CM Punk Turning Heel, Both Champions Touring With Smackdown, Lesnar’s WWE Commitments, Sean Waltman’s Return

Was CM Punk’s attack on The Rock a heel turn or just a statement?

There has been talk for the last several weeks of turning CM Punk heel so when he attacked The Rock to conclude last week’s 1000th episode of Raw I figured it was the company pulling the trigger. After speaking with my sources, I was able to outline the premise of the heel turn and wrote a detailed article here on WrestlingNewsWorld.com Premium. Some people pointed out the fact Punk didn’t work as a heel on this weekend’s live events but that means nothing. Live events are outlined several weeks in advance and are not always indicative of what is going on with current story lines.

I was wondering why WWE would have both Sheamus and CM Punk on tour with Smackdown?

WWE booked CM Punk to tour with Smackdown in place of Randy Orton. Punk is seen as number two behind Cena so the thinking was to separate the two as the main draws of the company. With Orton returning, he’s scheduled to begin touring again with Smackdown and Punk going back to Raw. Orton’s first tour as the “face of Smackdown” is next week’s loop in Japan.

Why is Brock Lesnar part-time or what does he do when he’s not working for WWE? He obviously doesn’t have UFC commitments.

Brock Lesnar despised the travel schedule in WWE and left because he hated life on the road. When he negotiated his return, he wanted as much money for as few dates as possible. Given his drawing power, Lesnar was able to work out a lucrative deal like we’ve never seen before. One thing everyone needs to understand is Lesnar is not engaged what-so-ever with what’s going in WWE. He’s there for the money and will do whatever they want to collect his check, even if it involves going through with ridiculous stunts to try and “work the Internet.”

I thought bringing The New Age Outlaws and Sean Waltman back to D-Generation X for one night was great but where you surprised to see Waltman involved given his personal problems ? Also do you think he may have been intoxicated I thought he looked very awkward and out of place.

Sean Waltman is friends with Triple H so I wasn’t surprised to see his involvement. As I’ve previously reported, Waltman would probably be a hired employee if it were not for issues that make him a “risk” for the company. As for Waltman’s state at Raw, I don’t know what his condition was and refuse to speculate.

Anyone else notice that X-Pac didn’t say a word during the in-ring segment?

    • http://wnw Pifasjardon

      Shut up

    • XKonn247

Was gonna say the same thing. And I agree with the guy who asked the question. Waltman looked intoxicated And when he did his bit with Trish his eyes looked so blank.

    • Wainwright

I did. An I Honestly thought that he might-a, kinda, Maaybe looked a little “out if it” as compared to Road Dogg and Especially Billy (who looked great and in Good health!). He seemed even worse when he was making Trish look (probably legitimately) freaked out by him.

    • Dylan Higgins

No he said suck it on the mic. I bet he was disappointed that he didn’t say much.

    • ohyoudidntknow

he did say suck it at the end

  • bigandtall419

Unless i missed something, he didnt speak either. So he probably wa intoxicated

    • ericdraven86

It could have been that he was just moved to be back, and have gotten the ovation he did. Keep in mind the personal problems he has had as of late. He looked like he was crying before hhh made the balding joke.

      • Ryan

He's an admitted pot smoker so I wouldn't be surprised if he was stoned. What's the big deal?

  • Philg

I think it makes perfect sense to turn punk heel, probably a good way to extend his title run for a while without it going stale.

  • Btb

I really stopped liking punk when i thought his character went from a smart badass to a braggy comic pandering to the crowds. I don’t think I’m alone either, you don’t see too many people at events wearing his new ‘in punk we trust’ shirt. Old cm punk would have never bragged about ‘dropping the pipe bomb.’

I just hope a heel turn gets his music back to this fire burns. Cult of personality is getting boring.

    • smark

I hope its something besides the fireburns I hate that song

  • Ray

If anything did anyone notice his gut? Wooh, he let himself go he’s fat now!

