WWE Releases Emma Just Over 48 Hours After Shoplifting Arrest

WWE has released Emma just over 48 hours after her arrest for shoplifting at a Walmart in Hartford, Connecticut, Emma has been released from WWE. The company issued the following statement Wednesday afternoon on dot com:

WWE has come to terms on the release of WWE Diva Emma as of today, July 2, 2014. WWE wishes Emma the best in all her future endeavors.

News broke on Tuesday morning that Emma (whose real name is Tenille Dashwood) was arrested on Monday afternoon at a Walmart in Hartford and charged with sixth degree larceny. She was released one hour and thirteen minutes after her arrest and was backstage at this week’s show, which emanated from Hartford.

WWE issued a statement, explaining that Emma was “ultimately responsible for her personal actions” but confirmed they were aware of the arrest. Emma’s lawyer said on Tuesday afternoon the arrest was a mistake and that his client would complete community service.

As it turns out, Emma walked out of the Walmart having not paid for a red iHome ‘Slim Swivel’ iPad Mini case that was on sale for $21.14. Her mug shot was attached to a release issued by local police.

We knew the arrest could spell disaster for Emma as we reported on June 25, 2014 here on WrestlingNewsWorld.com that the Australian Diva was rarely discussed and her future was “questionable” at best.

    That… Sucks

  • Zack

Oh but Jack Swagger gets caught with drugs (not to meantion causes serious injuries to Wade Barrett and Dolph Ziggler) and he’s in for a solid push/face turn

    • K!NG

Swagger didn’t get caught with drugs… He was arrested for a DUI while he was high on Marijuana. he admitted to the cop he had been smoking pot. Both Ziggler and Barrett have a history of injury’s. RVD use to concuss everyone and no one(besides karen angle) use to bitch about it. If you watched smacked down you would have seen swagger barley push wade.

      • Mysterion

Sorry, how is that better. “No officer, I don’t have drugs. I smoked them all, got behind the wheel of a motor vehicle in a state of intoxication, thus becoming a danger to myself, other motorists and pedestrians”. Yea. I see how that’s better and much less condemnable than “I’m sorry officer, I inadvertently forgot to scan my ipad case”. Not to mention, Swagger did it right before WrestleMania, when WWE is at it’s highest profile as far as mainstream media goes.

        • K!NG

not saying it is any better but how many people have you heard dying in a car accident cause they smoked pot ? i could understand if it was alcohol but it wasn’t. I dont condone driving under the influence but seriously bigger stars have done far worse like steve austin and jeff hardy

          • Mysterion

Pot is a drug that causes very similar symptoms to being drunk. Also, smoking lot is illegal. Drinking alcohol isn’t.

          • K!NG

Pot is legal in two states and is legal in for medical use in over 20 states now and from my personal experience when i was a young lad it has no effects like alcohol sorry. once again i don’t condone what swagger did.

          • Mysterion

So, you assume no one else here has touched pot? You’re blatantly excusing Swagger. Like it or not you are. If driving stoned wasn’t illegal he wouldn’t have been charged and faced a prison sentence. Pot seriously hinders senses. If abused frequently it can also cause hallucinations. As well as paranoia, panic, anxiety, sickness, light headedness and then some. Sorry for crapping on your “experiences” but pot doesn’t have the same reactions with every single user.

          • K!NG

i agree but i am not excusing him i just dont have a problem reminding people that we turn a blind eye to the guys we like and look for any reason to pile it onto the guys we dont like. people like emma which is why people are saying this stupid by wwe people hate swagger and people want him gone. that is my point people like jeff hardy and steve austin do the same thing but we like them so we can forgive and forget.

          • Mysterion

I dunno about forget. A lot of people turned very quickly on Hardy after the TNA incident. There’s only so many times you can pull that same sh**.

          • K!NG

exactly but he did one the worst thing’s a wrestler could do and that is show up to a main event F’d out of ur mind. But the guy still has a big following .

