Goldberg Not Part Of WWE, New PPV Concept, Returning From Suspension, New Talent

With WWE releasing a new Goldberg DVD this fall, what are the chances he’ll return to the company to promote it?

Bill Goldberg is not part of the project as he’s on record as to saying that it is not a collaborative effort. I don’t know how else to put this other than Goldberg doesn’t get along with Vince McMahon and Triple H. We never like to say never in this business but I think Bill’s days in the rings are over. The fact that fans still remember him and chant his name goes to show his impact on the business.

Have you heard anything about WWE Battleground other than the name change?

I heard there was a possibility of a war games type concept like what WCW used to do with multiple rings but the seating chart does not reflect that. Will it be a gimmick pay-per-view or is the name change like what they did with WWE Payback? I haven’t heard for sure but am assuming the latter until I hear otherwise. Tickets are on sale now as the show takes place on Sunday, October 6, 2013 in Buffalo, New York.

Will Ricardo Rodriguez return with Alberto Del Rio now that his suspension is up?

Ricardo Rodriguez’s WWE suspension is up and he is eligible to return to the company. As far as I know he’ll rejoin Alberto Del Rio as I haven’t heard anything different. For those that need a recap, Rodriguez was suspended on Thursday, July 2, 2013 for his first violation of the WWE Wellness Policy. You can view our list of WWE Suspensions at this link. As for what caused Rodriguez’s suspension, I’m told it was an over-the-counter fat-burning agent similar to hydroxycut.

A main reason for WCW’s downfall in the latest 1990s was the lack of new stars. WWE hasn’t built any major stars since John Cena. Shouldn’t Vince McMahon wake up before it’s too late?

I categorically reject everything stated in this question. First off, WCW went out because they spent money like a drunken sailor because they thought Ted Turner was always going to fund it. Even then, what finalized their demise was losing their television deal. As for WWE not building new stars, aside from the other top names working alongside Cena, take a look at the talent that made their Wrestlemania debuts this year. How about Daniel Bryan in the SummerSlam main event? Have you heard of a guy named CM Punk? The Shield? The Wyatt Family? Curtis Axel? Come on now, if there is one thing that WWE does right it’s developing talent and taking them to the next level. Check out the WWE Performance Center and its capabilities combined with the fact it’s loaded with call-up ready talent.

Wait, Curtis Axel is a star? I missed that episode of Raw.

    • James

Curtis Axel would only be wrestling house shows and jobbing if he didn’t have Paul Heyman at his side as a mouthpiece. Definitely not a “Star”. Kinda boring if you ask me.

    • outkazt09

I think Curtis needs to shave his head. Those bangs do not do him justice. He would look a little bit more intimidating if he did.

    • http://www.wrestlingnewsworld.com/ Richard Gray

I didn’t say Curtis Axel was a star.

      • Mathew Lisett

how ever it was the question. “WWE hasn’t built any major stars since John Cena”

and you were the one that came up with a bunch of names to reply to this question, such as curtis axel . so basically you inadvertently were stating him as a star

        • Robert Olley

Lol love it when richard gets caught out and doesnt reply

          • Mathew Lisett

jesus give him a chance, i only answered 37 minutes ago.

          • http://www.wrestlingnewsworld.com/ Richard Gray

Not used to hate from you.

        • BMGabe

haha I didn’t know the Wyatt’s were stars already. Man with top name talent like that being stars the next wrestling boom will happen any day now

        • http://www.wrestlingnewsworld.com/ Kendra Bunyon

Richard said to look at the talent that debuted at WM, he never said they were stars.

          • Mathew Lisett

actually again and i quote “As for WWE not building new stars” he then goes into stating the names. so again inadvertently stating they coming up new stars

          • James

            Curtis Axel wasn’t at Mania

          • Robert Olley

Like it or not curtis is good in the ring not as good as his dad but better than i would say 40% of the roster put that with heymans mic skills and by next year hell be in the main events

        • http://www.wrestlingnewsworld.com/ Richard Gray

The point is WWE is in the process of creating new stars

          • Mathew Lisett

something we as fans tend to forget is that it took nearl; 10 years for the “major” vets to even get where they were, such as the rock, stone cold. and in this era cena has been at the top for the last 7 years but actually been active for a decade already. many of us just dont see what we were used to and thats the caliber we were so used to back in the attitude era. heck just look at what happens when the rock turns up once every year of recent, the ratings go up etc and the crowd gets more excited than the whole of the locker room had been for a few years. which in reality is quite sad understanding the fact although wwe has “big stars” in cena,cm punk, we are now in that period where we need fresher stars to start coming through before its too late. and see the rock having to come back and “revive” the lagging show is just a showing view that things just are not right at the moment. its almost as if vince has had his view covered in mist whilst cena has been raking in the money for him and its only in the last 3 years that hes realised he needs new blood to rise through the ranks

      • Nostaljack

Of course, you did. The rest of your names made total sense but you blew it with Axel. He’s still being built so he isn’t there yet.

