Ricardo Rodriguez Suspended For 30 Days Following WWE Wellness Policy Violation

WWE announced on Tuesday morning that Ricardo Rodriguez, real name Jesús Rodríguez, has been suspended for 30 days for his first violation of the company’s Wellness Policy.  Below is the official statement posted here on WWE’s corporate website:

STAMFORD, Conn., July 2, 2013 – In accordance with its Talent Wellness Program, WWE (NYSE:WWE) has suspended Jesús Rodríguez (Ricardo Rodriguez) for 30 days effective immediately for his first violation of the company’s policy.

Rodriguez was notably absent from this week’s Monday Night Raw where Dolph Ziggler’s “attack” on him from last week’s Smackdown was used as the kayfabe explanation.

Gotta say this totally caught me off guard, wouldn’t have expected this

    • Moe

I’m with you on that one.

  • Adam

    What for?

  • AK-1138

Well, gee… who’s next? Michael Cole? King? Hornswoggle?

  • Jorge Antonio Pérez González

Come on! Guys like Randy Orton take anastrozole and a bunch more of steroids and everytihng is fine. Jack Swagger takes drugs and is forgiven, but poor Chimaera is suspended by a Wellness Policy´s violation… Who is going to be the next suspended? Teddy Long? Zeb Colter? Jajajaja.

    • Razmos

      Orton was suspended!!

      • Jorge Antonio Pérez González

I know Razmos. I didn´t extend my message but I was referring to the fact he has not been suspended all the times he deserves… For example, after Chris Benoit´s terrorific double murder-suicide, when the WWE begun with a dark era (times of accusations of preescriptions and steroids from superstars) many got punished… Booker T got punished. But, Batista, Orton and Mysterio did not… What I mean is that I think WWE is not fair with their talent.

Hasn’t Orton been suspended twice now for the wellness policy? I know he was suspended another time for like misconduct but he’s definitely been suspended at least once (and it’s pretty recent as well) for the wellness policy

      • Jorge Antonio Pérez González

I know Alex. I answered before. The thing is, I did not write too much in the first message because of time.

    • Alain Labatos

Now hold on a minute playa.before Teddy gets Suspended,he will put himself in a Tag Team match with Orton against Swagger and Colter.

      • Jorge Antonio Pérez González

        Jajajaja. That´s a good one.

Now ADR will start getting an even worse reaction since whatever heat he got was because of Ricardo. I think wwe should think of turning tons of funk and having tensai and Brudus be ADRs enforcers.

Double standard anyone? Thwagger admits it, goes to court – nothing happens. Rodriguez gets caught and suspended. Hate to tell you WWE – could be looking at discrimination lawsuits!

    • jdl

WWE does not suspend for pot use.

      • Benji

Didnt Evan Bourne and R truth get suspended for using synthetic marijuana?

        • http://www.facebook.com/WrestlingRoundupRadio Joshua Tucker

Yes, but they don’t for the real thing. They just fine the wrestler.

        • BlazeKing

That stuff is called either Spice or K2; and it could kill you. That’s why they get suspended for it. I think Ricardo was smoking it. No way he felt the need to juice (steroids, the go to comment for most suspensions).

  • K!NG

thats what happens when u fail a drug test… but if i did that at my job id be fired

  • HazMatt23

Gotta juice up to carry that bucket around

  • Zeb Colter

I tried to warn you all…WE…THE PEOPLE!!!

  • Brandon van Reenen

    “I was smokiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnngggggg…. a DEL CRACK PIPE!!!!! Da da, da-da-da, da da-da da da-da da, da-da-da!

  • Tristeza

I didn’t know twinkies were on the list.

  • Kenneth

Considering how long the wellness policy has been in place now you’d think these fools would have more sense. Is a quick high or two really worth risking your job over?

  • Dave Barton

I hear Swagger spiked his drink, trying to get him deported…classic Swags.

  • Smart Mark

Say goodbye to Albertio Del Rio’s reaction magnet.

  • Mohan Ramnath

this is just funny – didnt expect him with this, we gotta watch teddy long now

  • jdl

Apparently he may have been suspended for drugs use for weight loss. A strange thing to suspend someone for, but I can understand it, a lot of the drugs used for cutting weight are pretty dangerous to your health.

  • Stoney

Del Rio is gonna be hearing crickets for the next 30 days everytime he comes out to the ring

  • Streamz

I knew it! There’s no way he could draw out the last syllable of ‘Alberto’ for that long without the use of announcement-enhancing drugs.
