Jerry Lawler’s Girlfriend Says That Lawler Suffered A Heart Attack & Is In Stable Condition

Jerry Lawler‘s girlfriend, Lauryn Laine McBride, posted the following on her Facebook account regarding Lawler’s condition:

Thanks everyone for your thoughts and prayers. It has been confirmed that Jerry did have a heart attack…he is in stable condition and breathing on his own & heart is stable. I’m getting on the first flight out of here to be with him & will keep everyone posted. He is a strong man and we will get him back at his best as soon as I can get him home! I love you so so much baby!

Thanks to Wrestling News World reader Ashley Leichtman for sending this in.

Encouraging news to say the least! Get well Jerry!!! You can beat this!

Thankfully it sounds like hes going to be ok. Out of the heart attack/stroke possibilites, Id say Lawler is better off with the heart attack. And I do not say that lightly or downplay the severity of this. Ive had family members suffer from both and as long as you make it through the initial attack, the chances of long term paralisys or other disabilities are alot lower from a heart attack than a stroke. When first hearing about this I wondered what the chances of his physical role with CM Punk over the past few weeks were of contributing to this. If maybe he took a bump and got a blood clot or something like that. Im pretty sure weve seen the last in-ring action from Lawler, but at this point that is trivial in comparison to his overall well being.

Look I know I'm going to be hated for saying this but king and wwe should have known better than to let a 60 year old man perform in the ring and in hardcore and steal cage matches no less.
The last 2 or 3 years king has performed on an almost regular basses and I as a fan have been worried about kings health for a while now.
I'm no doctor but I really think men kings age should not be performing full stop the health risks are way to high.
Please get well soon jerry and think about retirement from in ring performing.

Ahe had nothing to do with it. You ever seen Fliar have a heart attack? Hogan? Don’t forget Savage, rest in peace, was only driving. It’s just a horrible moment.

Hey, Lawler is a very fit/active person and should not be put in any normal 60 year old category! He loves wrestling & I guarantee that when he recovers he would step in to the ring to take another bump no questions asked lol unfortunately heart attacks are random look at the pro football players – in the peak of physical condition – suffering heart attacks. WWE hold no blame over the heart attack and the quick response to the situation undoubtedly saved him…………. ALL HAIL TO THE KING – GET WELL SOON!!!!!!

You ppl do know he wrestles during the week also. He’ll beat this and go back to doing what he loves to do.

A lot of comments which I read (including other sites as well) regarding Jerry have for some reason said that people want The King to return to the ring and that he can still wrestle. Coming from a medical point of view (yes, I am a doctor), King should NOT wrestle. When you have a heart attack, part of your heart literally dies. This leads to excess load on the viable heart. Now when you add extreme activity like being in a ring, that does a lot. The heart can only take so much. That being said, he would be able to return to his commentary duties within a couple of months depending on the severity and location of his heart attack (before you attack me for this, there are 4 – 5 places within the heart the attack can occur and each has a separate prognosis). You may even see him riding a bicycle for 3 miles a day but thats different from in-ring duties.

Now from a WWE fan point, GET WELL SOON KING!!!

I could not agree more about the king not wrestling again – there really is only so much the heart can take & the less stress the better – was only pointing out that he would prob get in the ring tomorrow if he had the chance LoL the guy is a living legend & I feel sometimes he does not get enough credit for what he has done for the ‘sport’ especially for gaining HUGE fame for wrestling from his feud with Kaufman……. Before hogan was even heard of – I’m sure I read on WNW that even VKM was jealous of what he done ;)

Sorry if I sounded offensive, by no means was that my intention. I agree with you whole heartedly that he has done alot and if given the chance, he would definitely come back to the ring.

Michael Cole showed a tremendous amount of professionalism with how he handled the entire situation last night. They may have had differences in storyline, but you could see and feel the emotion pouring from him throughout his updates on Jerry's condition. Stepping aside from further commentary also showed a lot of respect for his partner. He may be a completely irritating on-screen character, but Michael Coulthard the man shone through in a very noticable way last night. He's unquestionably earned my respect.
