John Cena Becomes First Wrestler To Top Pro Wrestling Illustratred’s Annual “500″ List Three Times

Pro Wrestling Illustrated has announced that John Cena has been ranked No. 1 in the 2013 “PWI 500.”

The list, which is now in its twenty-third year, ranks the top five-hundred professional wrestlers in the world. During the evaluation period for the 2012 “PWI 500,” from June 1, 2012, to May 31, 2013, Cena triumphed over The Rock to claim the WWE Championship, won the annual Royal Rumble match, claimed the Money in the Bank briefcase and defeated CM Punk on two occasions.

With the honor, Cena is the first person to top the annual list on three occasions, surpassing two-time winners Bret “The Hitman” Hart, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, and Triple H.

The top 10 is as follows: John Cena, CM Punk, Hiroshi Tanahashi, Bully Ray, Kazuchika Okada, Sheamus, Jeff Hardy, Alberto Del Rio, Dolph Ziggler and Kevin Steen.

How is Sheamus in the Top 10? What did he do this past year?

    • sheamusfan

C’mon this guy has all the moves and sheamus puts up great matches nevertheless

      • jomo12

I like Sheamus but I’ve hardly seen anything from him to warrant a top 10 best wrestler. I don’t remember the last time he was in the title picture or in a meaningful feud. Just saying.

    Congratulations John Cena!

  • Tom Lee

If you really look in the match of cena, you will agreed that he is deserved it,
He can’t keep compete, he need to a break ..

    • monty

he not only needs a break he deserves a break, wwe actually wanted him to take the break a while back but he refused. Hopefully we won’t see him on TV for atleast 4 and here is hoping 6 plus months

and i hope he does some soul searching, his character is stale and he has the saying power to tell Vince its time for a change

also hoping while he is gone DB really grabs the spot light and run with it

CENA will be back on wwe as soon as possible because wwe needs him in order to keep the raw ratings at a decent level during football season.
CENA will never turn heel because the current john cena character makes wwe milions each year . cena is the face of wwe and the face of wwe pg.
vince McMahon would never mess with his money maker especially since he has zero competition in the stupid rassling world. tna is a joke and McMahon could kill tna if he wanted to do it. all McMahon has to do is put sd up against impact and drive down impact’s rating to the point that spike tv cancels it.

This kayfabed publication has now lost all legitimacy with me. Off the top of my head, workers more deserving of three awards are Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, CM Punk, Chris Jericho, Dean Malenko, Diamond Dallas Page, Eddy Guerrero, Chris Benoit, Booker T, Bill Goldberg, Ric Flair, Arn Anderson, and AJ Styles.

    • Matt

      Goldberg!?

    • Xavier

      Haters gonna hate

      • Matt

It’s hardly hating. Cena can’t wrestle. He’s a great entertainer but his wrestling skills are limited to so little. If this was best entertainer, fine. But wrestler? Not a chance.

I’ll write your reply for you; “oh look my number 1 groupie”. No one laughed. As ever.

Cena’s had a lot of great matches in the WWE for a man who can’t wrestle, just saying

  • -|AZ|-

Why on Earth is ADR in the top 10, that also ahead of Ziggy X-(

    • sheamusfan

Because he is a great technical wrestler if you see his 15min matches on ppvs

    • jomo12

Because he’s been world champ for most of this year.

LOL!! This has to be driving the IWC insane!! I’m no Cena fan, but I love it when stuff like this happens and the IWC goes into a complete meltdown for a few days. Cena carried the WWE title most of the year, plus all the charity work he does, and considering he worked pretty injured for quite a large part of the year in question if you are being realistic and honestly looking at the product he is deserving of this selection. I would’ve liked to have seen someone else win it also but, even without the WWE championship, Cena is the man right now unfortunately.
