Ric Flair & Others Return To WWE, Latest Update On Flair's Situation

Ric Flair returned to WWE on this week's Raw, presenting John Cena with the "Superstar of the Year" Slammy Award and getting into a confrontation with CM Punk and then The Shield.  After this, Flair appeared in a backstage segment with Team Hell No when Ron Simmons made a cameo.

This comes after cameos from The Boogeyman and The New Age Outlaws. Boogeyman appeared as Booker T was handing out the "Tell Me I Didn't Just See That" Slammy to Kofi Kingston and the Outlaws handed out the "Comeback of the Year" Slammy to Jerry Lawler. Both Road Dogg and Billy Gunn are employed by WWE.

As of this writing I haven't heard anything regarding Flair's contract status but this hasn't exactly been a secret. Flair has been trying to return to WWE since May with the ongoing litigation filed by TNA Wrestling blocking a contract from getting signed. He had told friends that if the litigation wasn't settled soon, they would "get creative" to bring him back. While Flair hasn't been under TNA contract since September, WWE has shied away from hiring anyone that worked for TNA while Brian Wittenstein was employed there.

Flair's daughter, Ashley, is currently under a WWE developmental contract.

Quick question: Why did Flair go too TNA in the 1st place?

    • Kleck

They had money to give him.

I know the WWE is being blocked from hiring any TNA wrestlers right now, but why is it that Flair can't work for the WWE without a contract? Why is it that Flair can't be on WWE TV without getting specifically paid for his air time? There's ways of getting around these things, and I've been wondering how long it would take for them to try skirting the letter of the law.

I thought Flair came off better than he has in a very long time. Looks like the WWE agrees with him.

@Kendra i remember when you used to shit on flairs house to get off TV and shit when he was in TNA, but now that hes in the E hes god

Does this mean wwe may rehire the boogeyman? Or was it just a cameo for the segment?

  • TheJoker

Wow, when TNA signs a former wwe wrestler the wwe fanatics get all up on the TNA board and blast them for hiring has beens. Now wwe has booker, Nash, road dog, billy gun and flair but I’m guessing that’s a good wwe move. Lol

But none of the names you mentioned are dominating the high mid card/main event scene, when TNA has Jeff Hardy, Mr. Anderson, Devon, Bully Ray, Doc etc

OMG not only is the relic, (Rick Flair), back on WWE, not only shoved in our faces on Multiple segments, he is even hinting about returning to the ring? Everyone has to ask themselves, when is enough, enough?!! I am 50 years old and evryone who knows me, tells me that l am the fittest 50 year old they have ever met, I am an ex brawler from way back, but even I know my body just can't TAKE fighting anymore, torn muscles, etc. Rick, your older than l am, be seen on tv by all means, but NOT as a fighter, wrestling has a hard enough time making it "look real" without a geriatric trying to be shown as a "winner" amongst men half his age
