Edge’s WWE Contract Coming Up This Month; Details On The Company’s Efforts To Re-Sign Him

Edge’s current WWE contract is expected to expire at the end of this month. While his career ended after his match at Wrestlemania XXVII last year, he has continued to collect his downside guarantee and is booked for appearances through the WWE office.

WWE is negotiating a new deal with Edge and want to put together a deal where they would be able to fully utilize him despite the fact he can no longer wrestle. The deal differs from a Legend’s contract in that he would require more money and WWE would want to do more than just use his name for licensing purposes on merchandise.

Workers under similar contracts include Mick Foley and Shawn Michaels.

YES! YES! YES! hope edge does re-sign, miss seeing him on our screens and i know he won't be able to wrestle again :( need more workers like him.

  • Zack Ryder

Its good to see that wwe is trying to keep a contract with Edge although he can't wrestle anymore. One of the all-time best in my book!

  • AJG316

Prediction-wwe will have edge as gm of raw or smackdown (please let this be true)

    • Miles

Somehow they’ll probably work in the old mystery raw gm aka the laptop edge trashed?

  • Patrick_Peralta

maybe he could do the GM Role on SD which is concidered his home. ( aside from Undertaker ) or have him replace Michael Cole and be at the announce table.

    • Justin

      I agree.

  • Dave Barton

Foley & HBK…he’d be in good company.

  • Noah

YES YES YES ! Sorry I just had too

  • matt

Make Edge a commentator, have him replace the dreadful Michael Cole

  • Mabus

Wouldn't it be great if Edge got the Smackdown GM gig, once this one GM thing blows over.

  • Ricky Valdez

Edge one of the all time when it comes to tagging with christian, but not all time great when it comes to singles wrestling, don’t get me wrong he was a good wrestler counter wrestlers, but not an alltime great as a singles wrestler.

    • XKonn247

How the hell can you justify that? Edge had some of the best singles matches of the last decade!

    • fahd

Where have you been for past 8 years edge is the best world champion in the last decade I have seen. He rivalry with john cena was epic and with undertaker wow. He is in the same league as rock austin taker hbk triple h

  • jonathon212

  • Craig

I wish people would learn how to use the proper English phrases.

  • gdbd

edge was great and it sucks he had to retire although i am glad he did it before he got into more trouble with his neck i wish more young guys had his IT factor

  • Cena Sucks

    Let the Edgeheads rise again!!

  • Kevin

Good one AJG316! That may be why they went with the one manager/2 brands storyline. Perhaps Teddy is ready to retire. Better idea: Put Teddy back in charge of Smackdown (obviously he was doing a good job since he lasted for years while Raw went through GM after GM, including the "anonymous" GM). Edge could be brought in as Raw GM, and the world would be perfect.

  • Eddie

i would love to see edge become tue gm of one of the shows…..

it would be awesome if the bring back the concept of gms of the two.shows trying sign the same superstar for their show….. they could really use such a storyline in this pg era where the storylines are meant to go down the drain because they can’t make them edgy without breaching the pg code…..
and who would be better in making the show a bit edgy than EDGE himself….. he wasn’t the rated r superstar for nothing!!!

i wish they make one show rated pg and the other one rated r….

that’ll keep the kids happy… and make the adults happy once again….

    unlikely to happen though…

Edge was one of the all time greats, hands down. He could play a heel or face equally well. He could be serious or he could do comedy (eg. romance with Vicky). He was also great on the mic and could really get the crowd going. There are very few wrestlers ever who had the range of talent that Edge has.

  • Greg Roberts

Hopefully the opening of last night's Raw is a prelude of things to come between Edge and John Laurinaitis. He (Laurinaitis) does make a good heel boss, but the problem is that there is no Stone Cold to his Vince.
