Evan Bourne’s Long Road To Recovery, WWE GMs, Turning John Cena, Unionizing Pro Wrestling

Is there any new news on Evan Bourne? How he’s doing and return?

Evan Bourne continues to work hard training and undergo physical therapy for his seriously injured foot. He regularly provides updates on his status on his official Twitter account at this link. Bourne’s injury is severe in nature and there is no timetable currently available for his return to WWE.

Do the General Managers for Raw and/or Smackdown have any real responsibilities?

No, the General Manager roles are 100% storyline. Everything they do/say is pre-planned by the writers and producers and their only role is to play the character just as an actor would in a movie.

Does the fact WWE refuses to turn John Cena heel limit where they can go in terms or writing storylines. After all one of the best angles in wrestling history was the heel turn of Hulk Hogan.

I, along with most readers, would encourage an all-out heel turn for John Cena for much-needed character progression. WWE won’t do it because he’s the company’s top draw and Vince McMahon remains pleased with the merchandise he moves. The mentality is if it isn’t broke why fix it? I agree there would be a way to turn Cena to perhaps top the turn of Hogan but it’s up to WWE creative and ultimately Vince McMahon.

With growing concerns from WWE talent about the pay and compensation they are receiving; can you see a union for professional wrestlers forming in the future?

We get questions from time-to-time about a pro wrestling union with the issue really being brought the the forefront after the Benoit tragedy, however, I don’t see how it would be possible. Performer’s contracts in WWE are signed as independent contractor agreements, where the workers agree they are not classified as employees even though the company stipulates very specifically when and where they can work. Former workers have challenged the contracts in court, however, they are iron clad in terms of validity and enforcement.

I for one would support a Union in pro wrestling, to prevent people in power like Vince Mcmahon, from bullying the wrestlers, and so they would earn better pay and benefits.

  • Bigdaddychuck

I wonder if they would turn him if ppl started chanting die Cena die like when they did to rock at first. Or maybe call him asshole to te point you have to turn him heel.

  • outkazt09

I doubt Hogan’s heel turn will ever be topped.

    • Ricky

Hogan's heel turn was one of the most shocking turns in Wrestling History. The only way WWE could have topped that was during the angle Cena had with the Nexus a few years back. For now Cena is just a face that gets more mixed reactions than favorable reactions.

  • Jashaun

Would it really matter if cena turned heel? Because overall he is cena. Just look at cm punk he is heel but he still gets chants and he still sells a lot of tshirts.

    • James

Because CM Punk is facing John Cena. People will always go for the person opposite of John Cena. It’s been like that or a while now.

  • dektcmpunx

I would argue that it is broke……I mean for your top babyface to be booed by half of the audience or more on a nightly basis and then have trouble even getting your gimmick hometown behind you….I’d say its a bit broke

    • Gary

Agreed. Just look at the reaction to CM Punk in Chicago and then how Boston reacted to its own Cena…it paled in comparison and he actually still drew boos there from his home crowd.

  • aeaton45

I would argue that i understand that if Cena did turn heel it might make for more entertain programming, but on the flip side look at this.. IF Cena turns heel then the IWC is now happy but still boo him and women and children boo. So the IWC buys the merchandise and not the women and children. So their is no difference in him being heel or not because the IWC is going to boo him anyway either because they are either bored or he is heel. And then if he does turn heel, knowing the comments that i read on this website he will be scrutinize just like Punk is being. So in my opinion there really is no point for him to turn heel because you already have the choice to boo or cheer him. And the WWE universe takes full advantage of that.

When the WWE starts to dub in sound over the Cena sucks chants then is their an argument about having the right to voice our opinion at shows.

  • Razmos01

People would like him more as a heel

  • Bishop

My question is who would become the top baby face in the company? Is there anybody on the roster who can be elevated to the level of that position to feud with Cena? Cena would pretty much be unstoppable as a heel as well.

  • wrestlingbuff

So if Cena were to turn heel… what would be a STRONG babyface to oppose him?? When Hogan turned heel there were so many strong babyfaces to oppose him and validate his heel turn. However, what good would it do to turn him heel? I mean even with the character switches… why would anybody ever want to see Cena vs Orton again?? Cena vs. Big Show??? If he were to turn heel… it would fall flat and fall fast.

  • Jashaun

The only other guy up there with cena and could feud against him would be Orton… But how many times have we seen them feud.. To many to count. That’s why I don’t see cena turning heel anytime soon.

  • Bigdaddychuck

Cena and punk have faced each other more than Cena and Orton. Cena could face ryback Sheamus punk Orton and even DZ?

  • Btb

Cena is a large guy who makes fun of people, and insults them, never loses clean and breaks rules when it is in his favor. Isn’t he already a heel?

In some ways WWE has this whole heel/face thing backwards. Most of the heels have more compelling back stories than the faces do.

  • Nikki

I would be outraged to see Cena become a heel I absolutely hated him as part of the Nexus so leave Johns character alone!!!!

Look, Cena sucks either way. At least his promos were entertaining when he was heel. They could do a double turn. Punk and Cena. Punks not fully turned anyway. He still pulls face reactions. Just him be a face who demands respect. Or a rebelious tweener, reminiscent of Austin back in the day.

Wrestlers are millionaires, why wud they want better pay?

Im from the UK, so can someone tell me what does iron clad mean?

    • John

How many wrestlers are millionaires exactly?

You think someone like CM Punk is a millionaire? Because i don't!
