Report: Daniel Bryan Downgraded, Not Able To Work Money In The Bank

Shares 0

Daniel Bryan has reportedly been downgraded and is out for WWE Money in the Bank later this month. This according to a new report by

If the report is true (and I believe it is), a new champion will be crowned in the Money in the Bank ladder match.

The storyline and legitimate plan were intertwined as the plan was for Bryan to defend the title in a Stretcher Match against Kane at the pay-per-view if he was medically cleared. If not, the title would be vacated and a new champion would be crowned in the show's main event.

A timetable wasn't put in place for Bryan's return because one does not exist.

WWE Money in the Bank 2014 will take place Sunday, June 29, 2014 at the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts. We’ll have complete coverage here at

Bryan’s first and last WWE WHC reign. 🙁

    • David F

I blame Vince for terrible Bryan feud with Kane post Wrestlemania. Its time for Vince to go and Triple H to step in

    • Andrew

Unfortunately yup 🙁 he will never get the titles backs because the wwe don’t believe in him

  • John

They never believed in him anyway, the booking since WrestleMania proved that.

    • Richard

What booking? He got married 5 days after wrestlemania then his dad died then he had neck surgery.

      • John

He defended the title against Kane on his first PPV as champion… Then he was made to look scared by running away from Kane on RAW. They didn’t want Bryan as champion in the first place, and they are showing it.

  • BIG M

    Well this sucks.

  • Avalanchian

I look for it to be Orton or HHH honestly.

    • JR Texx (Jamie)

Nah if it was someone from Evolution it would have been Batista, and he’s gone.

As an embarrassingly large Bryan mark, I’m not too beat up over this.

    1. I want him to get as much rest as possible, and not risk rushing back, working hurt, and potentially shortening his career.
    2. Within kayfabe, it makes sense for Bryan to lose the title if he can’t compete for this long. We’re always clamoring for consistency with WWE storylines, so we can’t want the rules bent just because we like the guy.
    3. As amazing as his WrestleMania victory was, his current character works much better chasing the title.
    4. Bryan cannot be “buried” after this run. WWE knows that the crowd won’t allow it, and they clearly don’t want to bury him either. They see that there’s money in him now. It took them a long time to see that, but they clearly, absolutely see that now. He’s the 1B under Cena now that Punk’s gone.
    5. Since Bryan will 100% be champion again after this, I’m willing to wait for a fresh angle while Bryan rests instead of rushing him back for more of a dreadfully boring and embarrassing angle with Kane.
    6. Anyone thinking WWE doesn’t have a huge amount of faith in Bryan is misguided. If they didn’t have faith in Bryan, they wouldn’t have made him the star of a milestone WrestleMania (except for maybe Lesnar in hindsight, the show was about Bryan more than anyone). If they didn’t have faith in him, they would have stripped him of the title immediately instead of dragging this storyline out. This title run, while underwhelming and plagued with bad luck, is a far cry from runs like CM Punk’s first title run after cashing in MITB, where they didn’t have him main eventing shows, got the title off of him in a match he wasn’t even in, and clearly didn’t see him as a top guy.

I totally agree that they’re not booking him ideally, and after receiving what was possibly the biggest rub a wrestler can get aside from breaking the streak (in defeating Triple H, Orton, and Batista in the same night while injured to win the top title), he should be booked much more credibly. However, to think Bryan hasn’t won over the majority of his critics backstage is silly. He’ll probably always have to fight the “eternal underdog” stigma, but he’s got an unbelievable amount of faith from WWE. This is coming from a guy who’s been frustrated for years over WWE not pushing Bryan. He’s safe, you guys. I promise.

Split the Titles! Let Someone from Evolution get the WWE title, and let Cesaro get the WHC title. Like let cesaro climb first but he only able to grab one title, continue the match then later in the match have Rollins or Orton (whichever is in the match) climb and grab the wwe title

    • Bob’s Diner

Someone from Evolution? Like Orton or HHH? Because they reeeaaally need another title run…

      • JR Texx (Jamie)

It shouldn’t anyone from Evolution, It’s too soon for Rollins to be holding a singles title, and Orton and HHH don’t need it, they’re already high up the “food chain”.

I’d say Bray Wyatt, split him up from the other two, and have push Bray to the friggin moon, or Sheamus as a heel to get him back in the title picture.

        • Bob’s Diner

I think they have some good options and I totally agree it is too early for Rollins, as awesome as he is. Him feuding with Ambrose and Reigns should be his focus right now.

I bet Batista is regretting leaving now – he would have been a shoe-in for it!

          • JR Texx (Jamie)

The storyline probably wouldn’t be the same if Batista had stayed, probably would have been a third Evolution V The Shield, you know what WWE are like when they get a decent storyline, they run in it into the ground. Hard.

    • T-Zone

I like that idea, but if Bray doesn’t take advantage of that opportunity, someone else will need to take the titles down.

  • Seth

The titles I don’t give a damn about compared to the health of one of the best performers going right now. Don’t pressure him to come back at all. Let him take his time…heal up properly and then when he can return…let him do so. Health is top priority.

  • Bob’s Diner

Stephanie McMahon will win the titles. We haven’t had a McMahon as world champion for a few years now
