WNW Reader Gives His Thoughts On A Recent WWE House Show

Written by Donnie on Aug 13, 2008 - 3:09:22 PM

WNW reader Donnie sent the following:

I would just like to say a few things about the decline in my eyes of the Wrestling shows we pay good money to go to these days. I recently attended the Summer Slam Tour house show in Salisbury, MD on 8-10-08...

Half the wrestlers that were advertised were not there (due to draft and whatever reasons) I was very disappointed. This was a Father-son night for me as I was taking my 10 year old for his first ever Live event. The crowds at the 1 lonely merchandise stand were terrible so I was going to wait till intermission to get a souvenir for my son... Intermission was so short by the time I got out there it was time to come back in and several things they had they were already sold out of...That really sucks..!!!

We went back inside to finish watching the matches. In my eyes the matches were not very exciting at all..!! My son said to me "Dad, this is nothing like on TV." I apologized to my son and I felt bad showing him TV wrestling and taking him to some lame worst then backyard wrestling event. For the amount of money per ticket, the wrestlers barely walked around ring to share the moment with fans...

Security was sitting people down who were getting "to close" when good guys were walking round and it was impossible to get to the rails to get a high 5 from someone and we were 2nd row ringside. As soon as matches were over wrestlers rolled out and spent no time at all with fans. What ever happened to the good ole days where wrestlers stayed a min or two and signed autographs and shook hands making kids like my son remember their first times like I did back when it was Sting, Vadar, Flair, Steiners??

Good ole wrestlers who played the fans and in my eyes appreciated them. Without fans they wouldn’t have a job! They need to sell tickets for less to fill more seats....fix the sound and props to make it look more real...and have more signings and more fan interaction...that has been lost to story lines and $ signs in corporate eyes...Like I said without fans it wouldn’t be....Never forget that and bring F-U-N back to wrestling!
