New World Heavyweight Champion

Alberto Del Rio beat Dolph Ziggler to win the World Heavyweight Championship at WWE Payback. The way the match was booked, Ziggler “wasn’t ready” to return from his concussion and Del Rio used it to his advantage.

After winning the match, Del Rio came out and cut a promo to a lot of heat from the Chicago crowd where he touted his title win.

I’m so mad but it looks like a face turn for ziggler

  • Cubed56

Either zigglers injury was career threatening(hope to hell it’s not), or this a double turn with a bigger plan for Ziggler, anything other than these two situations is horrendous.

    • isaac

Not sure about del rio going heel but really hope ziggler doesn’t go face cuz he would just be another miz

      • Cubed56

That’s possible but Ziggler is much better then miz in the ring, and he’s got the sympathy card going for him with the fans, so that may allow a face turn to work.

        • isaac

Ziggler is an awesome heel and hope he doesn’t end up like morrison as a face

        • Justin Lal

He’s a better wrestler but nowhere near as good as Miz on the mic. The last time they had a verbal interaction Miz made him look very inferior. I think Ziggler can work as a face, but he needs to get away from AJ/Big E.

          • Nick K

Dude just because you like someone it doesn’t mean they magically become the best. Miz is good on the mic but let’s face facts, Ziggler’s better.

        • sheamus fan

I personally think the mizs is one of the most underrated superstars on the roster he deserves to be in the world title or wwe title picture whereaszziggler is just mid card talent!

  • Kleck

I wonder if this is where we see the separation between a face Ziggler and a heel Big E

  • H.M.

Del Rio’s touting his win was essentially a **** you to all the fans, who were mainly pro-Ziggler.

I seriously hope the do some sort of a double turn but even that wouldn’t be so great. We already know how terrible a heel Del Rio was, as a face turn seemed refreshing; but looks like that’s also flunked. The is a midcarder talent at best; I’m sorry, most of his title wins are unwarranted.

    • Justin Lal

Not tonight. He kicked the living crap out of the IWC’s new golden boy.

      • Smart Mark

The IWC’s golden boy is #1: Punk, #2: Daniel Bryan, #3: The Shield and then Ziggler at #4 so i have no idea what your on about.

        • TheBigKing1

          True

      • H.M.

What’s with your unrelenting hate towards the IWC? He’s cheered for because a certain, outspoken demographic enjoy watching him. I understand that it can be a bit hostile among the IWC, but that doesn’t warrant you coming on here and constantly bashing them as if you’re not a part of the community. The very FACT that you post here MAKES you a member of the IWC. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. Good God, you’re dumb. If you think ADR winning on the basis of pissing off most of the IWC was a good move, then you’ve lost the plot.

        • Smart Mark

Thank you, and clearly Justin won’t respond because he only replies to the people that aren’t putting up much of an argument. Maybe it makes him feel smarter or something, i dunno.

        • TheBigKing1

He wasn’t hating the whole IWC, he was sticking it to the smarks of the IWC. I hate when ya’ll all say that crap. Just because were in the same community, doesn’t mean we think alike and are 1. Geez!

      • Nick K

Your bias against “internet guys” makes it impossible to take you seriously i don’t think your knowledgeable enough for this website perhaps wwe.com is best for you. Anyway we’re looking at a double switch here so im not gonna be angry people gotta see the big picture. Del Rio’s face run has been a disaster as most people would agree and Ziggler is white hot to the point where every crowd cheers him so he’ll likely win the title back as a face.

  • Anand Vijayakumar

I cant believe ziggler lost the match. The guy just cant catch a break. Years of hardwork and Swagger messes it up with a botched kick and now this?

    He deserves better …

  • Justin Lal

Finally WWE had enough balls to stick it to a smarky crowd. Alberto did a fantastic job switching roles in the match. It also looked like he worked extra stiff with Ziggler. The best part was when Alberto kicked AJ’s Divas title. Alberto Del Rio was the MVP tonight. If people are pissed about Ziggler winning you should really blame smarky crowds. They are so predictable in how they boo the faces/cheer the heels that WWE probably planned this out early on.

    • wilo

it seems u must be a ziggler hater

    • amaanakter

You just need to piss off! Idiot!

    • sheamus fan

I think del Rio and punk stole the show. The matches in which they were involved were standouts

    • TheBigKing1

Yeah they really sticked it to them. Lol. That’s the only good thing about this…but I still felt that they should have kept the title on Ziggler til at least MITB though.

  • Jesse Sherwood

That was just a nasty match to watch. Maybe it’s because it hits way too close to home for me, but I got sick watching it. That should have NEVER been put across TV.

    • Justin Lal

It also seemed like Del Rio was working really stiff on Ziggler. I think Ziggler was crying after the match.

      • TheBigKing1

        Lol. Yeah he was.

    • Lebron

I don’t get it. What exactly happened tonight? What in that match shouldn’t have been put on TV? I’m pissed that Ziggler lost! The man deserved a chance to have a respectable reign.

      • Jesse Sherwood

The usage of concussions as fodder in a storyline and the impact they have on the physical well being of a person.

  • David F.

Lets wait and see this week if Ziggy and ADR’s turns are complete. It will be interesting to see if Teddy Long reverses the decision and gives title back to Ziggler by saying Ziggler was in no condition to compete.
