Paige’s WWE Status, Demotion Of Roman Reigns, Match Confirmed For WM33, GSP vs. Tyron Woodley, Cyborg Returning

- A lot of ink has been spilled about Paige and her status with WWE, even resulting in her mother taking to social media to tell everyone to back off and her daughter is out with an injury. We noted yesterday Paige is dealing with an injury and that's why she was pulled from next week’s WWE tour of New Zealand and Australia. This is also the reason she hasn’t worked since the June 27, 2016 episode of Monday Night Raw.

Paige, who is the real-life girlfriend of Alberto Del Rio, continues to be the topic of a lot of speculation. Del Rio is believed to be on his way out of WWE as his contract is coming up soon. As we reported here in our Members content, Del Rio and Paige were split in the 2016 WWE Draft because Triple H feels Del Rio is a bad influence on Paige. That’s the excuse he gave to justify it anyway, while others saw it as Triple H punishing Del Rio because he doesn’t like him. Hunter feels Del Rio is constantly disrespecting him and that the company shouldn’t put a lot of effort into him because he’s likely to leave anyway.

- I’ve spoken with a lot of people about Roman Reigns, all who which think his program with Rusev is two years too late. The consensus is the program should help him to recover momentum and will give Vince McMahon options going forward. Vince has been determined for years to get Reigns over as a top babyface but it just hasn’t worked. Vince was starting to waiver in his support and then Reigns failed a WWE Wellness test, which provided the opportunity for the demotion and ultimate reset. Reigns addressed the locker room over his failure, which was for amphetamines.

- The Big Show vs. Shaquille O’Neal is confirmed for Wrestlemania 33 next year. Here’s what Big Show told Shanghai Daily about it: "We'll have one heck of a match and we'll see what's up. We'll give the fans a treat.”

- Kevin Owens spoke to reporters in an international teleconference on Monday to promote SummerSlam. The National were on the call and offered a transcription. One interesting quote that I was saw is who he credits for helping show him how to carry himself in the WWE locker room: "I found a lot help from John Cena and Randy Orton just from observing them. I am pretty confident with how I do things in the ring, but as far as to how you carry yourself as a WWE Superstar I think I have looked at how they do things and I guess I have taken from them how, as a general rule of thumb, to be outside the ring as they have been here a long time and obviously are good examples. They are good representatives of the company and that is who I have taken from.”

- The video above features Dolph Ziggler in WWE’s “Off the Top Rope” segment on SportsCenter with Jonathan Coachman.

- John Cena was a guest last night on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. The appearance was primarily to promote his match against AJ Styles at SummerSlam but it was a lot of fun. Here are videos: video | video

- John Cena, Erick Rowan, AJ Styles, Apollo Crews and The Usos will not be featured on next week’s episode of Smackdown Live (event info) as they’ll be heading overseas for the company’s tour of New Zealand and Australia.

- Newly crowned UFC Welterweight Champion Tyron Woodley wants to fight Georges St-Pierre. reports that Bovada sportsbook set the opening line for the potential bout on Wednesday, with St-Pierre as a -150 favorite over +120 underdog Woodley. We can confirm that is still the line as of Friday morning. You can track it at this link.

- Cris "Cyborg" Justino is set to return to UFC on September 24, 2016 at UFC Fight Night 95 in Brasilia, Brazil. She’ll face Lina "Elbow Princess" Lansberg and the fight will air on Fox Sports 1.

- UFC Fight Night 92 featuring Yair Rodríguez vs. Alex Caceres will take place on Saturday at the Vivint Smart Home Arena in Salt Lake City, Utah and air on Fox Sports 1. Below is the lineup:

Main Card:

  • Yair Rodríguez vs. Alex Caceres

Cyborg VS Ronda Rousey Anyone ?
thanks richard for this , getting more info always gives us a good chance to upgrade to premium , keep up the good work !
RR should have gone for the IC title after breaking up the shield , now this is a good feud , no idea who will be booed over here but this is a good feud for him , hope this is not a road to redemption so that he ends up back at the main event of WM ( 33 ) again
the thing with turning RR heel is that he will be main eventing every PPV again but as a heel , do you guys really want that ? I guess we all have bad heat for RR , not normal heat , lol
who is HHH to tell anyone what to do and what not to ? it is very weird , awkward and screwed up relationship , but he should not interfere in other’s private lives , del rio is great in ring worker , seems WWE is backing him though which is sad , as he is an established star in WWE and worldwide
who will be there on next SD then ? hope they make use of this to put on great matches and every other star is featured prominently

    • 1molly23

You are absolutely correct, ADR is “great in ring worker” – as long as he’s allowed to phone in his participation!

