Heat On Zack Ryder?, Commentary At WWE Over The Limit, Undertaker's Status, Sheffield's Return As Ryback

Shares 0

Is there any heat on Zack Ryder? It seems his run on television has been significantly scaled back.

Have you ever heard the popular excuse that "creative has nothing for you"? That's the situation Zack Ryder finds himself in, as do many of the mid-carders in the company. It's a situation where Ryder had an opportunity but struggled to gain grounding. This is nothing more than the life of a mid-card talent and I'm unaware of any particular backstage heat on him.

What did you think of the commentary at WWE Over the Limit?

I haven't commented on the commentary at WWE Over the Limit but I felt it was the best Michael Cole, Jerry Lawler and Booker T have worked together. They were fun and entertaining and not over-the-top and annoying. They had a very difficult job with John Cena vs. John Laurinaitis as the show's main event and passed with flying colors. Cole gets a lot of heat from the IWC but one thing that's always worth noting is he stepped in a position that was "no win" in trying to replace the best play-by-play man of all-time in Jim Ross.

Is there any update regarding The Undertaker?

The Undertaker is semi-retired and I haven't heard his name connected with anything that doesn't have to do with Wrestlemania. Given the fact that WWE wants to keep selling "the streak" and Undertaker only has a select number of matches left, I would be surprised if he's used before Wrestlemania XXIX next year.

Why did WWE bring back Skip Sheffield as Ryback?

Ryback was Skip Sheffield's old gimmick as he was a WWE developmental standout along with Sheamus as Sheamus O'Shaunessy and Ryback were a tag team prior to Sheamus being called up to the main roster. While The Nexus provided Sheffield a good opportunity, he was nothing more than an extra to people like Wade Barrett and Daniel Bryan. The revamp as Ryback gives him a chance to become a much "bigger deal" in WWE.

Thank you for answering my question about commentary, usually i could careless about commentary but at over the limit all 3 were in groove and did an amazing job while being genuinely funny, Cole said he asked for a raise and now he is getting it from the back that the answer is NO on raise lol

Zack Ryder should be on TV most weeks he is what people want to watch, he is a well known wrestler because of youtube, I believe united states and intercontinental championships should between these mid carders and watch if given the chance these guys on most nights will steal the show. Like in wcw with rey mestero and eddi,,,,

Ryback i don't know if they want him to be the next goldberg but every time wwe builds in this big monster they bring that character down pretty quick, so here is hoping they develop he character and do it right. give him a streak for 200 matches without a loss

  • BigMike

when he was in OVW he was "Silverback"Ryan Reeves

  • Ricky

It's sad Ryder has fallen by the wayside again. He's a talented kid and deserves some kind of push for his hard work.

  • AJG316

Well eir goes the chance of any undertaker return at episode 1000, oh well

    • Kevin

I wouldn't say that. The 1000th episode is a big deal, and will kick off the permanent(?) 3 hour expansion of Raw, so they might have UT make an appearance. He probably won't wrestle, as I believe that Richard has it right when he says that UT only has a few matches left in him and the WWE wants to keep the Wrestlemania streak alive. But I won't be one bit surprised if UT, and possibly even Austin, shows up on that night.

I’m definitely a lot happier with the commentary these days. Cole has stopped over-doing the heelishness to the extent he wasn’t calling the matches

  • Christ 4 Life

I'm glad they stopped the "commentary fued" when they did, because it was getting annoying.

But I do think that ever since Kane returned, Ryder went on a comlete downfall: Lost his title, his "girlfriend", and his WM moment.

feed me more!! i like Ryback he looks good in the ring and like to see him against anyone soon, but no rush i like him destroying the locals i could watch it every week, stop saying the next someone, let these guys be the next ryback not the next goldberg. punk vs bryan is different they are the next latino heat and the crippler

  • ricardovgv

I can't think of RAW celebrating 1000 episodes without the Deadman. The Undertaker = WWE.

  • Mike

Correct me if I'm wrong, if this even gets posted, but back in the Attitude Era, mid-carders always seemed to have storylines, and often just as compelling as the main events. Sometimes more so. It's a shame talent gets the short straw because of Creative's inability to do their job.

I agree with your comments about Cole Richard. In general Cole's always been pretty good at commentary; it was stint his little feud with Daniel Bryan followed by his over the top heel-ish commentary and his feud with Lawler that put a lot of people off. Cole has the character and charisma but IMO he's pretty underrated. I guess that's what tends to happen when you have to replace one of the greatest wrestling commentators of all time. People should remember that he was a pretty stellar commentator in his earlier days on Smackdown pre-Raw 2008 draft and still is.

  • Elliott Snyder

I disagree with you on 1 thing Richard although Jim Ross was very good on commentary, I think Gorilla Monsoon, Bobby Heenah, and Jesse the Body Ventura Era of commentary was better than Jim Ross

this is an "off topic" ask. or, thought for the day. l notice how quick the charges of "the fallen" are displayed for all to see, but the end results are never mentioned. l say this because l notice a wrastler who was accused of bad things with a hotel staffer, was "dropped" from TV for some few months, and is now back in the ring working hard again, no names, not my style, but l did say at the time of the "report" that "l don't like your char. but l wish you well with these accusations" now it seems as he was vindicated, but is still smeared in our memories of him because no follow-up was ever published to show that the alligations towards him were false. or is it because time has gone by that "the heat is off so he can "mid card" again?

  • The Breaker

Cole has definitely been scaled back, and consequently he's much more tolerable. Even with the high profile matches we've had recently, he's stepped his game up and has contributed to the overall entertainment of the event. Personally, I think we've been spoiled having JR all those years.

  • LeBron James

I personally find Cole very funny! I think he's been doing a great job as of late. Hope he keeps it up, he makes shows very entertaining with his sense of humor and the way he kisses up to the heels. Great stuff.
