Favorite Weapons In Pro Wrestling, WWE Changing PPV Schedule, The Rock Working After Wrestlemania?, Beth Phoenix Update

What are some of your favorite or most effective weapons used by talent? For instance Al Snow’s head, the Mounties’ cattle prod, Bossman’s night stick, Undertaker’s urn, weapons talent brought to the ring on a regular basis.

Some of the weapons you mentioned are some great choices. While not a comprehensive list, some other favorites of mine include the tables of Public Enemy, The Great Muta’s mist, Triple H’s sledgehammer and Finlay’s shillelagh. My favorite universal weapon in pro wrestling is the kendo stick. It makes a great noise, it’s versatile and it doesn’t put a worker’s health in jeopardy like a steel chair. I oppose any unprotected shot to a worker’s head with a weapon due to what is now known about concussions.

What is the logic behind WWE constantly tweaking their pay-per-view schedule and model?

WWE alters the pay-per-view schedule to maximize interest and buyrates. There is nothing more to it than WWE wanting to run the shows that will draw the most buys from their audience. When WWE overhauled the B-level shows, they surveyed fans online to find out the most popular gimmicks in which they could develop shows around. While not everyone agrees with their decisions, they make these decisions on research and fan input.

Do you see The Rock returning for another match after Wrestlemania XXVIII?

Anything is possible but I think there is a very real possibility that Wrestlemania XXVIII is The Rock’s last match. The Rock had no plans to return to the ring when he agreed to “guest host” last year’s Wrestlemania; however, once he got back around the business his position began to change. Vince McMahon basically used Rock’s love for the business against him and made this year’s match official by announcing it on television one year in advance. While getting around the business once again might make Rock open to another match, I don’t see him abandoning his successful acting career to return to pro wrestling. He’s getting paid more for a much less hectic travel schedule.

Where is Beth Phoenix? Why hasn’t she been on TV the past few weeks?

It was believed that Beth Phoenix was being held off television after the facial injury she suffered when Alicia Fox stiffed her. She wasn’t seriously injured because she has continued to work WWE live events. However, Beth has been held off television even after the facial injury has healed. As far as I know her lack of appearances on television have to do with time constraints and other angles taking priority.

  • Dave Barton

To me, the steel chair is the classic weapon, although I now agree on head protection.

As far as favorite weapon brought to the ring regularly, i’d go with Chavo’s horse Pepe.

    • Eiji

      How bout Saturns mop?

  • Ricky

The best weapon gimmick was The Mounties cattle prod. Simply becuase during that time frame when the Mountie shocked someone WWF(E) TV inserted the cheesey electrical sound effect.

  • Jason

    Cornette’s raquet, Paul E’s phone, Missy Hyatt’s handbag, any Asian worker’s mist, Bob Orton’s cast… geez, I sound old… Chris Hero’s elbowpad

  • George

It's more of a target than a weapon, but I vote for the Spanish Announce Table. When you see that out you just know someone is going to be put through it.

  • Funk Under Fire

How can you say sledgehammer? A weapon that if used in real life can kill someone!?! At least the others are believable. What’s next a sword?

    • Dave Barton

Actually, Gama Singh used to bring a scimitar to the ring with him…and use it. But it looked dopey as hell, because the only time he made contact was with the pommel end.

    • just a fan

actually hhh uses the sledge very well, and the one time he did use a prop hammer he did hurt the person he was fighting… just sayin

  • Noob

  • JXW

come on dude Moppy was awesome lol

  • Jackwagon

Come on man … Jimmy Harts megaphone.

  • kbunyon

Personally I have to agree with Jason and go with Cowboy Bob Orton's cast. That man ran around with a fake cast on his arm for years! To me that's dedication to a weapon.

I also have to agree with Richard on the kendo stick. It makes a fantastic sound as well as not being dangerous.

Yes, a sledge can be dangerous in the wrong hands, but Trip uses it very carefully, and I think that's why it works so wonderfully.

