Dolph Ziggler Calls The Beginning Of His WWE Career “Frustrating”

The Kingston Whig-Standard has a new article online featuring quotes from Dolph Ziggler to promote the WWE Smackdown live event in the city on September 9th. Below is an excerpt:

“Honestly, for years it was frustrating,” Ziggler said of the eight-plus year journey that has been his WWE career. “It just goes along with everything that has happened in my career. I plugged along to make my college wrestling team. I wasn’t recruited. And then when I made it, I became the best on the team to where I could get a scholarship. And I got a scholarship. Nothing has been handed to me no matter what I’ve done, in life or this business.

“As much as I wanted things to happen four and five years ago, I go ‘people have been handed things and it doesn’t always work out.’ No matter what, at the end of the day, I know that I have earned this, and anything that comes to me now, the fans, or the world, or anyone who just has an opinion can’t go ‘oh yeah, he was handed this,’ or ‘yeah, he had a great two months …’ I have been on a constant build, clawing or scratching for every inch I’ve ever gotten in this business and I continue to do it to this day.”

Of ourse he'd call it frustrating. He was first brought in as a caddy when Chavo was Kerwin White and then he was a male cheerleader before he got a push

He was the caddy? I'd totally forgotten about Kerwin White.

Frustrating would be an understatement, I think.
The Spirit Squad, followed by a year or so of "Hi, I'm Dolph Ziggler"… it was certainly frustrating for the viewers.

    Go dolph go!

I love that Ziggler has stuck it out and kept improving. After "The Spirit Squad" got "sent back to OVW" in the crate by DX, I really thought that was the end of the flash in the pan team. Ziggler for the past two years have been one of my favorites after his matches with Bryan at Bragging Rights and the Monday after.

Watching his rise through the ranks and even his attitude are inspirational to me.

    He’s a mark for himself.