      • Ayat Persian

can’t you guys type in proper ?
did not get what you wrote in here , the 2nd part of the sentence that is

        • Molly was cracking on the fact that ADR “phones in” or puts little effort into his ring work in WWE.

        • Made sense to me. Many of us are quite put out by ADR and his inability to give a flying fig when he’s in-character. His mic work is lackadaisical, his ring work is phoned in, at best, and he is a total jerk to almost everyone backstage, unless they can do something for him. Not saying he’s with Paige for one reason, but a man of his age with a much younger woman, all the while his wife is at home. ADR cares for little but money, and the while phoning in his work and badmouthing the other superstars. I’m with ‘Molly’, ADR could be great, but all he cares to do is phone it in.

          • Xavier

Del Rio has been divorced from his wife for sometime now. And no matter what we think of ADR personality HHH is completely wrong here. Paige is 24 now, ADR is 39 so no laws are being broken.

          • Ayat Persian

agree with you on this one
she just had to put her big ego in here as she has beef with me and wanted to bury me after I roasted her on her ” irrational ranting on ric flair “

          • Vomkrieg

She has a beef with you? She’s replied to a grand total of one of your posts Out of curiosity, I checked back a month, and 1 reply total, the one above.

If replying to you and not agreeing constitutes “a beef”, then you are not going to last long on the internet.

          • Gary Robert

HHH isn’t wrong. He didn’t break them up. They’re still in a relationship. They’re simply on different brands now. There no WWE rule that I know of that says that couples are automatically branded together.

          • Ben

They didn’t have to be branded together, but that doesn’t mean Hunter should be pushing for them to be intentionally split up. It really isn’t his place to be judging whether or not people should be together and try to interfere if he disagrees. Thankfully, Del Rio will be gone entirely soon and this will all be moot.

          • Evon Callaway Bitterweed Reese

            One thousand likes for this

  • CJ Blaze

Roman’s demotion continues as he and AJ Styles were bumped off the SummerSlam poster on dot com, and replaced with (Demon) Finn Balor and Sasha Banks.

    • Ayat Persian

that means AJ styles is getting buried again , thanks WWE
do not be so happy buddy , I still feel this is a long road to redemption leading into the main event of WM 33 ( not sure whether a heel or face ) , but I strongly still believe he will main event the next WM , this is just a way to silence the hardcore fans who were against his push after his wellness policy failure , that is it , nothing more IMHO

      • Patrick

not being on a poster does not mean AJ Styles is being buried. there is only so much room on a poster not everyone can be on it.

        • Ayat Persian

every top guy or anyone who has a top feud is in there , wanna know who is missed on ? only AJ styles !
even Richard said that VKM is high up on him , if he is really that high on his list why is he not on the poster then ? sometimes I agree if someone defends WWE , but not in this case

  • David F

Roman v Rusev will be bathroom break match of the night

    • Gary Robert

      not at all

      • David F

SummerSlam is a four hour show and it is in a smark city. If this match is placed in middle of show the crowd then it very well could be bathroom break match. Smarks have no interest in this feud. Roman is despised babyface and Rusev is boring heal foreigner gimmick that has been beaten to death. The crowd may cheer for Lana but thats it

        • Gary Robert

Guess you missed the entire crowd cheering for Roman when he came out to confront Rusev (not to say I’m pro-Reigns because I’ve advocated for him to be turned heel for over a year now) because I didn’t and I was very surprised by it. I personally love the idea of this feud. Also, I’m from “Smark City” and I’ll be at Barclay that night as well.

