Favorite Non-nWo Moments In WCW, Scott Steiner’s Status, Alberto Del Rio’s Cars, WWE Showcasing TNA Talent

Besides the nWo, what was your favorite moments in WCW?

In addition to the original new World order storyline, my favorite moments in WCW were the superior wrestling matches. One thing that I think Eric Bischoff deserves some credit for is bringing in international cruiserweight stars and highlighting them on mainstream shows. Workers such as Ultimo Dragon, Psicosis, La Parka, not to mention the names that became big stars once in WWE such as Rey Mysterio, Eddie Guerrero, etc. There was a lot to like on WCW shows and it’s a shame the company was ran into the ground.

Are Scott Steiner’s Tweets a work or a shoot?

From everything I’ve seen and heard, Scott Steiner’s most-recent Tweets on Hulk Hogan, Eric Bischoff, Bruce Prichard and company are legitimate. He is finished with TNA and I’m not sure how his deal to work Ring Ka King is structured. All of Steiner’s appearances on the international show up until this point have been pre-taped. As I’ve discussed before, Steiner can come off as cocky and arrogant but a lot of what he is saying regarding the dysfunctional TNA structure is true.

Where does WWE get the cars Alberto Del Rio cruises in with each show?

WWE rents the vehicles from high-end car rental dealerships. The only role Alberto Del Rio has with the cars is to come out in them.

On this week’s Raw Supershow WWE they showed old matches of Brock Lesnar and each match he was facing opponents who are now in TNA. Why would WWE feature TNA stars?

Vince McMahon has made it pretty clear he doesn’t see TNA as a threat to his business. There really isn’t a bigger example than the use of Ric Flair at the WWE Hall of Fame Ceremony this year and the night after at Wrestlemania XXVIII.

There can’t be that many wwe stars still around that lesnar has faced? He faced cena before and markhenry and big show, he beat a very young randy orton. Angle and rvd are now in tna and rock, undertaker aren’t around much. The likes of cm punk, shemus and Bryan and have all come up since he’s been gone.

    • Adam

He's never been in an Angle with Triple H AFAIK.

      • Eddie

hey Adam, did u miss the triple threat match? rock vs lesnar vs hhh……

        • Paul

There was that one Match with the rock, lesnar and triple h but there has never been a rivalry and one on one match between hhh and lesnar, would have been epic though.

    • Joe

He had a mini feud on smackdown with edge for the wwe title in like late October early November, edges 1st big push that was stalled because he broke his neck

  • Ivan

I know Del Rio's character is rich but does he really have to come out in a car everytime. It's like he wants to copy Eddie Guerrero.

    • mr shwo

      later mark

      • XKonn247

Hard to call the guy a mark when he’s right. He’s literally ripping off the JBL and Eddie gimmick. So, when calling a guy a mark ensure you aren’t being ignorant.

  • http://o Thumpa

Thanks for mentioning La Parka, that guy stood out in the cruiserweight scene in WCW, let’s not forget Jericho too!

    • The M

Yeah! Let's wipe mexico off the map, just so he can debut in WWE!

…Not Really, Though. Take A Joke, Folks!

  • Daniel Limass

Why didn't WWE show the footage of Lesnar won the WWE Championship from The Rock at SummerSlam 2002? That's really memorable.

    • Paul

They did show him f-5ing the rock didn’t they?

    • XKonn247

      They did. A lot.

      • Paul

        Thought so

  • Latrell

I agree with Ivan, they are trying to make Del Rio too much like Eddie. It’s so obvious, he even did an Eddie move with the chair against Sheamus.

    • Hardy

I think some of the copying by del rio is more of a mark of respect. To show people that Eddie isn’t forgotten, it’s not like del rio is completely copying Eddie.

      • Adam

Now all we need are the 3 Amigos, Playing Possum and the Frog Splash and the tribute will be complete.

The WWE need to strip him of dead weight and give him another push.

    • Joe

Just because he’s Mexican and cheats doesn’t make him a carbon copy of Guerrero

  • stoney

    My favourite non NWO moments:
    1. Goldberg
    2. Chris Jericho literally reading out a list of 1004 holds, he was proof that little guys could be great heels
    3. Benoit Vs Booker 7 match series
    4. Owen Hart tribute match
    5. Booker T winning the WCW championship
    6. Ric Flair Vs Vader at Starrcade 1993

    • Alex

Great memories. I choose to remember that WCW rather then the mess that was WCW 2000 onward.

  • Steve l

Thatsva good list Stony other than Goldberg I agree withvyou.

  • Mitch

I would like to see Hunico in an Eddie Guerrero type of character.

One of my favorite WCW moments was frome before the NWA became WCW I think and was the 60 minute iron man match between Flair and Sting on the first ever Clash of Champions. Those “Clash of Champions” shows were basically PPV’s that aired for free on TBS. YOU WILL Never See that from WWE. I also used to love the WCW Saturday Night show that used to air on TBS every Saturday night. There was just so much I loved about NWA / WCW for me to list here. It was a dark day for me when I turned on Nitro only to see Vince Mcmahon standing there in front of a WWE Raw backdrop with a shady grin on his face. I was way more into WCW than I ever was WWF/E. Even when Hogan was WWF and was literally the biggest thing in the world at the time. WWF was just so corny and unreal while WCW had story lines and characters that were more real.

I dont believe the old tapings of lesnar has anything to do with TNA. It is just a coincidence.
First, his match with hardy was one of his first matches in WWE (maybe even his debut?) – showing his influence on the WWe, since the beginning.
The Second with Hogan, was used to compare his status with The Rocks match with hogan – hence showing he is a top guy on a level with the rock, hogan and cena
The third against angle is one of his biggest matches (and one of the greatest in history, some might say) at wrestlemania, where he won the WWE title for the first time
