? Undertaker is going to win. He always does and CM Punk knows that people know he’ll lose.

      • its called business. Punk will do what needs to be done for whatever is good for business

Thats were your wrong dont forget how upset Punk was last year with WWE always giving him the ball and then dropping it, look what there doing again. For what Punk has done in the last year he deserves nothing less than the top spot on Wrestle Mania and the hole WWE universe knows he can deliver

I’m sorry but your english is terrible.

          • sir-rusty82

            what did I spell wrong

  • The Breaker

I wonder if Punk would feel the same way if he was booked to go over. 😛

I see why Punk wouldn’t want that match. It’s a guaranteed loss, and with such little time between now and Mania, the program that they would have wouldn’t be good. There’s just not enough time left to properly build a match as big as that. If there was enough time to give the match the time and attention that it would need to build it properly, I’m sure Punk would be all over it. But either way build up or no build up it’s a definite loss for Punk. Which at this time wouldn’t be the best thing for his character. Especially after just losing to Rock twice and Cena on Raw. If he’s not going to be in the WWE title match he needs to be in a match where he can win convincingly. The top guy in the company shouldn’t be put on the back burner and have his character made to look weak over and over just because there are a bunch of part-timers needing spots. If I were Punk wouldn’t be happy at all with how things are going now after spending the last year basically carrying the company.

Last I checked, Cena was still the top guy in the company. And why wouldn’t Punk be happy? He was booked super strong the past year & a half. He went over pretty much everybody (Cena, Ryback, Bryan, Jericho, Kane, Ziggler, Del Rio, Henry & Miz) over the past 400 days. A few loses won’t hurt him at all at this point. Punk’s in his 7th year with the company, now that he’s been super established as the top heel in the company it’s now time for him too help put out over some of these younger guys on the roster.

      • how come a loss from taker will put younger guys over?

        • Xavier

I wasn’t elluding to Taker, I meant help putting newer/younger wrestlers over this year now that Punk is super established. But even losing to Taker won’t hurt Punk in the least bit.

WWE should do a tag match Brock and Punk vs HHH and Taker with Punk getting the pin on HHH (not Taker) then turn the rest of the year to do a build up for Wrestle Mania XXX with Punk vs Taker. Just throwing it out there and a hell of alot better to do a throw together match with no build up and better than a Summer Slam rematch

          • even though he’s not getting pinned you’re ending the streak in that situation…. that’s probably more stupid than having
            Fandango end the streak

          • sir-rusty82

Id say its more like half ending the streak and def puts the streak in question but how could it end the streak without Taker actually being pinned

          • Loren Goldstein

He would still be undefeated at WM but he would no longer be able to be billed as winning every match at WM. And to me there is a difference.

          • sir-rusty82

But iv never actually heard anyone say he has won every match (ofcourse he has but just havent heard those words) he would still be 21-0 but in my opinion would make a better twist to same old stuff with being able to predict whats gonna happen. I just find that its boring we already know its gonna be Punk vs Taker and we already know whos gonna win and Undertaker hasnt been seen on TV for a whole year

          • Loren Goldstein

Well and I think that’s exactly why he has been worried about being able to put on a good show. I think that by now, most fans know he’s not going to lose the match. What other reason do we have to watch a wrestling match when we already know the outcome? It’s to see how a story is told, how the performers act, how much emotion they can draw out of us. No one wants to watch a match with Kahli and Otunga for instance, even less so when you know which one is going t win.

          • sir-rusty82

Yeh so when do we get to start watching how the story is told, how the performers act, how much emotion they can draw out of us???

          • Patrick

Undertaker would have lost the match even if HHH was pined. doesn’t matter who gets pined in a tag match the tag team as a whole stil loses.

          • This idea is worth it’s weight in gold! Get all the “Heavies” together and let the chips fall where they may! A steel cage would put this match up there as one of the all time greats!

  • IFFFFFF they book it where Punk DOES in fact win and break the streak, he will never ever ever shut up about it. Not looking forward to that

  • B-Swagg

CM Punk portrays himself as the Best In The World, so why would he be interested in becoming one of the Undertaker’s long list of WM victims.

  • Mourngaze

Any match against taker is guaranteed to be a good thing for a career. In his career in the wwe he has been the unofficial McMahon spy in the locker room. And if he suggests something you can guess it is management talking. Bad mouthing or simply not wanting a match like this is like career suicide.

“That Doesn’t interest me… I like being in situations where you don’t know who is going to win… Whoever wrestles in that I feel it’s a foregone conclusion… There needs to be some drama and stuff.”

this sounds funny punk.. u were the same guy who faced Ryback few months back and everyone was aware about the result…….
