This next match is a showdown between Chikara and Ring of Honor. The first man to the ring is representing Chikara, and more specifically the faction The Colony: Fire Ant. Fire Ant gets a really good reaction from the crowd, drawing a fair amount of streamers.
TJ Perkins is out next, and he gets a good reaction, but I think Fire Ant got a bit of a better reaction from the fans.
Chikara/Ring of Honor Showdown
Fire Ant vs. TJ Perkins
The bell rings and we get a lock up but it’s quickly shrugged off. Perkins shows off a quick spin kick, but it doesn’t hit anything but air. We get a bit of trading holds and pins, but only for a couple of seconds before we get another stare down. Perkins takes Fire Ant down to the mat with a hammerlock, but it’s not long before Fire fights up to his feet and out of the hold. Fire hits an arm drag, and these two continue to work at a dizzying pace, showcasing some amazing speed.
Another lock up and Fire is able to work over Perkins’ arm. Perkins is able to take Fire down to the mat with a hammerlock, and eventually transitions into a rear chin lock. None of this lasts long as they both get back to their feet and Fire hits a nice arm drag, then shows off, walking the ropes for another arm drag. Perkins puts Fire into a tree of woe, but Fire escapes and hits a hurricanrana for a two count. Fire hits a dropkick that sends Perkins to the outside. Fire teases a dive, but Perkins heads back into the ring, picks him up and simply drops him. Perkins gets a two count, then gets right back up for a big suplex.
Perkins locks in a Gory special, but it doesn’t last long as Fire is able to turn things around for a near fall of his own. Fire sends Perkins into the ropes and Perkins catches himself, avoiding a charging Fire. Fire connects with a kick to the head, then hits a suicide dive through the ropes, then a tope con heilo over the top to hit Perkins and take him out on the outside.
Fire Ant heads to the top and hits a beautiful missile dropkick, but he’s hit with a nice neckbreaker from Perkins, and running knees in the corner. Perkins tries for a powerbomb, but it’s countered into an ace crusher. Fire hits a nasty kick to the chest, then a crazy basement DDT for another near fall. Fire tries for an Alabama slam, but places Perkins on the top rope instead. Fire cracks Perkins with a kick to the shoulderblade and heads up to the top. Perkins is able to counter and powerbomb Fire out of the corner. Perkins hits Fire with a kick to the side of the head, but it’s still not enough to keep him down. Perkins nails a 450 splash, and gets the three count.
Winner: TJ Perkins
Kelly and McGuinness turn their attention to the next match, after calling Perkins a great ambassador for ROH. They talk a bit about Kyle O’Reilly vs. Adam Cole, before showing a video package that shows how these two former partners came to be booked in a match here this afternoon.
