More Title Unification To Come?, Roman Reigns Speaks Out, Alberto Del Rio Cleared

- Dot com posted a new article on Thursday questioning if the Intercontinental Championship and United States Championship should be unified. Both Big E Langston and Dean Ambrose, the current respective title holders are quoted in the piece. Click here to read it.

- The Flagship has a new Q&A online with Roman Reigns that you can read at this link.

- Alberto Del Rio noted on Twitter that he’s in New York City for Thursday night’s WWE live event and will be performing. Del Rio hasn’t worked since suffering a concussion in a match against Sin Cara on the December 9, 2013 Slammy Awards episode of Monday Night Raw. It appears the note on Twitter is indication he has been medically cleared to compete.

Yey more unification. (Sorry this is text so it lacks the sarcasm I intended)

They SHOULD unify them. By having less belts, it makes the few belts they have mean more. Way too many championships around the WWE the last few years so no one cared. Boxing should do the same. That’s a sport that has become a joke in terms of “champions.”

But then also not enough belts means less storylines to fit on a 3hr show. There isn’t very many matches people enjoy watching that don’t involve a belt holder in them.

It’ll force them to make non title feuds important again…which means ppl will have to better develop their characters hopefully…that was one of the things that made the old school work…true enough not everyone could have a title feud cause there were only a few titles but you could still have a great non title feud built just as carefully with the right ppl

When’s the last time Ambrose defended the US Title?

How sad, and here I thought ADR was cleared to go back to his country! :-(

The only way I would be in favor of any more title unifications would be if they placed great emphasis on being the champion again. As my sister noted upon watching Christmas Raw, she misses the days when holding either of the midcard belts was just as important, if not more, than holding the heavyweight championship. Hell, I’m old enough to remember the days when being IC champion was actually used as a stepping stone to the WWE title. Nowadays, it’s used as a prop that is held but rarely defended. Big E would be the exception to that rule at present though, since he’s defended it more times in the past few months than Ambrose has defended the US title all year.

Awful idea…the company has always been better with 2 mid cards to upper mid card titles and a main title..when used properly the 5 titles they have now are the best.

  • K!NG

In favor of unifying them but would be open to a cruiserweight or light heavyweight title title coming back after the unification of the Ic and u.s. belts.

If they do unify these.. at least bring another title back that brings something back to the ring.. like the hardcore title..

Might as well unify Triple H and Vince into one sentient being like Gogeta!
