Legends House Premiere, Title Matches At Wrestlemania 30, Sandow Buried, How Many WWE Network Subscribers

When will Legends’ House and Monday Night War premiere on the WWE Network?

WWE Legends’ House will premiere on the WWE Network on Thursday, April 17, 2014 at 8 PM ET. A premiere date has still not been announced for Monday Night War. WWE is strategic in the way they release their original programming, as they want to make sure they promote it properly so that people will watch. It’s just like any other network. They strategically plan the release of shows around when they believe the programming will be the most successful. The best thing about Legends’ House is that it’s actually going to be seen as it’s been in the can for two years.

With Wrestlemania XXX less than two weeks away what are the plans for the WWE Tag Team Championship, the WWE Intercontinental Championship, the United States Championship and the WWE Divas Championship?

It’s likely the WWE Tag Team Championship and Divas Championship find their way onto the Wrestlemania 30 card but I wouldn’t expect defenses of the Intercontinental and US titles respectively. Big E is an announced participant for the 30-man Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal and Dean Ambrose will likely be involved in something involving Kane and/or The Wyatt Family. Naomi is probably the favorite to challenge AJ Lee for the Divas Championship but it’ll be interesting to see if more Total Divas get on the card as WWE plans to tie in the reality series into the Wrestlemania card. The Usos defending is likely, at this point it’s just a matter of against who. Vince McMahon often goes back and forth on the importance of tag team wrestling. Some weeks it’s like the division has been restored, others it’s been forgotten again.

Does WWE know what they’re doing with Damien Sandow?

Damien Sandow was in line for a push that never got off the ground. He’s one of many workers lost in the shuffle that has more potential than is being realized but it’s Wrestlemania season and it’s a very difficult time for up and coming talent to be prominently featured. Let me also take the opportunity to mention that I do not like how Sandow unsuccessfully cashed in his Money in the Bank contract. At the time, it was still believed to be an elevation when he went under to John Cena but he quickly fizzled out. The intrigue in the Money in the Bank stipulation has not been lost, however, many hoped Sandow was on his way to a more prominent spot following last year’s victory. He went under to Dolph Ziggler in live event matches on the weekend loop of the Northeast.

What’s the latest on WWE Network subscriptions? Are they close to their 1 million target and if not, what’s their time frame to achieve it?

WWE has stated time and time again the benchmark is 1 million subscribers for the WWE Network to become profitable. Until that point, the WWE Network will be seen as an investment. As for how many there are currently, WWE plans to reveal initial data the day after Wrestlemania 30 on Monday, April 7, 2014. Company officials have also stated as long as they reach 1 million subscribers by the end of the year, the WWE Network will be seen as a success. Considering the target for Wrestlemania buys in years past is 1 million buys, it’ll be interesting to see how far along they are after the show this year.

From the Ask WNW vault…

July 2012: Throughout the past several weeks we’ve heard from WWE names about their favorite Raw moments. What is your favorite Raw moment? - As a long-time wrestling fan, I have many favorite Raw moments but for the sake of conversation I will mention a few. One of my best memories of the Attitude Era was Steve Austin driving the beer truck in the arena and hosing Vince McMahon. A lot of my favorite Raw moments from the Attitude Era included Austin as it was edgy programming that was very entertaining. The night that Shane McMahon showed up on WCW Monday Nitro was a memorable one as it was something I don’t think anyone would have imagined just five years prior to it happening. As for a recent memory, CM Punk’s worked shoot promo on Raw last summer was one of my favorites and elevated him to an entire different level.

Does anyone know when this year’s Elimination Chamber PPV is going to be added? I’m dying to see The Shield vs The Wyatts match

    • http://www.wrestlingnewsworld.com/ Richard Gray

30 days after initial airing. I would assume this week

      • OneMoreQuestion

Is that also the case for Raw and Smackdown? I’ve been quite sore over the fact that the shows aren’t up immediate after airing, as I was informed.

        • Bob’s Diner

Yup – they have a contract with Hulu which means they can’t add the shows until 30 days after they air.

          • OneMoreQuestion

            Damn you HULU!!!!! >_<

          • Guest

Ok. But what about MNR. We havent seen that yet. And is the Royal Rumble2014 added now?

          • Bob’s Diner

            What is MNR???
Wasn’t the Royal Rumble 2014 supposed to be available at launch??

I have no idea what is currently on there – I don’t have the network. I just know that anything that airs on the network is made available immediately after it ends. Anything else, such as Smackdown and Raw, are subject to the terms of their current contracts. Hence, Raw and Smackdown have a 30 day waiting period before they can be added to the network.

Elimination Chamber was the other exception, because it was the last of the PPVs and was available on replay with cable providers

      • Guest

Oh. Because my friend that has the Network, she was wondering when that and this years Royal Rumble was going to be added. I didnt hear about that 30 day rule.

