
The preliminary buyrate numbers released for Royal Rumble 2013 are extremely confusing and tell two completely different stories. The number in one of the charts in WWE’s updated Key Performance Indicators shows the buyrate slightly lower than the 443,000 buys the show did last year. You can see that graph below:
In a separate graph, breaking down the monthly PPV buys, the figure is 498,000 buys with 322,000 domestic and 176,000 international. You can view that graph below:
So did the show, headlined by CM Punk vs. The Rock, fall short from the past couple years or did the number surge to its highest in five years? We simply do not know and will have to wait on more information from WWE. The company will announce the official Royal Rumble buyrate number with their first quarter earnings later this year.
