ROH Wrestling has stripped Jay Briscoe of the ROH Championship. There will be a tournament to crown a new champion beginning on July 27th in Providence, continuing on August 3rd in Toronto, August 27th in New York City and concluding at Death Before Dishonor XI weekend in Philadelphia on September 20th and 21st.

Michael Elgin, the number one contender for the belt, is the first man entered into the tournament. ROH will announce more participants on their official website.

You can watch Nigel McGuinness explaining what I just wrote at this link. You can also watch in the video embedded below:

The storyline is Jay Briscoe is “too injured to perform,” while in reality his contract is up with the company. His brother, Mark Briscoe, is also finished with Ring of Honor for the foreseeable future.

Briscoes going to the WWE or TNA soon most likely the WWE. Since the WWE seems to be using ROH AS a developmental territory

WOOOO!!!!!!! You mean ROH going without a champion till September the 20th. This will put ROH IN A SLOW GRAVE.

Why would ROH even put the belt on a guy who’s contract was coming to an end? Doesn’t make much sense to me. Yeah it was cool that Briscoe won the title, but why take it off of a guy like Steen, who is under contract for awhile, and put it on somebody who’s deal was ending mid title run? Makes no sense, and is kind of Busch League IMO.

      They’re going anti-Vince.