  • Maze

Um, Im sorry but I can post pictures of my back and bloody forehead from getting cut open hard way from a Kendo stick so that weapon can cause bodily harm.

  • Da KiDD

How about Tajiri's green mist (not really a weapon, but a defense mechanism), Cactus Jack's Barbed Wired 2×4, and Owen Hart's Slammy's (lol, he did use it as a weapon)

  • Nick

Is everyone forgetting D-Lo Brown's Chest protecting vest?

  • Brandon

What about the classic barbwire baseball bat.

  • John

Jake the Snake's snake is one of my favorites. I also thought Rick Martel's arrogance spray was funny. Jim Cornett's tennis racket.

@George … SO TRUE!!! That's the first thing I ask myself is who and when are they going through that table!!

  • Brian

This isn't a weapon, but what about when Jake Roberts brought a real life snake to the ring. I loved that! Loved Santino mentioning it on Smackdown.

  • MartynW

When Triple H brings out the sledgehammer people know what's going to happen, it gets a reaction.
Favourite Weapons or me are Sledgehammer, Chair, Tables, Kendo Stick (makes a great noise)

  • http://wwe Maz

The best weapon has to be the sword by berzerker, I was scared for the other wrestlers as a kid.

Also why don’t Beth Phoenix borrow Cody mask

  • fan

Sledge? Really? In that case, I'll go with Sting's baseball bat. What a joke.

    Jimmy Hart's megaphone!!!!

  • HPK

Bubba / Bully Rays Chain necklace or belt , Lethal Weapon Steve Blackman's Arnis Sticks , Briefcases , Ladders , Tables (on Fire) and Janus !!!

  • HPK

Chairs and Brass Knuckles are always a fav !!!

  • steve2

    Hacksaw’s 2×4

  • Beeker

Iron Mike Sharpes' black fore arm pad. Now that old school!!!

  • Scooter

HOW CAN YOU ALL SIT THERE AND NOT MENTION ABYSS AND JANICE????? It boggles my mind!!!

    • kbunyon

Scooter, you are right. I cannot believe I didn't come up with Barbie and Janice from the start. I'm a huge Foley fan and love Abyss, so I feel like a complete dolt missing those.

Best weapon? Truth's water bottle!!! He bloodied Miz with a plastic water bottle!!!

  • PikaPal4ever

i love how people are asking if the rock will wrestle after wrestlemania. My comment on this, WHO CARES!
The rock is nothing but a sellout who basically took money over the wwe and spit in everyone's face to go to hollywood to do movies (most of them that are bad btw), now he expects everyone to forgive him and cheer him?
HA, I don't like John Cena, but at least he has passion for the business and i hope he sends the rock into permanent retirement when wrestlemania is over.

    • Eiji

Man would I love to see New Jack wrestle Cena at Wrestlmania, I mean smash on Cena at Wrestlemania and bring all his toys(Weapons for you that don't know.HaHa Now that would be a "Wrestlemania Moment"!!! New Jack = Super Cena's Cryptonite

  • Roger

I'm going way back. and forgive the spelling, but how about the wooden shoe of Tojo Yamamoto, or the cane of Saul Winedroff, manager of the German Von Brauners, Kurt and Karl. There was also another tag team manager that used an umbrella, the Interns maybe? He may br the one who tossed a rag drenched in ether to knockout opponents, also. Last, but not least, Jerry Lawlers.fire in the face, now those were the good old days

    • Eiji

You mean THE ORIGINAL SHEIK'S fire in the face.

  • Jeremyg

Papa shango’s voodoo, bastion booger’s stench, scott steiner’s lead pipe, raven using te stop sign(think the ddp feud), ric flair using brass knuckles, rikishi using a car on stonecold, james storms beerr bottle, etc

    • Eiji

      I think Rikishi's @$s was a weapon.

