Chris Sabin Wins TNA Championship

Chris Sabin beat Bully Ray on this week’s Destination X episode of Impact Wrestling to win the TNA Championship.

The match broke down with a brawl between Aces and Eights and The Main Event Mafia. When the fight finally got to the back following a referee bump, Ray tried to hit Sabin with a hammer in the ring but Sabin countered. When Bully went for a powerbomb, Sabin hit Ray with the hammer and pinned him to get the victory and win the title.

This is disconcerting, there was literally a week of build to this. I’m all for Sabin’s elevation, but put some planning and development into your storylines, TNA. You spend the better part of a year wasting time with A&8s and then go and either release or fail to resign members of the stable, then turn around and have Bully drop the title to someone who he has very little beef with. And to think TNA’s biggest advantage over WWE at one point was long term planning.

I agree. His first title win and not on a ppv? I’m worried they have done this to create a boost in ratings and will put the belt back on Bully Ray afterwards.

I wonder if Alex Shelley is kicking himself in the ass for not resigning with TNA when the offer came on the table. I think Sabin’s win is a refreshing way to let ppl know that they are finally pushing their home-base stars and not the former wwe guys. Think about it, I know Bully is a former wwe wrestler but he’s been in TNA since 2005 along with Dvon and the transformation he went through, not only losing the weight but delevoping a character ppl cared about and wether you like him or hate him, you still cared. You had Austin Aries, Bobby Roode, guys who at one point didn’t see that they were gonna be in the title picture. Now we get Sabin. The next guy who I hope gets the run, even if its just for a couple of months it’s Christopher Daniels because that guy is more than deserving to be champion!
