Daniel Bryan Tweeted the following after the strong crowd reactions for him hijacked both the WWE World Heavyweight Championship match and the Royal Rumble match itself on Sunday night’s pay-per-view from the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania:

Hopefully this gets them to slot Daniel Bryan into the vs. HHH spot at Mania, putting Punk in there when he has no genuine grievances with him is a waste of a great match.

    • Ben

They should have the Elimination Chamber for the WWE WHC and put Bryan over in that along with having him go over Batista at Mania. Instead, he’ll lose at EC and follow it up with a loss to Taker at Mania. It’s frustrating and sad. As for Punk, it seems pretty clear they’re setting up his issues with Kane to lead him towards a match with Triple H to take on the head of The Authority.

      • kayvonbeiram

        The titles are unified….

        • Ben

Yeah, no kidding, I called it the WWE WHC. WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

      • jdl

It seems clear, but it also rings false. Bryan spent the entire fall dealing with the Authority, Punk has had issues with them for a couple of weeks and even then they don’t have much depth to them. “Oh, I insulted Hunter,” insert face punch or two from Authority related people, “ohnoz, E’ERY1 OUT 2 GET ME!”

I also don’t know where you’re getting this losing to Taker thing, last I checked Bryan was slated to take on Shaymoose.

        • Ben

And Bryan’s program with The Authority ended months ago. I’m sorry but it would make no sense at this point for Bryan to go after them when that program is long since over. You’re right about Sheamus, I hadn’t looked at that story before commenting. A lame mid-card match against a guy he’s faced a couple times already? Awesome, definitely excited to see that… ugh

          • jdl

And Punk’s feud with Triple H ended two years ago, what’s your point, and unlike Bryan’s it ended quite firmly. There is plenty leftover for Bryan to go after Triple H for, I should not have to explain that.

          • Ben

Triple H was also a babyface at that time and WWE operates expecting its fans to have very short memories- that is to say, completely forgetting Punk and Trips actually feuded back then. Or that Bryan had issues with The Authority just a few months ago. Punk is encountering problems with The Authority right now and my assumption would be he’ll target the top of The Authority. This whole story has been brewing the past couple months since Punk started feuding with The Shield. I’m not getting what’s complicated about this, to be bluntly honest it’s pretty straightforward to see why the Trips/Punk match makes the most sense. Best of luck in your future endeavors because discussing this further is just pointless.

You’re thinking with too much logic. This is WWE – where you can walk back after 4 years without even a single match and be declared the main event in WrestleMania

  • kingdook24

This is beyond insane. Words cant express how pissed I am for Daniel Bryan and us WWE fans. This PPV was worse than Battleground.

    Yes.

    I said it.

  • Nostaljack

    This. Is. A. Work…and it’s brilliant.

    • BIG M

I don’t know mate I just don’t know about that I mean why have everyone irate at one of there big 4 shows just for a work.
But Bloody hell I hope your right otherwise WWE’s creative future looks very bleak.

      • Nostaljack

I get you. I just think we just need to be patient. Just let it play out. It’ll work itself out. I haven’t lost faith in the least bit and I also kind of enjoy the idea that this many people are getting worked. It’s not easy to do around here so it’s really cool to see.

    • Lebron James

Yup, having the worst backlash of all time, of a life event, was indeed a work. Having the crowd along with everyone at home disinterested in an entire PPV except for the opener, was a work. What a work it was. I hope the ratings tank horribly. Not tuning in until I see the fans are being heard. The WWE is out of hand. Thats what happens when you have no competition, you feel like you can just feed your fans bullsht and they have to take it. Not anymore.

      • Xavier

You’ll be watching, not this “I’m not watching till I get what I want tantrum” bullshit with no intention of actually going through with it

      • Nostaljack

With all due respect, I don’t believe you won’t tune in. You’ll be watching “Raw” on Monday night like everyone else. You’ll watch all the “Raw” episodes leading up the “Wrestlemania” too. We all will. You intuitively know that Vince isn’t as stupid as you’re making him out to be. Vince has been successful at this for a very long time – longer than most readers here have been alive. He’s just not this crazy. He can’t be. He hears what you hear. He heard the “Bryan” chants last night just like you did. Do you really think he’s just totally oblivious? He’s all of a sudden completely incapable of giving fans what they want in any capacity? I don’t buy that and I don’t think you do either. I totally understand your frustration. Funny thing is…Vince does too… ;)

I still think this is part of a storyline that involves him gaining the title at the PPV after Wrestlemania in his hometown. At least I hope that’s where this is going.

