Ricardo Rodriguez Works As El Lo Cal On WWE Saturday Morning Slam

Richard Gray September 26, 2012 WWE News 19 Comments

Ricardo Rodriguez worked this week’s WWE Saturday Morning Slam television taping under a mask as El Lo Cal. He faced Sin Cara in a match that is scheduled to air on this week’s telecast.

Rodriguez, who was born in California, was a regular on the state’s independent scene before being signed by WWE which is the reason for the nickname. As for WWE using him as a masked talent, Vince McMahon considers the Saturday morning audience of children a “merchandising dream” to market masks.

I'll have to actually watch this one. I want to see what Ricardo is really able to do in the ring.

    • Topherrulez

He should be pretty good, seeing how well sold with the brogue kick a couple of weeks ago.

  • Richard Gray

Everything I've seen from Ricardo in terms of his in-ring has been good.

    • PainOfDemise

I've heard nothing but good things about him and his in ring capability. I've just never seen for myself, but I'll get the chance to now.

  • Blazeking

Since profanity isn't allowed here, I guess I have to self-censor this:

    Ricardo wrestling?! F@#$%^&*&@%#^$ YEEEEEAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!

  • Alyssa

Was he wearing his Chimaera outfit or was it completely new?

  • Thumpa

I love how Ricardo pretends he can’t wrestle but in fact he’s really good and he takes the bumps all well! But I hope he continues be ADR’s ring announcer because I just love to hear this….Dammas y caballeros es mi honor de apresentar para todos os teles el hombre que ira a ganar lo campeonato de peso completo. El es la excencia de excellecia YYYY EL ORGULLO DE MEHHEECO…el es…AAALLBERRTOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO….DEELLLLLLLLLL…..RIIOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I love that!!!!

    • Richie

Excellent job sir! I love the intro, just don’t like ADR.

    • WNW FAN

Could anyone translate that into English? I've always wondered what the translation is.

  • CaliburUK

I saw a video of him hitting a corkscrew Phoenix splash from the 2nd rope in FCW so based on that I’m assuming he moves well for a guy that size

  • Dave Barton

No one else has said it yet, so I will. Anyone think they're getting Ricardo ready to move in as a wrestler in case they let ADR go? You know, letting him work off the ring rust since they're still high up on Ricardo?

  • Jay

Hey does Saturday Morning Slam air in Canada? If so at what time? Might be worth watching to see Ricardo in action.

    • woolf

i believe channel 14 on the cw at 10 am

  • JamieSNZ

Please tell me he was wearing his Tux.

  • Angelica

He was not wearing his tux. He was in all red. The adult crowd including myself started chanting Ricardo after we saw his tattoos haha!

  • Chris H

Has this been shown on tv?

You said "He faced Sin Cara in a match that is scheduled to air on this week’s telecast." but that week was Santino and Slater, this week was McGillicutty and Rey.