    • maze

I noticed the same thing he has let himself go. Waltman was in great shape and is one hell of a worker but it looks like he is headed down a road much like his buddy Scott Hall. Sad just sad

  • Renegade

The segment with Waltman and trish was just awkward, he looked spaced out on something and trish looked uncomfortable around him. He’s beginning to look like Eugene! Go back and watch raw and tell me you don’t see it!

  • gpturbo81

who cares what his "state" was. stop putting so much time and energy into something that is none of our business

    • Chris H

Sorry, no. When you get in front of a camera for OUR entertainment, or lack thereof, then it IS out business.

      • Razmos01

Maybe OUR business but unless you went and urine tested x-pac for drug use or breathalised him then your comments are just personal opinions or attacks, i doubt WWE would of let him go out there if he wasnt “with it” due to PG tv and all!!!!! Stop hating and appreciate, and u mention lack of entertainment, you still kept watching!!!

        • ChrisH

Sorry, but I kept watching because I like WWE. I can criticise the use of a habitual drug abuser and still watch the show. Turning off a 3 HOUR show because of five minutes where he wasn’t even the focus? That’s as ridiculous as your whole argument. Nice try though.

Why would i stop watching knowing Rock and others would be on there just because Xpac was being unentertaining? Turning off a 3 HOUR show because of five minutes at the start where he wasn’t even the focus? That’s as ridiculous as your whole argument. Nice try though.

    • John

      Agreed!

  • jdl

If house shows are planned out months in advance… then why was Jericho working as a face when he only just turned three days ago?

    • Richard Gray

Ok, first of all the shows are planned out "weeks" in advance, not months. You'll also notice I clearly wrote, "are not always indicative" of current story lines. The bottom line is you can't read too much into what happens at live events.

    • Zach

Because it is still subject to change. This is WWE we are talking about here, they never make much sense.

      • Zach

Don’t forget Richard, that they also plan it out in advance to give the local area things to advertise to sell tickets.

        • Richard Gray

Sure and they are more likely to stick with a program for the sake of not "false advertising," however, I get a kick out of the NEWZ sites posting headlines such as "CM Punk Works Live Events As A Babyface." That's not news nor is it newsworthy.

          • Bryan

either is Halle Berry being rushed to the hospital.

          • Richard Gray

Major actor injured on the set of a WWE Studios film. I chose to run that. Perhaps not of interest to you but certainly of interest to many.

          • Matt

Perfect responses Richard. Screw the haters, they still come back.

  • Brad

I have to honest, without Lawler really driving it home on commentary, I wouldn’t have thought that Punk kicking and giving the GTS to Rock was a “heel” turn. They have no real prior relationship, and to me it was just Punk being Punk. If you look at the crowd, who didn’t have commentary, they felt the same way!

    • Wainwright

      Boom! Roasted!

      • Wainwright

Damn, that was for the guy that Richard “servered”. But I agree, I thought it was weird that people Were questioning whether or not he turned. If it was what it was, sans commentary, then we would be left to wonder for the week. But King’s reaction (and I think Cole too?) made it clear, to me at least, that this was a turn.

  • Tony

What time will Raw start now? An hour earlier or run for an hour later?

    • Zach

I am about 99 percent sure it will be an hour early, the same time every other three hour raw has started before. 7 in my area.

  • Daniel Moreno WWE

I’ve come to think that Punk’s heel turn happened only so that people forget about the fact that Cena lost his MITB contract match. John has way too many titles and giving him this one would turn his milestone unbeatable. Furthermore, it is my belief that Big Show will be the next champ, otherwise he wouldn’t be on the poll to face The Rock on the PPV.

Sean Waltman.. don't care. I missed the whole Attitude Era, so the "one-night only reunion" wasn't of any interest to me. Just looked like a bunch of old guys trying to be young. But hey, you old school WWE fans probably loved it and all the best to em for doing it, not gonna complain, it's come and gone now, so whatever. But let's not speculate on whether Sean Waltman was drunk or not because I doubt many of us care really. I'm more interested in the feud between The Rock & CM Punk, that GTS on Rocky was effin Awesome last week!

  • Mike

Everyone keeps talking about the x-pac and trish thing, even though it was on camera and backstage, which is 99 percent of the time pre-recorded and scripted.