        • http://www.wrestlingnewsworld.com/ Richard Gray

No. I like Axel, however, to call him a “star” or a draw is overstating it. As I’ve explained in the Premium Mailbag, so far, Axel hasn’t worked.

          • Austin

            That’s an understatement lol.

          • Tim

Every promo he does. You can tell he is not comfortable with what he says.

  • darius

Richard,if they have soo many new major stars how come Extreme Rules 2013 built around the 3rd Lesnar-HHH match did more buys than survivor series that was main evented by cena punk and ryback?

  • Adam

Richard, you forgot to mention Ryback :)

    • Nostaljack

LOL! No, he absolutely didn’t forget

  • Jarel

I think what the reader was hinting at was a Nova Star…A Rock, Stone Cold, John Cena… I personally believe those are certain people who have something in them to seperate them from the pack of stars. Can’t say WWE solely developed them. It just recognized the potential and gave them the green light. The closest in today’s era after John Cena is CM PUNK. We may be in the midst of another Nova Star’s ascension in Daniel Bryan but thats yet to be determined.

    again, only my observation

    • http://www.wrestlingnewsworld.com/ Richard Gray

Yeah but that’s like saying where is the next Michael Jordan or LeBron James? It doesn’t matter how much training, seasoning, etc. There aren’t many people walking around like Rock or Austin

      • Tim

I have to reply ,even tho this is about wrestling and your just using an analogy. But lebron is just a towel boy compared to Kobe Bryant. After Jordan Kobe is the biggest star in basketball

    • Robert Olley

I honestly think bryan is the next big star its been a longtime since ive heard anyone get cheers as loud as him

  • Donnie Stuart

    John Morrison NEEDS to return.

    • outkazt09

Why? He is a spot monkey. I hope he does not come back. I do not miss his COOL SPOTZ.

    • Nostaljack

      No, he really doesn’t.

  • James

    Burger King or Arby’s today?

    • http://www.wrestlingnewsworld.com/ Richard Gray

I actually prefer Arby’s because they have healthier options.

  • David

Thanks Richard, finally someone who says the real reason WCW went out of business. I guess that’s why you run a legit wrestling website. You know the history.

  • Car

You people get so defensive. Lol
Richard is trying to answer a question and you have 12 trolls getting so anal about “STARS”.
Stop complaining. You’re going to watch Monday Night Raw tonight and the next week and the next week after that etc.

    • Austin

You and Richard need to learn the definition of a troll in internet terms. A troll isn’t someone who disagrees with you. A troll is someone who posts a deliberately provocative message to a comment section or message board with the intention of causing maximum disruption and argument.

      • Nick K

Richards a liberal, everyone who disagrees with him is a troll jk jk jk

  • Eddie Edwards

Its hard to get social with Richard when he won’t answer your tweets :-(

  • Jbreed

Out of all those guys mentioned CM Punk is the only one who could be considered a star. Nobody else today comes close to the level of star power John Cena has. Since 2001 the only megastars the WWE has created are Cena, Batista, Randy Orton, Edge and CM Punk. 5 in 12 years is not good.

    • Kev

Add Lesner to that list as well.

    • Tim

Punk could already be mega. But they just don’t push him as much as cena or the rock was then

  • Tony Rankin

I agree with that guy that says WWE hasn’t built any “major stars” in years. WWE has a lot great workers that are more than capable of working the main event, but none of them are “major stars”. But WWE can only do so much and it’s also up to the workers themselves to reach that status. I firmly believe that given the right booking, Daniel Bryan has the power to be the next “major star”.

  • Robert Olley

Imo seth rollins, dean ambrose, bray wyatt and antonio cesaro are the next batch of major stars especially cesaro hes awesome in the ring, good on the mic and hes got the international appeal

  • Stoney

WWE has made plenty of stars since 2005 other than those names that were mentioned Sheamus, Miz, Dolph Ziggler, Ryback and Del Rio. They’re stars but they’re not megastars.
Plus Cody Rhodes and Damien Sandow are both getting elevated

  • Kid

I’m sorry I know I’m 15 years late. But if Ted turner owned wcw and tbs and tnt the stations that showed wcw. How exactly did they lose their tv deal?