          • josh

Cause him and Matt both made complete turn arounds

          • Bob’s Diner

Really? Considering Matt got kicked out of rehab for drinking and earlier this year was arrested for beating his wife.. oh yeah, he is a great role model now

          • http://www.wrestlingnewsworld.com/ Kendra Bunyon

I’ve seen Matt Hardy a half dozen times in recent years. I saw him just before WM, and he was in outer space. He was so screwed up on something that his wife had to do all the talking for him. Jeff might have turned himself around, but Matt is an absolute bloody mess and needs to be in rehab, not back with TNA.

          • http://www.wrestlingnewsworld.com/ Kendra Bunyon

I haven’t turned a blind eye to either of them, or even RVD who is open about his smoking, or Sabu who was caught with RVD on that fateful night. Sabu lost his job, RVD only lost the strap. Shows more about politics than anything.

          • joe

Weed doesn’t cause hallucinations… Where do you people get this stuff? THC cant make you trip, its literally impossible unless its laced with something

          • Nathen

Except studies have shown that habitual pot smokers are not impaired while driving high.

          • http://www.wrestlingnewsworld.com/ Kendra Bunyon

I’d be quite interested in those studies, because everything I’ve read has said the exact opposite.

          • Nathen

Here is a link to a driving study. Though small, it reveals interesting information. Note that the heaviest smoker drive the best and took way over the it’ll limit before she was really impaired.

Also, I am providing a couple other links. An insurance company that looks at raw data vignetting traffic accidents revealed that pot smokersa group are less likely to get in an accident than those not under the influence at all. The effects of marijuana are mild and unlikely to effect driving.

          • Evon Callaway Bitterweed Reese

I grew up in the 70′s and I can tell you without a doubt smoking pot does impair your driving ability. I don’t need a study to tell me. Heck I was the study lol. Thankfully I grew up.

          • J Vomkrieg

While I agree with you, i had to smile at someone called “bitterweed” saying negative things about pot :)

          • Evon Callaway Bitterweed Reese

Lmao. It’s a nickname my Daddy gave me when I was a little girl.

          • J Vomkrieg

Citation needed. Even NORML, the activist group for weed legalization recommends you don’t smoke pot and drive. They say its nowhere near as bad as drinking and driving in terms of control, but they still caution against doing it.

          • Nathen

Citations below. To clarify, I don’t encourage driving under the influence. But recent independent studies are starting to reveal it isn’t so dangerous.

Another thing to remember is that many previous studies had major biases.

          • J Vomkrieg

I have a fondness for people who can deliver when I say, “citations needed”, cheers!

          • joe

As someone who’s been smoking weed regularly for 3-4 years i can safely say you have never smoked weed in your life and you get all your info from online, if you think you did, you didn’t, law isn’t the line in the sand for right and wrong by the way, just because somethings legal doesn’t mean its better than something that isn’t

        • joe

You make it sound so much worse than it really is, its easy to make someone look bad when you give a highly descriptive sentence trying to make them look as horrible as possible, it was only weed, it doesn’t effect your driving nearly as much as you think

    • Xavier

Could not have said it better myself

    • Venom

I hope this isn’t the end and considering they’ll be in Australia in 5 weeks fans voice their opinions. If she paid for other stuff in that self service scanner she wouldn’t intentionally steal a messily $21 case. This is why I never use those and stick to paying the old fashion way.

Maybe fans can petition something similar to Matt Hardys first release or Daniel Bryan’s.

      • Venom

Also want to add that on RAW I did think something was up when Santino was saying how Emma didn’t show up to his party and Adam Rose came to cheer him up that Emma would be away for awhile.

    • flex brown

Weed is stoll considered drugs grow up man

    • King James

That Barret injury wasn’t Swaggers fault at all. Look it over. Jack did nothing out of the norm, it was simply a freak accident.

    • joe

are you saying making an independent choice in your lifestyle regarding what you do with your body that hurts nobody in any aspect (smoking weed) is worse than stealing? That’s completely unfair and biased, i feel that this is a case of justifyng a wrestler you like actions by pointing the actions of a wrestler you don’t like being swaggers actions which are ancient history

      • Mysterion

Dude. Just shut up. Smoking weed is pathetic and childish. Grow up. Or at least do a proper drug.

  • King James

Very stupid move by WWE. I don’t get it. She had so much potential.