Also, how come MNR doesnt air full episodes after airing live on USA. Smackdown does. She doesnt have cable, so she always watch her MNR via Hulu…with 1/3 of the content misding of course. She figured that when the Network comes, she might cancel Hulu and watch it on the Network…but we just cant find it. Thats stupid on there part for not airing it. SMDH!

  • illdecide

They could gain one more subscription right here by releasing the network in Canada, not quite sure what the holdup is..

    • http://www.wrestlingnewsworld.com/ Richard Gray

I believe it has to do with television contracts.

  • Brandon van Reenen

WWE Network will NEVER happen in South Africa. :(

    • Bob’s Diner

      Why do you say that?

  • Venom

I think it has to be more then television contracts for it to air in Canada. I mean don’t they lost raw and smackdown on sportsnet website after it airs? I would assume WWE has more control of their content then another network does. Besides would the network be like Netflix in that they have a US version and a Canadian version? If that’s the case it can be selective on conflicts TV contracts.

I think, and I could be wrong but I hear they have ads in the network. Maybe they don’t have ad clearance or need to make advertisement deals per country? I say this cause I watch Bog Brother Canada and the live feeds are free but they’re blocked in US and it’s speculated that it has to do with commercials that air on the live feeds arnt cleared for outside of Canada.

    • Alex

I have the Network and I’ve yet to see ads so I don’t think that’s the case. You’re probably right about it conflicting with WWE’s TV/PPV deals in Canada.

    • TheDeadOwl

I really hope when the Network launches in Canada that its not similar to Netflix US/Canada. We barely get 20% of the content that the american netflix has. And waaaay too many Canadian made and developed programming, which im not sure if anyone has watched any but it isnt the greatest viewing experience. The only comparisons I can think of to give people a clearer understanding of how crappy it is would be American Netflix = Kane, Canadian Netflix = Dr. Isaac Yankem

      • _lawrenc1

As a Netfilx user in the USA, I wish I could stream “Corner Gas”. It’s my favorite TV show from the last 15 or so years (not including sports, sports entertainment, and Pro Wrestling), and Canadian to boot!

        • Bob’s Diner

One of the funniest shows ever

      • Guest

        Lol. Haha. I hear ya

  • Bad News Barrett

im afraid ive got some BAD NEWS !!!… there will be NO intercontinental , tag , u.s or divas title matches at wrestlemania ..damien sandow will not get a push and he will then be released from the wwe within the next 6 months ..and the wwe network will fail to get 1 million subscribers , and becomes yet another money losing wwe project ! hahhahaha thank you very much , good day to you all !

    • Jbreed

Well this time you actually threw a bit of good news in there as far as the divas title match.

      • Bad News Barrett

well im afraid ive got some BAD NEWS for you then jbreed. at the last minute wwe will add an ” every diva for themselves , 1 hour iron women match ” to the wrestlemania card . so not only will you get to see all the divas in action, but you will get to suffer through them for 1 whole hour !! hahahhaha thank you very much and good day to you all !

      • Bad News Barrett

hahhaaha jbreed did you see raw ? im afraid ive got some BAD NEWS for you ! my BAD NEWS prophecy came true ! . you WILL get to see ALL of your favourite divas in action in a title match at wrestlemania after all jbreed hahhaha… that word i had in triple H’s ear paid off . now all i have to do is swindle my way into winning that jobber battle royal . .and mark my words , ive got some BAD NEWS for all of you , i will be the last man standing at the end of it .hahahha thank you and good day to you all !

Usos vs Real americans vs Rybacxle for tag team titles. Usos retain, real americans blow-off.
AJ vs Nikki vs vs Naomi. Nikki should win. AJ n tamina have a blow-off.
    SHIELD vs Kane & outlaws.

This should complete 8 matches for WM. Doesn’t sound that interesting unless the wrestlers can work it well.

    • Jbreed

These matches would actually be kind of interesting if Kane & NAO/The Shield wasn’t put together at the last minute and Rybaxle would have actually won some matches lately to be legitimate contenders.

      • Bob’s Diner

I’m still unimpressed that The Shield are going to be wasted not just in another 6-man match like last year, but against 3 old guys – two of which have no business taking a WrestleMania spot from the current roster

        • Guest

          Agreed

        • GOR

Shield should have faced Wyatts in a rematch from EC with sm added stipulations.
WWE have really found sm guys with incredible talent of not seeing the obvious & instead going for sm ad-hoc stupid idea.

  • Bob’s Diner

Ha I still remember when Sandow failed to win against Cena and everyone was going on about how he looked good in the match and Cena was going to make him a star blah blah blah… here we are 9 months later and Sandow’s career has gone so backwards he might as well form a tag team with Zack Ryder called ‘The Graveyard’

With that one Money in the Bank briefcase, WWE had the chance to elevate Damien Sandow AND Cody Rhodes – instead we got John Cena vs Randy Orton in their never-ending battle for supremacy
