Reader Feels Ripped Off

Wrestling News World reader Tim McCardle sent in the following live report from Wrestlemania Axxess:

I had a horrible experience at WrestleMania Access and definitely won’t be going again. My friend and I spent 1.5 hours waiting in line for a signature and picture with Wade Barrett. We then got some food and watched the show for a half hour. We went to go to the line for Prime The Players but they cut that line off.

We then went to Alberto Del Rio’s line but it was too long so we went to William Regal’s line at 3:30 PM. We went right in to wait. We waited until 5:00 and they then told us we had to go and we wouldn’t get to meet him. There were 8 rows of people who didn’t get to meet him. This was the only line for this to happen.

Everyone else got through their lines. The manager came over and told us to leave and I asked for a refund because I only got through one line and they said sorry, nothing we can do. It was such a rip off.

We’ve heard a lot about the event being disorganized and the staff being pushy and rude.

“We’ve heard a lot about the event being disorganized and the staff being pushy and rude.”

Yep. The staff there was the arena staff and not WWE’s own. There were a lot of rude staff members there. I ended up injuring my foot while in line to get into the building and couldn’t walk normally anymore. I asked who I assume is the supervisor to throw away my cup because I didn’t want to litter and he looked at me funny and said “No”. He then just walked off while everybody arond me in line said “Wow, that dude is a real douchebag”. I reported him for that and I called him a racist prick to his face because there was no need for him to deny me help like that. Never again will I go to the IZOD Center.

    • Kenneth

“Hi event staff person. Be a dear and throw away my trash for me. Ta chuck.”

What staff member in their right mind anywhere would say yes to that? They’re not there to throw your rubbish away for you. Hobbling or not you’d still pass a bin eventually. Jesus H. Christ man, talk about having an exaggerated sense of entitlement.

And then you insult him by calling him a racist prick and report him because he’s not disregarding his paid employment to be your personal trash bitch? And what’s racist about someone not throwing someone else’s rubbish away? Seriously, dude. Frankly in his place I’d have tried to have you escorted from the premises.

Apologies if you don’t like me saying this but it really sounds like you’re the real douchebag in this situation.

      • BlazeKing

“What staff member in their right mind anywhere would say yes to that? They’re not there to throw your rubbish away for you. Hobbling or not you’d still pass a bin eventually.”

Maybe you missed the part where I typed ” I ended up injuring my foot while in line to get into the building and couldn’t walk normally anymore.” Which meant that I needed medical attention. I could not walk.

“And then you insult him by calling him a racist prick and report him because he’s not disregarding his paid employment to be your personal trash bitch?”

I’ve worked arenas before in the management position and I did everything to make patrons happy. That’s what staff is there for. Maybe you didn’t now this but that’s the job. He did the same thing I asked for another patron but did not do it for me. While on the inside, another staff member gladly assisted me with anything I needed because I was basically disabled for a day. That guy was a douche to more than me as you can see other people had similar problems from the IZOD staff.

        • WyFo

You needed medical attention? You couldn’t walk to a trash bin but you were willing to walk around the arena even after you got hurt. And the whole time you NEEDED MEDICAL ATTENTION!? Sounds like laziness to me.

          • Blazeking

Who said i was able to walk when i got inside? Instead of trying to be a douchebag to me, you should actually read what i typed and how others got the same nasty treatment from izod staff.

        • Kenneth

TL;DR – OP’s whining is successfully challenged and he’s confirmed as a selfish douche.

Maybe you missed the part where I typed ” I ended up injuring my foot while in line to get into the building and couldn’t walk normally
anymore.” Which meant that I needed medical attention. I could not walk. —– You didn’t say that you couldn’t walk. You said that you couldn’t walk normally, i.e. implying that you could still walk but perhaps had a limp. I didn’t miss anything. You just weren’t clear in what you typed, leading to the confusion. The fault is yours. If you legitimately could not walk then I retract the comment about hobbling past a bin, but only if you legitimately couldn’t walk (see later).

As for the second paragraph such would be a matter of interpretation. I’ve also worked event staff, some time back admittedly and admittedly not at anything of the scale of a WWE event, and my job was essentially to direct people and see that things proceeded in an orderly fashion. Nowhere in my job description did it say I had to throw away visitors’ trash for them.