    • flex brown

      Really? In my miz voice

  • BrooksOglesby

She was my favorite Diva, so I’m very disappointed about this. Can’t say I’m surprised, though. It’s clear they didn’t know how to book her on the main roster and lost interest in her. Coupling that with bad publicity and WWE’s recent cost-cutting measures, her release wasn’t out of the realm of possibility. What a shame.

    • MonstaHeel450

…..and yet Rosa Mendes still works. WTFN justice?

      • BrooksOglesby

I imagine Total Divas is why she’s still around. But hey, Emma’s back! This is a time for celebration.

  • Anon

Very surprised by that as even the court threw the case out…

  • skidmarkgn

The decisions made about the diva’s division just get more and more confusing every day.

  • dave

@kingjames, she shoplifted, theft is a serious offense. If WWE didn’t release her it would have created very bad publicity for WWE as brooks mentioned. If you stole something and your job found out would they continue your employment with them, no they wouldn’t

    • Mysterion

Dude… Why didn’t you just hit the reply button? :-)

    • Simon Veitch

Accidental theft that would have the charges dropped on completion of the community service. Nothing like those totally safe DUI’s others get right? Shoplifting kills and such.

  • Patrick

not suprised at all. knew it would happen.

  • The Breaker

I liked Emma. She was used really well in NXT. But not so much on the main roster. Honestly, if their plan was to keep pairing her up with Santino, then it’s no huge loss for the fans. She never would’ve gained any traction doing that, and the majority of people wouldn’t know how good she really is. I hope things turn around for Paige, as VKM doesn’t seem to have much faith in her either.

  • Splat

So, saw this coming. How sad…

  • Iffy

And here is the truth: the WWE is glad to be rid of any diva that E! doesn’t want on Total Divas.

The division has never received more than 30 minutes of airtime in a week of 6 hours of programming in the last half dozen years, and that includes their roles as side attractions to the male storylines. Vince doesn’t think his audience cares about women beyond their physical appearances. Any attempt from the trainers to relay a message that said otherwise was met with indifference. Even with the stellar matches that the women had been giving in NXT nothing has changed how they are booked on RAW and SmackDown.

“Be entertaining in three minutes; and that includes entrance time.”

It was clear during the matches with the commentary provided by Michael Cole, and therefore screamed to him from the back by Vince himself, to bury almost any Divas match. JBL doesn’t help at all, which is sad, because when he isn’t being an asshole, he is one damn good colour man. Given three to five minutes for a match and the occasional mic time on the App, any performer is then dependent on the announce team, solely. If I may go so far as saying that the reason we look back so fondly of the Attitude Era and think that it was so loaded with talent, most of that talent was Jim Ross’ announcing.

If you are looking to place blame on the expendability of the Divas in the WWE you would look at the writing and production of their programming. In other words, Vince and Vince.

  • Tom Mayer

    Nice…

So rather than try to stand up and defend their employees, they make a mistake that seemed rather honest, and they’d toss someone aside like garbage.

I know it doesn’t mean much but I can’t wait for August to roll around so I can pay them the end of my 6 month Network commitment and be done with WWE all together.

If they’ll cast out someone who hurts themselves night after night to put money in the McMahon family pockets for something that is petty theft (and supposedly an honest mistake) what will they think of us?

She’s a young person ( and I make no distinction between male or female ) who is going to make mistakes. Like the McMahon family are angels themselves.

  • Terra Ryzing

This sucks….screw the CM Punk chants, everyone needs to start chanting for Emma, especially during divas matches.

    • Tom Mayer

Yeah so the ICW can bash them for being Emma fans just like people are bashed for liking CM Punk.

It’s the same ****, different channel.

      • Mysterion

You’re not seeing why people hate the Punk chants, are you? CM Punk quit. He walked away. He retired. He let his contract run down. He wants nothing to do with WWE, the fans, the guys he worked with or any thing in wrestling. So chanting his name is just a damn insult to the guys in the ring who want to be there.

        • Tom Mayer

It’s not an insult to the workers in the WWE.. It’s a slap in the face to the over prideful powers that be in the WWE that they screwed up big time. Someone like Triple H isn’t going to see this unless he’s slapped in the face with it every show.

Punk walked out for his convictions, and he was right about it. He was well within his right, if you are unhappy with your job, you leave. WWE owns the responsibility of making a positive work environment, and they failed at that.

