Comparing WWE Network To Oprah, Batista Update, Kharma’s WWE Status, WWE Gets Sheen’d

I was wondering about your thoughts on the WWE Network. Oprah’s network is basically hemorrhaging money at this point. Isn’t Vince McMahon and the rest of WWE upper management worried the same could occur with them?

Vince McMahon addressed the failure of the Oprah Network when talking about the WWE Network in a conference call with investors in November 2011. McMahon called the Oprah Network a “miserable failure” and said that it doesn’t take a genius to figure out the Oprah Network didn’t capitalize on what Oprah does best. Vince argued they tried to brand the Oprah name without featuring Oprah. He said WWE was going to do the opposite and would be “extraordinary successful.” Despite Vince’s calculated optimism, there are many in the company asking questions much like yours. As for my thoughts, the WWE Network is a huge risk and I’m not seeing a lot of upside. Sure, I’d like to see a network launched with all WWE programming and quite possibly carrying most of the pay-per-views, however, the fact they’ve struggled to gain clearance  shows just how difficult it’s going to be just to get it launched.

What’s the latest with Batista?

Batista has been in the news today for a few reasons. First of all, he’ll appear in “The Man With The Iron Fist” that is set to hit theaters on November 2, 2012 and he’s been doing media to promote it. Brooks Oglesby reported that Batista will make his MMA debut on October 6, 2012 and I noted here that Batista says he will definitely not be returning to WWE this year.

When is Kharma returning to WWE?

Kharma’s WWE status was called into question this week when her Twitter profile was moved to WWE’s alumni list (story here). Reports have surfaced WWE was planning on releasing her, however, I am unable to confirm those reports as of this writing.

With Charlie Sheen reportedly shutting down his Twitter account what will happen with his role as the Social Media Ambassador for the 1000th episode of Raw?

WWE has a situation on their hands as they sent out a press release late last month that Charlie Sheen would be Tweeting about the 1000th Raw from his Twitter account on July 23rd. If Sheen shuts his account down, there is obviously going to be a gap that is going to need filled. I can’t help but find it humorous that Charlie Sheen went all “Charlie Sheen” on WWE. No matter what, he’s #winning.

    • outkazt09

He doesn’t have problems. He has Adonis DNA.

    • Da KiDD

      He's a Rockstar from Mars..they don't get problems

      • Logan_Walker

Yeh and he also has Tiger Blood

  • Jim P

Alas, how will I ever enjoy wrestling without Charlie Sheen? It'll be like a hot-dog without a shoe-horn.

  • Khalkaroth

How can they possibly think of releasing the only entertaining girl on the roster…

    Seriously, WWE these days…

    • Terry

I’m not tryin to have a sharp tonge or anything , but you can’t really miss what you didn’t see . It’s bogus for Kharma I will agree but we can’t be upset at what could’ve been .

Given the very sad loss in her personal life, I'm guessing it has more to do with her wanting to step away from professional wrestling for a while and was probably a mutual, amicable decision.

I don't care about Sheen and his personal problems I enjoy his new show as well as the old one he was a part of… I haven't watched Two and a Half men since he was fired…..but I enjoy the repeats with him.

  • Ellen

How does one become an alumni when they basically did nothing in support of the brand they're an alumni of? Sad for Kharma but lies beget lies.

    • outkazt09

one does not simply become an alumni.

      • http://www.12ozprophet.com Dangerous Lee

        Apparently kharma “simply” became one…..

  • Kleck

Well, Sheen will lose out on several thousands of dollars and WWE no doubt could take legal action on him depending on what the contract might state. Pretty sure that not doing it is a breach of contract…lol

  • christopher525

Easy idea to replace Sheen, they could reach out this weekend to a MASSIVE wrestling mark, with even more followers than Sheen. Do the same thing as 2 and a half men, you replace Sheen with Ashton.

  • Joe

How is sheen winning, he’ll be dead in a few years

    • Richard Gray

Dude Sheen will be #winning even in death

    • unknown

i didnt know you had inside information with the grim reaper.

On the wwe network, SKY tv in UK ha the F1 channel about formula 1. When there is not a race on it shows repeats of old races and sometimes just a repeat of this is the formula 1 channel. To me this is a load o rubbish and hope that wwe do not go down this road. When the channel goes ahead they have to keep update as much as possible obviously it will have to show repeats but please jeep away with the continuous repeat rubbish we get just now. Even loads of old vintage matches would be great and make the channel worth while.
That is my rant and the UK will probably never get the channrl lol

I wonder if WWE will be using #Winning.. ?

The moment that the WWE announced that Charlie Sheen was to be their Social Media Ambassador, I called into question the WWE’s (and Vince’s) sanity. With all that Charlie Sheen has done in the past year or two, WHY IN H*** would you make him your Ambassador of anything?! They should have known he couldn’t be trusted. Even if he wasn’t shutting down his account, allowing him to tweet about your program is risky at best; Charlie Sheen isn’t known for following orders and scripts. He does his own thing, and that could be dangerous for Vince and the WWE. If Charlie really is shutting down his Twitter account, and this isn’t a work dreamed up by Vince and company, then it could be a GOOD thing for the WWE. Setting Charlie loose on Twitter to tweet about your program is just BEGGING for trouble.
