Renee Young, The Shield Hall Of Fame Worthy?, Cena's Wrestlemania Opponent, Ziggler, JoJo/WWE

What direction do you see WWE going in with Renee Young? Is the company grooming her for something more?

I am not aware of WWE grooming Renee Young for another other role than she has currently. Young came to WWE from The Score television network in Canada for the position as a backstage interviewer. The company utilizes her in segment for the WWE App as well as in the Social Media Lounge prior to pay-per-views. She also has a role on The JBL & Cole Show. I am high up on her work and feel she fits it well.

Having just watched the final Smackdown of 2013, it seems to me that The Shield may be THE ultimate tag team/faction of all time. They are all strong individually, immense as a team, and seem to have been very much in the right place, at the right time. I would suggest that, as a group, they would be worthy of a spot in the Hall of Fame despite their short tenure so far. What are your thoughts?

You will find fewer people that are as high up on The Shied as I am, however, I do not feel their body of work over the past year is enough for them to be Hall of Fame worthy. The group possess extraordinary talent collectively and individually, however, they've not drawn at a level that would be them in the same conversation as the original nWo or DeGeneration X.

What's the latest on rumors of John Cena facing Bray Wyatt at Wrestlemania XXX next year?

The last I heard Triple H wanted to face John Cena himself at Wrestlemania XXX. I haven't heard the Bray Wyatt rumor and find that one hard to believe. WWE wants Wrestlemania XXX to be "all hands on deck" and Wyatt is not yet at a main event level.

Do you ever think Dolph Ziggler will sniff the main event scene again?

It's impossible for me to predict the future but it all comes down to opportunity. Dolph Ziggler has all the tools to work in the top of the card but his push has suffered due to injury, attitude and how Vince McMahon perceives him. Will his look and talent win out in the new year or will he continued to be plagued by the still existent glass ceiling in WWE? There's no way to answer that.

What is JoJo's status with WWE?

JoJo is still under WWE developmental contract but was phased out of Total Divas over the latter part of Season 1. Out of the entire case for the show, JoJo's stock is the lowest. There has been speculation she could be replaced but we haven't heard anything as of press time.

From the Ask WNW vault…

December 2011: What is Hulk Hogan’s relationship with Vince McMahon like? Is there a chance Hogan could ever end up back in WWE? - Hulk Hogan and Vince McMahon have a very unique relationship to say the least. Both have huge egos, however, the success they’ve endured can be traced back to one another. I personally believe there is a mutual amount of respect between Hogan and McMahon but they are not by any means friends. The talk when Hogan first came to TNA was that he couldn’t agree to terms on a WWE deal so he decided to help out TNA. While initially unhappy that Hogan joined Dixie Carter and company, I’ve heard McMahon has grown apathetic to workers such as Hogan and Ric Flair working for his “competition.” There was probably some initial fear that Hogan could elevate TNA but that clearly has not happened.

I'll be taking New Year's Eve and New Year's Day off so the next installment of Ask WNW is scheduled to run on Thursday, January 2, 2014. Happy New Year!

  • Brandon van Reenen

Ha! I remember one Divas tag match on RAW I think where JoJo came into the ring versus Tamina and in the 30 seconds she lasted, she appeared more ready and able than Eva has in her 5 or so matches. Give JoJo a chance.

    • JR Texx (Jamie)

I think that just proves what is wrong with the Divas

  • Lance UpperCutt

Rene has also been doing commentary on NXT and has been welcome fit. It’s been interesting and enjoyable to hear commentary from a woman.

  • JR Texx (Jamie)

Shield have been there a year and already suggesting if they’re HoF worthy? Wow.

    • Guest

I kind of understand the question. Hear me out…first when you think HOF you think WWE Championship reigns, and long feuds, and all this epicness. I think the question is coming from what they HAVE done over the year, and how much of an impact they’ve had with their consecutive 5 star matches.

      • JR Texx (Jamie)

No, when I hear the HoF I think of the people that do alot for the WWE and their dedication.. The Undertaker.. Shawn Michaels.. John Cena etc. Not 3 members of a faction that have been in the WWE for about 14 months.

Don’t get me wrong they’re very talented, and will probably be inducted a looooooong way down the line. Let’s just let them have a good career because jumping 10+ years down the line?

      • Jimmy

If it took Shawn Michaels more than 10+ years of 5 star matches before he got into the HOF what makes you so sure The Shield can be considered in that same legacy?

        • Bob’s Diner

Uhhh… there wasn’t really any sort of Hall of Fame for the majority of his career. Not one that really had any sort of recognition, anyway.

That really is a terrible analogy.
Name one single 5 star match Koko B Ware ever had…

I’m not saying The Shield should be inducted, but considering there are people in there that probably never had a single match as good as some of the matches The Shield have already put on, it isn’t so right to completely trash this question

    • Jimmy

It’s pretty funny to me aswell, I think if anything we should first see how long their momentum continues once they’ve split.

  • Smarky Smark

Wyatt’s should be inducted. Alex Rodriguez also because he attended WM and that should be enough to put him in.

  • Jbreed

Well with Batista coming back there’s even less room in the main event for Dolph Ziggler or any other deserving young star.

