Jeff Hardy Encourages People Never To Start Drinking Or Doing Drugs; Says Matt Is Doing Well

Jim Varsallone of The Miami Herald has a new article online featuring quotes from Jeff Hardy. Below is an excerpt:

“I really believe that people learn from examples and through problems themselves,” Hardy said. “OK, my brother [Matt] and myself, for example, we never drank. We never did drugs. Nothing. I was 21, 22, when I started drinking beer, in wrestling, and then it escalated.

“It’s easy to do. It’s easy to get addicted, but if you never start, you’ll never have to stop. That’s the best advice I can give anybody. I’m back to a place now where I was before, where I don’t need a pill to go paint a canvas. That’s my new fix is doing it again. It took a while to get there, but I’m here, and I’m a father now as well. That’s another huge inspiration in my life.”

“Through everything that has happened recently, to see Matt now, I think he’s doing really well,” Jeff said. “Even with my daughter now, I kind of know how my dad feels.”

Jeff has finally grown up im proud of him

    • Let's hope it sticks that way.

    • Jeff was my favorite until he did drugs and got fired and I have no clue why Matt hardy left for TNA. I do hope that Jeff returns to the wwe I don’t really care about Matt as much ad Jeff.

  • @RatedMKD

Glad to hear this coming from him. Really hope he stays on the straight and narrow.

“…if you never start, you’ll never have to stop.”

This has always been my attitude. I’ve always been drug-free & tobacco-free, and I never touched alcohol until my late 20’s. Even then, I never drink to the point of drunkenness, I have one of whatever I want, and I’m done.

    • Lin

Same goes for me, never smoked, never done drugs, I do drink on occasion but I never drink till I'm completely wasted. Have maybe 3-4 drinks…

I'm really happy to hear him talk like that, and hope he's able to stick with it and stay clean. Overcoming addiction really is a daily struggle, but it's not impossible. Good luck to both Jeff and Matt.

Jeff Hardy to reform the Straight Edge society.

    • outkazt09

Then matt hardy comes in to be part of the group and corrupts everyone in it.

  • Matt Brown

This made my day to read this. I really hope Jeff and Matt can stay clean. I admired them so much growing up, and seeing their demise really hurt me. I am happy that they are staying clean and healthy.

  • EvilKevyn

Matt who? Oh right. Well we've heard Matt say he's turned himself around about a hundred times and it continually got worse. If Jeff's a father now, I damn well hope he's not just talking like his idiot brother does.

  • nykki

I am so very proud of my boyz Jeff n Matt, they both have been threw a lot and battled thier demons but they both have come threw better n stronger men…keep it guys love ya both…xo!<3

  • Jim

I’m really happy for Jeff as what he’s gone through with his pain killer addiction is no picnic. I’ve lost a few friends to those things. So its good he finally came to his senses when he did. Because once they’ve killed you, there’s no coming back.

You know if Jeff is admitting this now then he would have earnt my respect. Jeff never admitted he had a problem. This is the first time i have seen an interview where he admitted to his problem. Jeff has it all to become a star & is a star. But he know had his crash & burn moment. If he has solved his problems good on him. I ,ay become a fan again

  • stoney

Hardy's earned my respect, then they lost it, and now they're getting it back

  • Bertie

Wwe return would be sweet!!! Massive fan!! Not of Matt though, he is a bit crap! Never understood why the put him over Jeff at mania!

  • just a fan

glad to hear all of this, i hope he stays this way cuz i personally would love to see him and matt back in wwe one day (sorry if anyone disagrees, but i just cant stand tna, would rather see jeff adn matt on the indy circut)

  • christianrocker90

When I hear stories like this, I can't understand how people can argue drugs are safe. Good to hear it from, Jeff. Best of luck to him and his brother.

  • Scott

I applaud Jeff's attempt to get clean and to stay that way but Im not gonna jump on his bang wagon just yet. Lets see a year from now if hes still this one. Then and only then I will sing his praises. As far as Matt Hardy goes, I hope I never see him inside another wrestling ring again! He just doesnt have it, never did have and never will have the IT factor! He'll always be the Marty Janetty of the Hardys.

  • Alex

While I don't like Jeff or how TNA has been pretty much rewarding him for Victory Road I will admit I'm proud of him for saying this.

  • Karl

Meth Hardy is slowly turning back to Jeff Hardy.

  • Tommy

cm punk was right all along…(see youtube video of punk impersonating hardy after his departure match)

    • Alex

Trust me, my friend. I don't think anyone is ever going to deny that Punk was right this whole time. Punk's the man.

  • Howard Stern