          • The Breaker

Maybe I need to watch it again, but I don’t remember the entire crowd ever cheering for Roman last Monday. I distinctly recall Reigns being inundated with boos, and there being a light smattering of cheers. Either way, I’m still thoroughly convinced at this point that Reigns won’t get over with the fans as a face, no matter what happens in this feud. The only positive thing that could come out of this is if they let Rusev go over in dominating fashion and really solidify him as a force to be reckoned with.

    • Ayat Persian

forgot the multi girl sd tag team match that will be announced soon ?
since they do not have any title to fight for , they will put in every chick on SD in a tag team match , I even heard WWE wants eva marie to be the face of SD female division and the 1st SD Female champion

  • Patrick

I don’t think it is any of HHH’s bussiness to interfer in Del Rio and Paige’s relationship…. I don’t care if that is his excuse or not ..or because he feels Del Rio disrespects him……… their private life and who they date is none of his bussiness………. he wouldn’t like it if someone interfered in his marriage to Steph.

    • Gary Robert

lol people angry at this is hilarious. He didn’t interfere in their relationship. WWE isn’t obligated to put couples on the same brand. They can continue to date and be in a relationship.

      • Moose

Exactly! If they choose to date despite their stressed schedules, so be it. However, given the political nature of the WWE, Paige had this coming. Yes, I am a fan of hers, but c’mon.

        • Gary Robert

I was a fan of hers when I thought she wanted me. I’m less of a fan now that I see she wants nothing to do with me and instead wants Del Rio, lol

  • Dolph comes across as a rockstar here!

  • Xavier

But but….John Cena & Randy Orton bury people

    • David Carey

They don’t bury people… The writing does.

  • Ayat Persian

man ,seriously who is this eddie guy ?
why is he spamming me 24/7 ? I write anything and he upvotes it for no reason !
I am pretty sure you guys have the same problem too
hey , the self professed ” QUEEN OF WNW ” , why don’t you do something about that , huh ? you can bury a 2 time hall of fame and 16 time world champion but cannot take a spammer or stalker off the discussion/comments sections ? or maybe you are only good enough for that ….

    • Dave Barton

    • Gary Robert

      up-voting is spam? lol

  • Mandy

I can’t say I really blame HHH given Del Rio’s history and how Paige has been behaving. HHH probably sees the potential in Paige and does not want to see it go to waste.

I have to agree about Roman and Rusev’s feud, there was a time this feud would have been great but now not so much. Roman being demoted to midcard is good but I don’t want to see Rusev lose the title just yet, not when much work has gone into building him back up after the damage they did to him before. I guess one way this could work is by keeping Roman as midcard while Rusev moves up to main event

  • Dave Barton

I realize Big Show is considered a very special athlete, being the most successful giant of the last 20 years. But to constantly job him out at WM just doesn’t make sense, especially to other sports stars who really don’t need the rub (Akebono, Floyd Mayweather, and now Shaq). I mean, seriously, I can not see any non-wrestling fan saying “I’m gonna buy that WrestleMania show so I can see a real athlete beat up that giant fake wrestler.”

I know that last sentence of mine is full of ridiculousness, but that is kinda how non-wrestling fans view pro wrestling, don’t ya think?

Regardless, even if any fans of Floyd, Akebono, or Shaq decided they did want to see WM just for that one match, I’m 99.99% positive they saw the matches (and will see WM33) by either going to a bar or a friend’s house just to see that one match (which means WWE gains zero dollars from it).

As for HHH punishing Del Rio because he does not like him, it’s obvious. That’s his style. He did it to Punk too. Anyone that has an ego that can match Hunter’s ego or does not bow to the king gets punished in a similar way.

As for Roman’s program, I never understood why they did not give him a junior title to build him up as a champion & then moved him to main-event. They did the same with Cena. Gave him US Title for 1 year & then made him WWE champion after exactly 1 year. That turned out to be so successful. Never understood why they did not repeat the same with Roman.

  • Mick Clydesdale

HHH must stand for Hater Heart Helmsley.

“…because Triple H feels Del Rio is a bad influence on Paige…”

So does this mean Triple H is Paige’s Godfather?
