ECW on SCI-FI Results - 04/03/07

Fort Wayne, Indiana

Report By: Buck Woodward of PWInsider.com

ECW on Sci-Fi Opener:

ECW on SciFi for April 3rd started with the opening video, then went immediately to the ring for Bobby Lashley's entrance. Lashley came out, smiling, and took the microphone. He said that Wrestlemania 23 was the biggest moment of his life, and that it was unbelievable. He said that everyone was talking about the Battle Of The Billionaires, noting all the media coverage. Lashley then had them show the still shot of Lashley and Donald Trump shaving Vince McMahon's head at Wrestlemania. We then had a recap of McMahon having his bald head exposed on Raw by Lashley. Lashley said that he knew Vince McMahon would try to make his life a living hell, but he didn't care. Lashley said no matter what Vince sends against him, nothing will stop him. Lashley left the ring, and they plugged the ECW Originals vs. New Breed match for later tonight.

CM Punk vs. Stevie Richards

The start:

Punk had his ribs taped from the Money In The Bank match at Wrestlemania. Punk hit a shoulderblock and grabbed a side mare, but was favoring his ribs. Punk reversed a whip attempt and grabbed another side mare, got a two count, then went to a headlock. Richards got to the ropes to break and went for a kick to the gut, but Punk blocked it and kicked Richards in the thigh.

Mid-match notes:

Punk hit a spinkick, but was hurting and only got a two count. Richards shoulderblocked Punk in the ribs and stomped him in a corner. Richards hit a pair of knees to the ribs, then hit a vertical suplex. Richards whipped Punk hard into a corner and mocked Punk. Richards went for an abdominal stretch, but Punk reversed it into a cradle for two. Richards kicked Punk in the gut and applied the abdominal stretch, locking it in this time. Punk broke out of it, but Richards monkeyflipped him. Punk hit a kick, then Richards missed a charge in the corner.

The Finish:

Punk hit three jumping knees in the corner, then bulldogged Richards for a two count. Punk went for a suplex, but couldn't get him up. Richards went for a vertical suplex, but Punk floated over, hit a slap, a spinning backfist and an enzugiri. Punk hit the GTS (Go To Sleep, which is what Tazz called it) for the win at the five minute mark.

Winner - CM Punk

Backstage:

Backstage, Timbaland and Rob Van Dam were hanging out, with RVD saying how Timbaland knows all about being Extreme. RVD walked off, and Extreme Expose entered. They told Timbaland that they wanted to be in his next music video, and that they were going to show him some dance moves tonight.

Backstage:

Backstage, Matt Striker and Marcus Cor Von were telling CM Punk how well he did and tried to recruit him for the New Breed. Punk said he was on his own, and was walking off, when Cor Von got in his face and said "If you're not with the New Breed, you're against them". Punk was about to get into it with Cor Von, but Striker calmed things down and just told Punk to watch what the New Breed do tonight to the Originals.

In the arena:

Extreme Expose danced (what a surprise, to a Timbaland song) with chairs. Once again, they did that bit where Layla and Brooke do a dance move, then Kelly does it, sort of like an instant replay.

Hardcore Holly vs. Snitsky

The start:

Snitsky went for the big boot at the start, but Holly ducked it and hit some right hands. Snitsky shoved Holly away and hit a clothesline, then stomped him down in a corner. Snitsky choked Holly, but the referee made him break. Holly threw some kicks, but Snitsky just absorbed it and hit Holly and slammed him, then dropped two elbows on Holly for a two count. Snitsky whipped Holly into a corner, but ran into a Holly boot to the face. Holly then ran into a Snitsky side slam for a two count.

The Finish:

Snitsky decked Holly with a right hand and dared Holly to get up, then covered him for a two count. Holly threw two chops, but Snitsky hit a knee to the gut and went for a vertical suplex. Holly floated over it and lifted Snitsky for an Alabama Slam. Snitsky hit Holly in the ribs, and Holly put Snitsky back down. Snitsky then hit a big boot to the face for the pin at the three minute mark.

Winner - Snitsky

The Aftermath:

Post-match, Snitsky kicked Holly to the floor, then hit him in the ribs, arm and leg with a steel chair. Snitsky then took apart the ring steps and put Holly's arm between the sections. Snitsky then hit the top of the steps with the chair three times, "crushing" Holly's arm. This was actually almost done perfectly, as Holly's arm was in the hollow part of the steps, and except for the initial shot, WWE showed it from an angle where you couldn't tell where his arm was. If they hadn't shown that initial shot of where Holly had his arm, you'd never be able to tell how Holly wasn't getting his arm crushed. Holly sold it like it was broken as Snitsky walked off.

Extreme Rules Match

Rob Van Dam, The Sandman, Sabu and Tommy Dreamer vs.

Matt Striker, Marcus Cor Von, Kevin Thorn and Elijah Burke

The ECW Originals actually entered through the entranceway, not the crowd. Other than Sandman with his cane, no one had weapons in hand yet. They went to break before the match began.

The start:

Back from break, Sabu was covering Striker for a two count. Sabu hit a springboard DDT for another two, then applied a camel clutch. Thorn ran in the break it up, and a brawl broke out. RVD went under the ring and started throwing weapons into the ring. The ECW Originals cleaned house with trash cans and stop signs. The New Breed bailed out to the floor.

Mid-match notes:

Sandman, Sabu and RVD all hit dives to the floor. In the ring, Dreamer whipped Striker into a trash can that was wedged in a corner. Cor Von came in and gave Dreamer a drop toe hold into a chair. There was brawling continuing on the floor. Burke and Striker double teamed Dreamer, and soon the New Breed were all in the ring working over Dreamer with weapons while keeping Sandman, Sabu and RVD out of the ring. Thorn broke his cane on Dreamer and Burke covered, but Dreamer kicked out. Dreamer mounted a comeback, hitting a DDT on Thorn and neckbreaker on Burke at the same time. Sabu, RVD and Sandman made it back into the ring. Air Sabu on Cor Von, off of RVD's back. Sabu and RVD hit the Original Rolling Thunder, with a chair, on Striker. Cor Von powerbombed Sabu, but Sandman broke up the cover.

Burke hit Sandman with a trash can, but Dreamer hit Burke with a stop sign. Dreamer hung Burke to the Tree Of Woe, and Sabu held a chair in front of him so Dreamer could dropkick it in his face. Dreamer gave Striker a spinebuster into a trash can. Cor Von hit Dreamer with a chair. Sandman hit Cor Von with the cane. Sandman went after Cor Von, but Cor Von mounted a big comeback, giving Dreamer a back suplex onto a chair and giving Sandman the pounce. RVD and Sabu finally stopped Cor Von with chair shots. Thorn ran in and threw a chair at Sabu, then clotheslined RVD. Thorn went to powerbomb RVD into a table propped in the corner, but RVD flipped out of it and hit a back elbow. RVD went to the top rope, but Ariel crotched him on the top. Thorn went after RVD, but Sabu threw a chair at Thorn and hit him in the head.

The Finish:

Sabu put Thorn on a table. Sabu and RVD hit a double legdrop off the top rope and put Thorn through the table. Cor Von pulled RVD out of the ring. Striker charged at Sabu with a stop sign, but Sabu backdropped him over the top rope. However, this allowed Burke to hit the Elijah Express (double jumping knee) to Sabu's back, driving him head first through the table that was propped in the corner. Burke got the pin on Sabu at the nine minute mark.

Winners - The New Breed

The Aftermath:

The New Breed celebrated in the aisle as they showed some replays of the final spots, and the announcers noted that the New Breed had beaten the Originals in "their kind of match".
