Philadelphia Didn’t Submit Bids For Wrestlemania 31 Or Wrestlemania 32

While the word was that Santa Clara, CA narrowly edged out Philadelphia, PA as the host city for Wrestlemania 31 in 2015, that’s not exactly the case. The ABC affiliate out of Philadelphia obtained a statement from WWE where they state the city didn’t bid on Wrestlemania 31 or Wrestlemania 32 because “because the facilities necessary to host ancillary events weren’t available.”

Executive Director of the Philadelphia Sports Congress, Larry Needle, told the outlet that WWE sent the city a request for a proposal for the events a few months ago. After discussing the idea with officials from Lincoln Financial Field, the Philadelphia Convention Center, and Comcast Spectactor, it was determined the venues were not available on the specified dates. This is why a bid was never made.