Maybe it’s a local cultural thing. Also you’ve still not mentioned what this person did that was racist. If what you say is true he didn’t do something for you that he did for someone else. That’s not necessarily a racist motivation. That’s just being a prick or just getting sick of lazy people asking for unnecessary favours. It is possible to deny a black (or whatever) person’s requests without it being racially motivated. Put the race card back in your wallet and man up.

Also, and this is the most important point here, if you did end up with a staff member assisting you for the rest of the day your injury clearly couldn’t have been serious. You didn’t go to hospital, after all, by your own admission. You stayed at the event, which means that you either hobbled around, as I suggested originally, or you had a wheel chair. Either way you were mobile and would have passed several bins over the course of the day, meaning that you could have thrown your own trash away, meaning that the event staff was perfectly justified in not wanting to be your personal trash bitch.

Put the selfish sense of entitlement away and quit whining.

          • BlazeKing

“TL;DR – OP’s whining is successfully challenged and he’s confirmed as a selfish douche.”

That’s the problem: You didn’t read.

“You didn’t say that you couldn’t walk. You said that you couldn’t walk normally”

If I can’t walk normally, why on Earth would you think I would hobble around the IZOD center? How the hell does that make any sense to you? Like I said in my initial post, ONE GUY DID NOT HELP ME BUT ANOTHER STAFF MEMBER WAS GLAD TO ASSIST ME. STAFF IS THERE TO ASSIST PATRONS IF THEY NEED HELP WITH ANYTHING. I HAVE WORKED IN ARENAS AS A MANAGER MYSELF!!!

I’m sick of you guys not reading what I typed and try to make me out to be the bad guy. I’m a frequent visitor of this site and I am never a douche to ANYBODY. This here is making me not even want to hold my tongue to people talking down about me when they weren’t even there to see how events unfolded. Add to the fact that everybody else who was around me when I got injured said the exact same thing I said and I noted that in my initial post. If you were to take the time and actually read the others complaints about IZOD staff, you would see that it was not me being a douchebag. The IZOD staff did not like us visitors coming there and making their day harder for them. They still should not have taken it out on the guests.

          • Kenneth

Oh I read yours. The TL;DR is for people who don’t want to read my long post. It’s a courtesy.

“You didn’t say that you couldn’t walk. You said that you couldn’t walk normally”
If I can’t walk normally, why on Earth would you think I would hobble
around the IZOD center? How the hell does that make any sense to you? —— I doubt it was cheap to go to this event. The cost alone would suggest that you’d stay and hobble around if it was possible to do so. If you didn’t stay at the IZOD then fair enough, but again it’s your fault for not being clear in what you say. We’re not mind readers you know. We can only respond to the information you provide, and if you’re not clear in that…

As for not being a douche to anybody you were clearly a douche at the IZOD centre for expecting someone whose job involves monitoring thousands of people to be your personal trash bitch. The one guy didn’t help you and another did, fine, I’m not saying that the first guy wasn’t a tosser but you were also a tosser making such a huge deal about a cup.

It’s a cup for crying out loud. Think about it for a second. With so many people there people littering would be accounted for. They’ll expect it. They’ll have people there to deal with it. It wouldn’t have been a big deal in the slightest to leave your stuff where it was while you went and had your toes kissed better or whatever it was you went and did.

The douchy thing is expecting the staff to make extra effort to appease you when they’re clearly in a stressful situation. The douchier thing is to accuse someoneof being racist, which you’ve still not rationalised by the way.

I’ll be honest with you… right now you’re coming across as a guy with a huge chip on his shoulder who pulls the race card whenever something doesn’t go his way and who’s upset because the world didn’t end the moment he had an owie on his footsie.

Feel free to respond if you like but if you do I have a request. It’s only a request, not a demand. Please can you be clear and specific about what happened? How exactly were you clumsy and at what point in the day did you injure yourself? What occurred with the staff member in question? How was he racist to you? What medical attention did you receive and when? Did you remain at the IZOD centre or did you leave because of your little boo boo? Are you such a whiny bitch in real life or was it just a one off?

  • Tim

When you get there as soon as the line opens and they let you in, you would expect to be able to meet the person. They should have known when to cut the line off.

  • Sander

I never been to Wrestlemania, since I am from Holland so a WM visit will cost a lot. But, I would never put myself in a situation like this. Of course, I have planned a trip to a WM, but I’ve never even thought about going to an Axxes. When i see it on TV, i see a lot, realy a lot of people putting a lot of money on the line to stay in the line.

  • Kenneth

I’m surprised anyone expects anything other than chaos and disappointment at events like these.
