Dolph Ziggler Admits World Title Has Gone Down In Value

Channel 24 out of South Africa has a new Q&A online with Dolph Ziggler to promote WWE’s upcoming live event tour of the country that was conducted on June 13, 2013. In it, Ziggler admits the World Heavyweight Championship doesn’t have the same interest and prestige it did when Triple H held it.

Below is how Ziggler answered the question:

Honestly, no, I don’t think so. Here’s the deal. As a titleholder of a championship, you are the representatives of the company. You are the champion, you are the face of either Raw or Smackdown, and for some reason in the past couple of years the WHC has gone down in value from the fans’ standpoint and perhaps from an administrative standpoint. As we understand it the WWE Championship is the title of Monday Night Raw and that is the flagship of WWE. But my goal, every single time I’ve touched anything, I found a way to bring prestige back to something that used to be a stepping stone. To me, the WHC is one of the biggest prizes in the game of all time, because I grew up as a huge fan of it. So now, my goal is to have this become the premiere title in sports entertainment. Whether that can happen, I don’t know, but I am just getting started. I’m a couple weeks into it, and I promise if it has anything to do with me, then it will become the prize that it was.

It’s not that the belt has lost value it’s just that people are realizing the origin of the belt and that WWE has been trying to get their grubby paws on it since the 80s, when they have no business using the belt. They should just do the right thing and give it back to NWA.

So in other words you are saying that Dolph Ziggler is wrong & you are right??? The worst thing about the iwc is that people actually start believing they know more about the business than professionals who are actually in the buisness

Funny, Ziggler didn’t think the belt was losing it’s value when he was holding it. Sounda like sour grapes too me.

Yes your right he said ” my goal, every single time I’ve touched anything, I found a way to bring prestige back to something that used to be a stepping stone. To me, the WHC is one of the biggest prizes in the game of all time, because I grew up as a huge fan of it. So now, my goal is to have this become the premiere title in sports entertainment. Ziggler had the interview while he was still holding the belt.

I promise you that almost no one knows the origins of the belt. The everyday fan knows nothing of the NWA either.

      • Patrick

Die-hard wrestling fans who have watched wrestling for Years know the history of the WWE World HeavyWeight belt that used to be the NWA belt that Flair, Lou Thez, Dusty Rhodes and many others once held.

        • EricDraven86

The lineage is arguable on the WHC. The NWA/WCW line ended with the Undisputed championship, which later became the WWE title. The current WHC is the same belt as the late 80′s NWA/WCW Title, and the mid-90′s+ WCW title though.

        • Nostaljack

That accounts for a very low percentage of WWE’s viewing audience.

      • sir-rusty82

        WHO CARES!!!!

        • Nostaljack

You do, a little – hence this post.

          • sir-rusty82

Nope its the most irrelevant & boring fact Iv ever read on this site

  • Spuddyz

The WHC is essentially what the IC title used to be.

    • Andy Williams

That’s exactly what i was gonna say. Though in terms of match cards it’s often on before the IC

Just throwin’ this out there, but I’d like to see Ziggler, Bryan and Christian feud over the belt. Might actually see some quality wrestling. In fact the three of them should form an alliance or a coalition if you will. They could then proceed to beat Del Rio to near death using Ricardo as their weapon. AND THEN they could all hold the title at once and then lose it five (two?) days later in a match that would only last 10 seconds. They could lose it to Orton, Sheamus or even back to Del Rio. Now THAT’S ratings! :P

      if u will?

  • Lebron James

Triple H made that tittle seem like the most important thing in the world. He made you believe he couldn’t live without it. Whether Ziggler or any current star has the ability to do that, I don’t know, but if anybody can, it’s Ziggler.

  • Scott Davies

What Dolph said there is what I also truly think. With WWE no longer doing the brand extension I really don’t see why we need 2 World Titles for anyway.

  • chris

As soon as Khali won it, it was worthless.

  • Charles

Even though it’s on both shows it is perceived as Smackdowns champion. Smackdown is clearly the B show how often is Cena or CM Punk ever on there. Also MIB cash ins are fun but they do cheapen what it takes to be a champion.

Wwe has lost value in general