All WWE seem to do these days is piss every good moment away

Grumbling and Turning off your TV sets is not the answer. The best way to deal with it is A) if you’re watching on TV to just flood the #raw twitter stream with #DanielBryan messages or B) if you’re in attendance at the event to chant “Daniel Bryan” throughout the entire evening no matter what is actually going on in the ring.

  • K!NG

I’m a db fan n paid to watch the ppv n I’m not bothered at all by it. The ppv was good. Despite the crowd.1 wrestler don’t make or break a show for me. Db is the hottest thing going n was my pick to win the rr since august.

  • Josh

Richard talked all week “don’t get your hopes up for a swerve. Now everyone is trashing the PPV because why Bryan isn’t at the top of the card? I agree he should have been but he wasn’t even advertised for the rumble why be so upset? It seems like the PPV was a fail just because Bryan didn’t pop out of nowhere unnanounced. Don’t get me wrong the WWE needs to capitalize on D-Bry but temper expectations people. Its Wrestlanoa season and no offense but D-Bry isn’t ready to maim event wrestlemnia as far as namesake is concerned. He is a great talent but you can’t say he is 1-C of the company let alone WM main event. I’m a big fan of Bryan but now is not the time to push stars it is the time to build huge matches that will sell the WWE Network. Its all about the $$$$$.

    • Ben

Have you seen the Michigan State “Yes” chants at halftime? I’m not going to pretend Bryan is the mainstream-type draw Brock Lesnar and Undertaker are, or even that he moves the needle like John Cena, but he IS gaining a ton of popularity and deserves to be main eventing WM in a title match. Especially if Cena is facing Bray Wyatt.

  • Xavier

I’m convinced now by reading Bryan’s tweets, Foley’s tweets, Bryan no-showing the Rumble and the by the way Batista was acting heelish after the PPV went off air that this whole thing is a giant work/angle leasing up to something.

    • Ben

I’m a huge skeptic and even I’m thinking something is up here. Even before Bryan’s Tweets, those radio interview comments about the company not seeing money in him? It seemed odd that a consummate professional like Bryan would shoot like that; not that he said anything disrespectful, but it was like he turned into Dolph Ziggler (like his work, but man is he bad with the media). I’ll still believe it when I see it, but this does give some glimmer of hope that maybe, just maybe, Bryan is heading to a main event WM match. And not one against Sheamus. Ugh.

    • Bob’s Diner

I’m not so sure… Batista acting ‘heelish’ doesn’t surprise me – the guy is a tool in real life that thinks he is a superstar, so he may very well have just been reacting to the fans.

The funny thing is, even if this wasn’t all a work, WWE will most likely have to start listening to the fans so it will look like it was part of the storyline

      • Xavier

Lol very good point about Batista.I could sit here and go on & on about how much of a asshole that guy is but I ain’t got that kind of time lol.

And you’re right, it’s one thing for fans too grow impatient with an angle or with a push but it’s another thing for the WWE to prolong a push for so long that the backlash is thrown back at other talent. Fans are starting to take their frustrations out on all the other wrestlers who have absolutely nothing to do with creative not giving Bryan the push he deserves. Yesterday was the perfect example of what would of happened if Austin wouldn’t have shown up in the 98 Rumble or not have went over as far as backlash is concerned.

But like I said, something seems odd about all the tweets Bryan & Foley have been tweeting out. I’m really hoping that Vince hasn’t fallen this far from grace but that just may be wishful thinking at this point.

        • Bob’s Diner

Did you see what Foley’s son said?? I’m just reading it now – got taken down from Facebook. He says some VERY un-nice things about HHH… let me know if you need a link…
