The House Of “M”: Stop Slut-Shaming Paige!

Hello WNW people! Mitch “Big M” Adams here welcoming you to the now fortnightly feature on Wrestling News World called…THE HOUSE OF “M” This being my house, I get to talk about what I want to talk about and share my opinions on the art form known as Pro Wrestling. Although, I should point out that I’m only renting this house from WNW, so obviously the views I express here are solely mine alone! If you don’t agree with me, I’m more than willing to hear you out as you are as entitled to your opinion as much as I am entitled to mine. But, just remember you're a guest in my house, so try to keep things civil!

Well, WNW people, unless you have been living under a rock the last 72 hours you know that WWE Superstar Paige has had her phone hacked! And said hackers have since released multiple images and videos of Paige and others. The material that has been released so far has been explicit (the term “Title shot” is probably going to be a thing now). And now, it would seem that Paige is considered WWE’s biggest ring rat. And you know what? I think that is messed up!

For the last 72 hours, people have been judging her for filming herself and allowing herself to be filmed doing stuff adults do…performing sexual acts. So, guess what, I’ve got a newsflash for all you guys. You ready? Here it is…ALL adults (well most adults) have had sex! And some adults even record themselves for personal entertainment afterward. And guess what? There is absolutely nothing wrong with that! Consenting adults can amuse themselves however they see fit behind closed doors (within reason obviously). And granted, some of the people she has been filmed with are rumoured to be married, but that's on them not her. In those types of situations, I say the blame lies with the cheater, not the person they cheated with.

What we should be doing instead is judging the criminals (yes, they are criminals) who violated her privacy, and stole private material from her and posted it online without caring what effects it would have on not only her but the other people she filmed the material with. Such a crime should be treated as both serious and heinous. But no, instead, most everyone is jumping on the “She's a ho!” bandwagon. Believing that she brought all of this on herself and she will soon be “future endeared”.

Now, I don’t really identify as a “Feminist” if I am honest, but I don’t think you have to be to see the obvious sexism here! Think about it, Seth Rollins had a few dick pics leaked a while back and not only did no one raise eyebrows, he became WWE World Champion! So why the bloody hell should she be released from WWE for her leaks? Yes, her leaks are more explicit, and she probably should have deleted them after she’d had her fun with them. But that still doesn’t change the fact that people have this insane double standard. If we believe Rollins leaks shouldn’t affect his career because he is that talented, why don’t we feel the same way about Paige?

For two years now we have been in awe of what this new generation of women’s wrestlers have been doing in WWE, and Paige was not only there from day one…she was there before day one! A pioneer of the movement now known as the Women’s Revolution. She is one of the best in-ring talents (male or female) of her generation. Someone born to be in the pro-wrestling industry. So, does the knowledge that she’s, had sex with a few WWE superstars really change this? I mean, it’s not like she’s slept her way to the top! In fact, Paige’s current relationship with Alberto Del Rio has put her on WWE’s naughty list. So again I ask you, why are we judging her?

I’m sorry if this article has come off as a rant, but the fact that most of us are not condemning the crime of stealing and posting personal material of her’s online disgusts me. The fact that most of us are not showing our support for her as she must be living out her worst nightmare disgusts me. The fact that WWE could release her over this disgusts me. And most of all, the fact that so many of us in society STILL judge others (especially women) for having sex lives DISGUSTS ME!!!

So, on behalf of pro wrestling fans everywhere, I apologise to Paige, her family and her fiancé Alberto Del Rio for the horrible treatment she has received in the last 72 hours. And I hope that enough wrestling fans feel the same way I do and are showing you the love and support you deserve!

Obviously the fact the stuff was leaked at all is deplorable. However, I don’t know why people are that surprised at the other wrestlers being involved? I hadn’t really heard specific stories but I’d say with people basically living on the road… with all the adrenaline flying around… it kinda stands to reason that there’d be a lot of boning going on. Anyone ever read about what goes on at the Olympic village? It’s the same kinda deal.

    • Olympic Village came to mind for me as well. Young, healthy, sexual, in top physical shape, hormones flying everywhere, it makes sense.

  • Legen Dary

I have zero problem what Paige has done away from WWE during her own time. I do think everyone needs to be more careful with the things that are on their phones though. It’s no longer a safe place and can get you in major trouble.

    • “BIG M” Adams.

      Sad but True!

  • kingdook24

I was with you until I heard this morning about a photo circulating around that she performed a sexual act with the NXT Women’s Championship underneath her face.

    • BlazeKing

That was most likely her own replica and I don’t really care care what she does with it. WWE let Shawn Michaels take a naked pic with his junk behind the Winged Eagle belt. The titles became props after that. The new gen belts aren’t even as sacred as the older ones.

I bet Paige hasn’t been the only one to do sexual acts with her championship, either. There’s been some men as well.

  • Eddie

Seth and Paige are completely different cases. She used a WWE prop (and probably, technically WWE property) that’s featured prominently on WWE programming in a sexual manor. With everything that she’s been through with the company I highly doubt she returns.

    • Wonderkarp

I havent seen the Championship video or photo. Seen the others though.

I have no issue with the pics and videos. Grown adults. the Championship on the other hand, Asuka needs a new one.

      • Eddie

Oh I completely agree. She’s an adult and what happened is completely wrong. But the picture with the belt is probably going to cost her, her job

        • BlazeKing

It’s not. Does nobody remember the naked Hbk pictures with the Winged Eagle? WWE firing her over what she did would hold WWE liable. They’re not that stupid.

          • Eddie

So you’re comparing something that was WWE approved to something that is pretty much XXX?

