Daniel Bryan’s Royal Rumble Status, Why Dolph Ziggler Was Sent To Pittsburgh For Evaluation

There continues to be a lot of speculation regarding Daniel Bryan’s status for next week’s Royal Rumble pay-per-view after suffering a concussion on last week’s episode of Monday Night Raw.

As we reported here on WrestlingNewsWorld.com, Bryan hasn’t worked since Raw last week as a result of the injury. His clearance hinges on passing an ImPACT concussion test and being asymptomatic. All creative plans for Bryan will be on hold until those two things happen.

Dolph Ziggler, who is also out with a concussion, saw his ImPACT concussion test results within normal limits, however, he wasn’t even cleared for light cardio because he was still experiencing concussion symptoms. Ziggler saw Dr. Mark Lovell at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, a standard procedure for a worker that has suffered a second concussion within an annual year.

WWE’s concussion management program is detailed at this link.

and ryback strikes again, doesnt matter that he wasnt in the match

    • Jay El Bee

If you watched Superstar you would know it wasn’t Ryback’s fault, he threw a high clothesline and instead of ducking under it Ziggler ran right into it.

I have a feeling his concussion isn’t as serious as the WWE is making it out to be. He’ll be a surprise entrance in the Rumble at #30 and win

    • Ashley

I hope so! Can you imagine how loud that crowd will be if that happens?!

      • Xavier

The pop would be thru the roof

Have WWE even publicly acknowledged it yet?

      • Xavier

Not sure, but I could see the WWE pulling a fast one us and having everything one think Bryan is out because if his concussion then BAM! Out comes Bryan at #30

        • JR Texx (Jamie)

That’s what I do .. maybe that’s why they are “over-selling” the concussion?

        • Bob’s Diner

It worked brilliantly with Cena in 2008 – the crowd went nuts! I think I even marked out for that. I can only imagine the ‘Yes!’ chant would be pretty insane

Batista to come out at #29, crowd goes crazy and thinks he’s won it, Bryan’s surprise return at #30, crowd goes even crazier and wins it.

      • Xavier

I could see that happening. There are so many ways they could use Batista at the Rumble. They could have a scenario where Reigns comes out and has a dominate stretch where he eliminates 5 or 6 guys and clears the ring then all of sudden the Animal’s music hits and we get a little back & forth between Batista & Reigns. I’m honestly hoping that we see a finish with Bryan & Punk being the last two guys in the Rumble. How epic would that be?

        • Jimmy

Sounds like a good idea, especially considering how in the past couple of Rumbles they’ve made young heels look pretty good such as Miz and Cody by eliminating a fair few guys. But also lets not forget that Batista is the only advertised surprise entrant, there’s still a possibility that Sheamus could return (doubt he would win it though). And i haven’t been reading many updates so correct me if im wrong but maybe Y2J could make a comeback.

I don’t think it is, there is no way Bryan would be able to do the stuff he did Monday night if his concussion was serious, WWE is probably just taking precaution.. then again considering Ziggler and now Bryan are now out with concussions, can you blame them?

I hope so. Even if DB’s concussion is something of legit concern they could still have him come in at 30 with only 5-6 other guys in the ring, this way they can protect him from doing any spots that put him in danger, allow him to win, then take it easy with him till EC.
