Michael Moody Not Upset With WWE – Just Not What He Envisioned

The son of Paul Bearer, Michael Moody, isn’t upset with WWE for the use of his late father’s likeness in the build to CM Punk vs. Undertaker at Wrestlemania 29.  Moody just felt the closing segment of this week’s WWE Raw was hard to watch and it wasn’t what he envisioned. Below is a text message Moody sent to WWE that was relayed with permission to WrestlingNewsWorld.com:

Hey. I woke up in time to watch the tail end of the show. What you explained would happen happened. Which is fine. Just it was a little difficult to watch it play out. I put a message on Facebook last night saying that we approved it but it wasn’t what I envisioned. That I didn’t have anything to say. Well woke up this morning and that quote is being used all over “media outlets”. For the record. I was fine w it. Was hard to watch but y’all are professionals and I trust.

I apologize for any confusion caused in my earlier report.  I was under the assumption Moody was upset because the people that commented on the original Facebook post buried WWE and attacked Vince McMahon.  When Moody didn’t remove the comments or correct them, I took it as an endorsement.

i agree yesterday it was really hard, to watch the punk-taker angle. the reason was that it had an awesome meomery WM 22i believe was when paul came back, but the bad reason was when the “ash” came out and the fact that cm punk got cheerd at the end and not booed but clearly wwe wanted punk to get booed not cheerd

I know what you mean. Its a pathetic attempt from the WWE. What exactly were they planning to do with this feud when Paul Bearer was alive? The match had been planned before he died, so surely they had a build-up in mind. They should have just carried on with it without bringing Paul into the story. I don’t care what Paul would’ve wanted and whether his family approved it or not – its not good and its not the last resort. Surely there were other options for the WWE to build this feud and there is also nothing “Attitude” about this.

It doesn’t matter whether Vince faked his own funeral earlier or not – there is a difference in faking a death and in actually utilizing somebody’s real death for making your own money. IMO, WWE should give a fraction of the money they earn from Wrestlemania to Paul’s family, but surely that won’t happen. Its stupid money-hungry mentality in an era when they don’t even have any competition (Attitude was edgy and use more of aggression/ rebellious characters/ sex because they wanted to beat WCW – right now in a PG era where they are dominating the industry, what is the justification to use this? That too, it’d be fine if its a rebellious story but why use somebody’s death?)

You see Notjing Attitude about it? Two words; Katie Vick.

Punk will never equal ‘Taker, that’s true. Unfortunately for Punk.

I agree with what Rambo said.

Of course you do. Any excuse to bitch and tell us that the indies are far better than anything WWE did or does. Just stop watching! You’re getting stupidity childish on here these days.

The closing segment might have been a little hard to swallow but bottom line its acting. I think Paul would have loved it. Its cheap heat for Punk. Plain and simple. As far as Paul’s family getting money off of Wrestlemania, correct me if I’m wrong but if Paul was under a legends contract when he died then his family should continue to receive compensation at least until the contract expires if not longer.

As tasteless that it may have been, I’m pretty sure that the WWE, Punk and Heyman meant no disrespect to William Moody himself- just played with his character. Hopefully. — I still wish that Taker would grab Heyman, make him eat those ashes and turn him into Bearer for real! There’s still Friday….
