Dana White - I Don't Know Why Vince McMahon Keeps Talking Sh*t About Us

Shares 0

During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter Vince McMahon said UFC's ratings were "abysmal" while doing promotion for the 1000th episode of WWE Raw last month.  MMA reporter Ariel Helwani spoke with UFC President Dana White recently and asked him about McMahon's comments. Here's an excerpt:

"Vince keeps talking shit about us. I don't know why. There's a lot of things I could say about the WWE but I would never. I don't know why he's trying to kick us in the balls. I like Vince. I have a good relationship with Vince… I think it's in his nature… as a competitor, as a human-being, it's the way Vince is built. You know, whatever."

You can watch the interview embedded in the video below. The question about McMahon's comments comes at the 3:44 mark:

He's just trying to hype his company, that's pretty much all there is to it. When you're getting slaughtered, you fight back even if you don't hate the company you're fighting against.

      • jdl

Yes, slaughtered. The UFC's PPV buy rates are miles above WWE's, UFC has better sponsors and is considered a legitimate sport so it gets better coverage on other sources. WWE is a globally known company, but it's outperformed by the UFC where it matters.

        • The Dude

That’s similar to saying that boxing slaughters Rocky movies. You’re comparing a form of entertainment to a legitimate sport. People prefer real rather than contrived. I think it’s senseless to compare two companies with a totally different business model. That’s just my opinion.

I'm making a comment and the reasoning behind it, if you have an issue with this being considered news, take it up with the site.

          • Derek

However, Rocky movies aren''t selling PPVs every month…I do understand what you mean, but ultimately, I do think they see each other as competitors of sorts (more so WWE sees UFC as a competitor). Even though UFC is a legitimate sport, people watch it for entertainment much as they want to be entertained by WWE. A buyrate is a buyrate, and if you only want to spend your $50 on one PPV a month, you have to choose between the two. I think it is the same way WWE considers Monday Night Football a competitor.

It’s because UFC is being run by a GUY who has a GIRL’S name.

    • mathew30

wow you really are an idiot

  • Ricky Valdez

Vince feels a little threatened of UFC when it comes to ppv buy rates. I think that’s why he is saying stuff.

    • mathew30

of course it is. i went up against steve austin via twitter when the same old bulshit of WM being the biggest sporting event in history beating the superbowl, yet on several tweets i proved the wwe in ALL their ppv's have dropped every single year.

      • StephenSnel23

WWE’s PPV’S have actually earned more that last years and by almost 100,000 each.

It's simple…..when it comes down to Vince running his mouth it's all about his planet sized ego

    • unknown

and Dana white doesnt have an ego close to that?

      • Code

I didnt say he didnt but then again dana isnt the one running his mouth

  • Moe

This is just preparation for another wwe storyline. Wwe vs UFC.

Dana hit the nail right on the head, so I'm not sure why he even asked why Vince is talking so much sh*t on UFC. It's because they are his biggest competition on PPV at this time. If TNA was selling PPV's at the rate that UFC is Vince would be ragging on them all the time. The guy is obsessively competetive when it comes to his business, and he's always been that way. People tend to forget just how nasty the Monday night wars got. Dana whining about it sure isn't going to make Vince stop. If anything it will give him the idea that Dana is weak and can't handle a little competition, and if that happens Vince will do it even more. I think Vince feels like Dana and the UFC totally ripped off WWE's production style and look when it comes to how their sets look and how they produce their PPV's.

lmfao its obvoisly vince and dana hyping a story line wwe is a fucking show not a sport you guys look way into things. a wwe and ufc story line would be big for both companys. but ya its not about whats real and whats a sport its about selling ppv making money .

Wait! I can see it now! Wrestlemania 29: Vince vs. Dana! Yeah, that's the ticket. That's why Vince keeps poking the grizzly with a stick! He's trying to piss off Dana so Dana will accept Vince's challenge of a match at Wrestlemania 29! Go Vince!