          • Tom Mayer

Besides what do they care about whether their workers are insulted? Accidental issue at walmart with their self service check out line and they’re future endeavored.. Nice message to send to everyone.

          • Mysterion

Look, dude. You’re clearly one of these stubborn, hard headed dudes who thinks CM Punk is actually right here. Do some research. Vince WANTED him back. Vince OFFERED him more money, Vince even gave him a WWE Title match at Mania. Punk said no. He cried like a bitch, walked away and flipped off all the fans. But, go ahead. Defend him. I’m not gonna waste my time.

          • Tom Mayer

You are one of the people who think that money solves everything.
He’s been down that route before. All roads lead to the same bull****.

I reserve judgement for the truth, and since nothing has officially came from Punk or Vince’s mouth, and WWE has taken shots on air towards the situation, I tend to want to side with Punk. No one asked you to try to “enlighten me” and nobody cares about your “wasted time.”

          • Mysterion

Oh no. The internet doesn’t care about me! Whatever will I do. Dude, he’s gone. He walked. He wasn’t pushed. I’d be pissed if I was his employer, too. Paying him six figures a month to not return calls and sit on his ass?

          • Tom Mayer

            Continue wasting your time :)

          • Mysterion

Resorting to emoticons and trolling during a discussion? Fantastic.

          • Tom Mayer

CM PUNK! CM PUNK! CM PUNK! CM PUNK! CM PUNK! CM PUNK!

          • flex brown

            Ur a MARK

          • Tom Mayer

            you’re*

          • Bob’s Diner

HHH will never care; the dude is way too self-involved to give a crap about what people are chanting. Chanting CM Punk in a Daniel Bryan segment only tells the office that Daniel Bryan isn’t important. Chant it at Randy Orton or HHH? He’ll tell you it is because he is drawing heel heat or something… it is honestly a waste of time.

          • Tom Mayer

            That i will agree with.

          • joe

Punk left because of his convictions, his belief that he wasn’t being utilized properly, this is the l wrestler who the night before he left entered the rumble at 1 and nearly won, the month before he beat the shield ina 3 on 1 handicap match, before that he basically headlined summerslam against lesnar, a year before he left he was coming to the end of the longest wwe title reign in 25 years, the only conviction punk had was “im cm punk and its all about me”

  • Harlie Boucher

If it’s true that she did forget to pay for something at small as that, it really sucks that she’s getting this punished for it. Getting to the main roster was the worst thing to happen for her career.

    • Simon Veitch

If she was still on NXT and thus held in higher regard for her ring work, I can say with almost absolute certainty she would have done her community service, maybe had her push held back a little bit and then been back to normal and still employed. Putting her in a crappy gimmick in front of a huge audience and then taking her off TV all together put her in bad standing to begin with unfortunately.

      • Tom Mayer

I agree, getting paired with Santino is a death sentence.

  • Rob

    The Walmart. I love it

  • David F

Hopefully once Triple H takes over he will give divas chance to showcase their skills. Sucks Emma was cut. She was hot and could actually wrestle! At least now we can count days till Cameron leaves since she has no purpose nosince she and Naomi split

    • Bob’s Diner

Seriously, do you not realise the input HHH has and has had backstage for the past 12 years???
The guy cut short Seth Rollins’ celebrations at Money in the Bank so he could have his theme played and stand around and get the attention on himself. I doubt he gives 2 craps about the divas

  • flex brown

Im absolutely shocked at the amount of emma fans out there she was horrible if u like that u should really tune in to impact on thursday n watch some legit sexy female wrestlers who make the wwe divas look a jv league lol

    • Tom Mayer

Too bad they’d probably get paid better working for Hooters. Actually, if im not too mistaken, some of them did work there part time because the Carter family wouldn’t pay them table scraps so they could afford Hogan for a few years.

    • Simon Veitch

Clearly you’ve not seen Emma wrestle outside of that horrible gimmick, Tenille has a lot of talent but just hasn’t been able to showcase it with her ditsy gimmick

  • MonstaHeel450

The EMMAlution has been stopped….by an unpaid IPad?! Lol. What an EMMAcile!!
    (Sorry, couldn’t resist :))
