Dish Network Changes Their Position, Will Carry Wrestlemania 30

Dish Network has changed their position and will in fact carry Wrestlemania 30 next month. Details surrounding their about face are not immediately available and the show has not been re-added to the pay-per-view section on their official website.

The provider has really embarrassed themselves, publicly expressing their disdain over WWE pay-per-view availability with a WWE Network subscription. They’ve pointed to their lead competitor, DirecTV, also being upset about WWE Network and have placed the blame completely on WWE. They were the only major provider to immediately pull all WWE PPVs from their schedule, including Elimination Chamber, which was not even featured on WWE Network.

Dish Network will handle WWE pay-per-views on case by case basis moving forward.

Great news! As a dish customer they’ve been nothing but great to me. When I called and voiced my displeasure about them not carrying WWE PPV’s on a full time basis, they simply asked how many I order per year. I answered truthfully and told them about 4-5(WM,RR,Summerslam, and usually one or two more if the card is good). In response they gave me 5 vouchers to use to purchase 5 PPV’s of my choice at no charge over the next 12 months. Looks like I’ll be watching WM for free, while the network subscribers(I do have the network) hope to God the stream can hold up and not crap out. To be honest while I think WWE network will run smoothly at some point, I’ve got a bad feeling WM is gonna be a disaster on the network.

I agree with you and hope i am wrong but i believe that the network is gonna have problems streaming mania this is gonna be the 1st real test and i dont think they should have tried it with a show of this magnitude.

I agree, while I hope it goes smooth and has no issues, I don’t think that’s gonna happen, and I’m not willing to find out. I’ll use one of my vouchers and watch for free on dish and not have to worry about any streaming or lagging issues.

Guys…they have been testing the network before now. Remember NXT Arrival and Main Event the past few weeks. All live if I recall correctly.

          • Cubed56

Yea….and how did NXT Arrival go? It had streaming issues, and there is no way in hell you can tell me that NXT Arrival and Main Event are drawing even close to the amount of traffic that WM will have. Like I said I’m hoping it works out perfectly, but I gotta admit, I have a bad feeling and think they will have major issues.

Of course they’re not going to draw Mania numbers so even if they got the system down perfect for those shows, it could still crash for Mania. I can’t imagine they’re not preparing for that with backup servers and their tech team on overtime that day. However, testing it out with Arrival and Main Event are so smart. Plus, look at the interest it’s given to NXT and Main Event…two shows I didn’t know much about until the Network.

          • Cubed56

You just reaffirmed my questions about WM on the network. Of course its smart of them to test, but i doubt those two shows draw even 20% of what mania will, so although they are testing there is no way to test for thr numbers mania will draw

Look at it this way then…I’d rather gamble $10 for the chance at Wrestlemania not working live then to pay $60 on cable. Plus theres no free replay on cable…but on the network I can watch it when I want and however many times I want. Theres going to be advantages and disadvantages to the network. No one really likes change but given Vince’s overall track record if we give things enough time the kinks will get worked out. I watched Main Event live last night for the first time and for the most part I had no problems. We are all at the mercy of the internet if we want to watch online but thats what things are steadily going to…whether we like it or not.

          • Cubed56

Once again thank you for re-affirming my stance. You watched main event and you said “for the most part I had no problems”, which means there was some issues with a show that probably drew 10% of the amount WM will maybe, probably more around 5%. I understand your point gambling with. $10 instead of spending $60, but like I said it will be free for me, and I can record it on my dvr so I can also watch it back anytime I want. I hope it does work with no flaws for everyone watching on the network, but i highly doubt it, so like I said instead of taking that chance, I’ll watch it for free on dish with very little worries of losing the feed.

I dont blame you. Ill be one of the ones to find out me and a buddy of mine always watch them at his house and hes got the network so wish us luck.

Weil that’s great to know I’ve already joined the network. How ever if the network freezes ups or fails I’ve got another option. I’ve been worried about.

Carrying a WWE PPV is virtually free money. Even if you forget all the individual customers and look completely at bars and restaurants and even movie theaters. When they order a PPV, they have to order it as many times as seats available (regardless if it’s a full house or not). Even just a handful of businesses, not to mention the thousands in reality; that’s great money. Sure, not all have Dish but why anyone at Dish would want to lose out on ANY money (especially with their embarrassments with Blockbuster Video lately) is beyond me.