    • Danny_Boy

Problem is, Dolph isn’t deserving of anything in the least.

      • JR Texx (Jamie)

Yes he is, WWE just missed the chance to push him.

    • JR Texx (Jamie)

I have a feeling if they do make Batista the WWE World Heavyweight Champion it will be to put someone else over. I don’t see how Batista being WWE World Heavyweight Champion being “best for business”

      • Jbreed

I doubt Batista is gonna come back to put anybody over. And let’s remember Batista is one of Triple H’s boys. Look at Randy Orton. He’s once again the number 2 guy in the WWE since Triple H has been given more power in the company. It’s mid to late 2000’s all over again in the WWE. Batista, John Cena and Randy Orton ain’t going anywhere and all this stuff we hear about Daniel Bryan and Roman Reigns and whoever else being the next big stars of the WWE is a bunch of crap. We’ve been hearing the same bullshit for at least the past 7 years and after all these years the WWE still revolves around the same guys. The WWE continues to refuse to create new stars. And before people start trying to prove me wrong here’s an example for you, The guys who main evented way back at WM 22 are the same guys who are gonna be main eventing WM 30 8 years later.

        • Jimmy

So was Daniel Bryan going over Cena, going over Orton, being in the main event on Raw, SD and PPVs week in and week out a bunch of crap as well? They were testing the waters to see how well they would fair with Bryan as the main man while Cena was injured and I think its pretty certain that when Cena goes, Bryan is taking his place.

          • Jbreed

Well, first of all Daniel Bryan went over John Cena only because Cena was going to be out with an injury. Secondly, when exactly did Randy Orton put Bryan over? I’m not gonna assume you’re one of those peole who think just as long as a guy is involved in a program with a top guy than he’s automatically put over, but the last time I checked Bryan came out as the loser. So to answer your question, the whole Bryan push was a bunch of crap. You don’t just test the waters with a guy as over with the fans as Bryan is just to see if he’s good enough to be the face of the company whenever John Cena decides to retire. You give him the ball and let him run with it. He’s been the WWE’s hottest commodity and the way it usually works is you go with the hot hand. But instead while Bryan goes from the main event to putting over a bunch of rookies, the guy who gets “you suck” chants and the guy who gets “boring” chants are the ones who are fighting in the main event for the world titles

          • Bob’s Diner

Not to mention, if they go through with this whole angle of Daniel Bryan joining the Wyatts, then that would make him heel. So that would be taking their biggest face and having him become some henchman in a midcard heel group.

Meanwhile, Batista will most likely be coming back so we can have that same foursome at the top of the card again for another few years.

Hilarious that people get all ‘I can’t wait for HHH to take over’ when this is the result of his promotion; Kliq 2.1 taking over yet again

          • Bob’s Diner

Cena isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. Daniel Bryan and Randy Orton are only a couple of years younger, so their careers will most likely have similar lengths. ‘Testing the waters’ is a load of garbage. You either push someone or you don’t – especially when they are probably the most over wrestler of the last few years.

  • Harlie Boucher

Sucks that JoJo is getting the short end of the stick. She is WAY better than Eve Marie.

  • Jimmy

    WM matches should be:
    Undertaker vs John Cena
    CM Punk vs Randy Orton
    Triple H vs Daniel Bryan
    Brock Lesnar vs Batista

    • JR Texx (Jamie)

      Lesnar V Undertaker
      Hunter V Batista
      Bryan V Cena
      Punk V Orton

      • Jimmy

That’s a nice line up too, I would of said the same but given that we’ve already seen Cena v Bryan and the fact that Lesnar and Taker actually hater each other, the odds are slim.

  • Mart Twain

The Shield for the HoF already? So far they haven’t even reached the upper level of great tag teams or factions. When they get to a point of putting on matches like the Horsemen, Rock & Roll Express, the Assassins, the Fabulous Ones, Freebirds, the Andersons or Steiners, Road Warriors, British Bulldogs, Road Warriors, Briscoes, Funks, Beer Money, Samoans, etc. then at that point someone can mention the HoF with these guys.
They are good performers, but great? Not yet.

  • Mr. Gray

Richard, you’ve taken the last 10 days off from Ask WNW. What’s another few days off? SLACKER!!!!!!

  • Stoney

I don’t understand how Vince doesn’t see Dolph as a main eventer. He’s someone that has the whole package (look, mic skills, charisma and in ring skills). I get sick of Vince forcing people on us that no one cares about ie Del Rio and Ryback

  • Charles

    Tammy Lynn (Sunny) Sytch?
    Koko B. Ware?
    Drew Carey?
Why the hell not the Shield?

    • Bob’s Diner

Exactly – guys on here always go on about people being Hall of Fame worthy because they had long careers of 5 star matches, or dedicated their career to the WWE blah blah blah. But those people you just mentioned prove that anyone can get in the WWE Hall of Fame.

    • JR Texx (Jamie)

I don’t know about KoKo B Ware but Sunny was the first Diva, which was mentioned alot, and Drew Carey is in the celebrity wing which was also said alot.. so they’re different to The Shield..

  • Tim

All I know is Renee is more better looking than just about all the divas.