          • BlazeKing

Yes, Eddie. That’s called “legal precedent”. WWE can’t risk another lawsuit from another talent; especially when the law is on the talent’s side in such a clear way.

If you only heard the stories about what some legends and attitude era champions have done with their belts… That’s why they get personalized keepsake titles to keep at home, now. They don’t have the TV belts 24/7 anymore.

          • Eddie

Ok Blaze. We’ve gone from “legal precedent” to you should hear the stories

      • BlazeKing

WWE has multiples of every championship belts as insurance. Asuka doesn’t have the same belt Paige had because the WWE logo was different (WWE Scratch vs WWE Modern).

  • Christen

Everyone is entitled to their opinion and everyone is entitled to their privacy. But in today’s world if you have nudes whether it’s photos or videos and you are in the public eye it will end up online. Paige wants to screw around and tape her fun that’s all her. But what is inexcusable is using the NXT Women’s champion whether it’s was a replica they give them after a title run or the real belt it was disrespectful. Especially knowing 4 other women have held that title since then it’s disgusting and uncalled for shows a total disrespect for the company. That is where I draw the line. She wants to screw Brad Maddox and Xavier Woods then fine go ahead girl. But leave WWE property out of it.

Also I find it funny that people are defending Paige for her being a ring rat. But they jumped all over women like Melina, Kelly, Mickie etc for rumors of them being one too. They jumped all over those women many still do years later. But yet they defend Paige? All I can say is if you have private stuff you don’t want out delete it.

    • BlazeKing

Let me tell you a secret: Paige isn’t the only WWE star to perform sex acts with their (most likely replica) belt. Fans hold championship to a higher degree than the athletes do.

Also, if people want to record private stuff, they have every right. Don’t be an ass and video-doxx people thru hacking. Zero excuse to blame the victim.

      • Christen

It’s a shame she got hacked but come on seriously its common sense for celebrities to try to protect those photos and videos they don’t want out. Why because there are foolish people out there who will put it out to the public. It’s not blaming the victim it’s to have common sense to protect that stuff. That is my opinion and I am entitled to it.

        • BlazeKing

Any “protection” can be circumvented. That’s the difference between a white hat (hackers that disclose the vulnerabilities without doing harm) and a black hat (hacker that don’t GAF about anyone but themselves).

YOU have the right to record anything you want and have it in a private space whether that’s in the cloud or on physical media in your house. Nobody has the right to take your privately stored material and publish it without you expressed consent, period.

          • Christen

You don’t get what I am saying do you? Maybe I will try it again. YES you have the right to record anything you want. NO it is not okay for anyone to invade your privacy. BUT when you are a celebrity in the public eye there is no such thing as privacy. If you are a celebrity and you have stuff you don’t want anyone seeing you need to delete them or secure them somehow because they will end up online by some hacker who wants to expose celebrities. Nobody has the right to take them but they do. Celebrities in this day and age have to be careful what they keep in their accounts because stuff like what was leaked of Paige is gold mine to those hackers. Do you get it now? Not blaming the victim it’s just how sick people are. You don’t like what I said well sorry not sorry it’s my opinion. Get it got it good!

    • Buzzkiller73

The great one Ric Flair was famous for letting women wear the title while performing sexual acts. Once again double standard. And who really cares if a title was used anyway. The “prop” used was a replica and Paiges’ property not that of the WWE. Maybe we should all just mind our own business.

  • Wonderkarp

You know, if you are going to film this kind of behavior, Maybe increase your phone security.

    • Simon Veitch

The problem is that no amount of her own personal security protects her when cloud servers get attacked and stuff she probably doesn’t even realise is backed up, gets leaked. It’s not on Paige to have to try super hard to conceal stuff when people shouldn’t be hacking into it in the first place

      • “BIG M” Adams.

        Exactly!

  • BlazeKing

For the record: I give Paige props. Why? If I’m going to give a dude props for sleeping with two girls at the same time, it’s only fair to give props when it’s a female doing the same. No double standards here. Everybody is a slut until they settle down and get married. Doesn’t matter if you’re male or female. People just need to grow up about other people’s private lives, honestly.

  • HLG

It would be helpful if sites like this could bring themselves to name the two men involved in these videos too? All the focus is on Paige and obviously nothing at all towards the two men.

  • ldb

society suddenly reverts back to the 1950s when it wants to. i dont nk anyless of Paige. good arti le Big M. i find it odd trolls behind internet anonymity suddenly have “morals” and decide to shame someone else. i use this social media for this blog and local news. i hate social media overall because it gives o much power to stupid people.

  • neverready

The fact that they had a camera on a tripod filming and then Brad is filming with a separate camera kind of throws her privacy issue right out the window.

  • Allyssa

Thank you so much for this! Your points were spot on. And while you may say you’re not a feminist (which is fine, you choose your own labels), your opinions on women’s wrestling and this issue with Paige are VERY feminist. And that’s okay! Call a spade a spade, and thats what you did.

    • “BIG M” Adams.

      You’re welcome!
And if I had to label myself I’d pick Egalitarian just FYI!

  • Buzzkiller73

Very well written and well said. Most people are so judgmental. Yet they forget the old schoolyard adage, point at me u have 4 pointing back at you.

  • Buzzkiller73

WWE titles are not taken outside of the performing arena. Titles are carried in a case like a tool box on wheels and removed for TV spot or photo shoots. The titles carried outside arenas and elsewhere are replica titles like you can buy at wwe shop and are the property of the person who has “won” them. The title Paige used as a prop was her property so let’s drop the disgracing of a title argument.