  • Tim

no one wants to see wants to see a hour charisma match headline wm both cena and rock are not known for being a good wrestler cm punk vs dolph should be headlining wm and for how popular the rock is he wasnt so hot that wwe wouldnt turn him heel like cena and why is the rock having a new dvd coming out so they can put a bunch of satelite recorded promos that were probably between takes of another stupid movie i agree with punk the fact that the rock is headlining wrestlemania makes me sick

    • Razmos01

The Rock is one of the greatest wrestlers to step foot in the ring, unlike super cena who has about 5 moves, cena has been a heel, and the reason they are scared of turning him back heel is because of the PG ERA and he is such a fruit loop he just couldnt win any1 over as a heel, The Rock did satalite promos because of other work commitments, he took time out of filming G.I Joe to wrestle, so he hasnt lost any passion towards the business, the guy is just doing something else he loves, whats he got to prove in wrestling? Look at all the other wrestlers on a part time schedule, tripke h, the undertaker, stone cold (movie star) is any1 slating him? Just get over yaselfs, there is life outside of wrestling you know!!!

      • Tim

taker and hhh dont claim to never leave then not show up for months either plus stone cold has a acting career with much better movies and always makes real appearances the rapping cena didnt get over but thats not the only heel story available the rock was amazing on the mic but wrestling how could anyone say hes one of the best some of the best are people like hbk punk sting angle some people think cause wrestlers are over as can be that they are the best so does everyone break that when it comes to cena cena has made how many movies and promo appearances with out ever missing a day of work

        • Razmos01

Thats your own personal opinion on the rocks movies being crap, I dont think he cares with the money he is earning, if a role came up i think the rock would be wanted more than austin and cena, yea cena does promo work and all that, do the fans appreciate him? Only the teeny bopping pg fans, and im sorry but the rock is one The greatest wrestlers in the business, why do u think he was so popular? He was good in the ring, good on the mic and did all the promos and apperences when he was full time, now he has other projects, dont beat up on the guy because he changed career, and just to back up my “one of the greatest quotes” he stole the show at suvivor series, END OF

    • Eiji

Yes Punk, but Ziggler is garbage.

  • zeroswitch

Greg Valentines shin brace… As if a figure 4wasnt bad enough.

  • JJ

What about honky tonk man and double J using the guitar.

  • Addy

We're missing Tajiri's mist guys and gals

  • Smileyyy128

Triple H doesss useee it carefully…but it the feud withhh HBK..he lunqeddd and swunq that sledqehammer into Shawn’s back so harddd..it was epic..!!

  • Chris

Lex Lugers metal plate in his elbow and Socko!!!

  • Steve Blacksmith

My personal favorite is also the Kendo Stick/Singapore Cane. The reason, same with Richard. Second-best ones are HHH's Sledgehammer, Regal's Brass Knuckles, Sabu and Dudley's Tables, Asian/Mexican wrestlers/luchadors' Mist, Sting's Black Baseball Bat, metal sheets, steel steps, and ladders. Although barbaric, I also like Foley's Barbed Wire Arsenal, fireballs, steel chairs, glassware and sharp edges.

  • PhilT81

And nobody mentions the steel plate in Lex Luger’s arm? lol

  • Eiji

Sabu's chair, table, and spike from his boot, New jack's staple, fork (also used by Abby) and everything else New jack brings to the ring. Muta and Tajiri's mist, Cactus Jacks barbedwire 2×4 and thumbtacks and barbedwire boards.

  • wyn

can't believe no-one has mentioned my all time fave Socko

    • Chris

      Look up a couple comments!!

I know it wasn’t a weapon as such but Terri Runnel’s cigar was just awesome and made a sexy woman even sexier and she certainly caused more than a distraction or two but the greatest weapon of all time were the PUPPIES of Debra :-D.
Barbie was a classic and I became a huge D-Lo fan due to his chest guard but I’m shocked nobody mentioned Cena and his chain (really hated his heel character) or Gangrel’s blood or Crash Holly’s scales (loved the super heavyweights)
