Yay another blast from the past stealing a wrestlemania spot. But to be fair aside from 3MB the majority of the lower card acts work mainly live events and C shows if they’re lucky. Maybe once a year they make a cameo to be fed to someone like Ryder.

    • JR Texx (Jamie)

at what point will RVD be “stealing” a wrestlemania spot?

The only thing I can thing of for RVD at Wrestlemania is to put him in a MITB match.. only really to help make it look more interesting.

      • Venom

I think we’ve already established my view the past few weeks. In my a opinion a wrestlemania is supposed to be a reward for the hard work you put in the year. Undertaker is the only exception to the rule because I think 80% of people only care about him defending the streak.

I’m an RVD fan. I’m also a Christian fan. But I feel it would be hypocritical of me if I say they deserve to be on wrestlemania when I criticise someone like Batista and other part timers come in for the one big payday. I know Batista has a 2 year deal but I’ve said my views in him headlining.

I did however, say that when I think about it the guys who arnt going to be on the show barely wrestle on RAW or SmackDown anyways. The rest work C shows and live events with no storyline as if they’re not even on the roster.

        • John

Since when would Christian not deserve to be on the Wrestlemania? Last time I checked he’s not a part timer, yes he has been struck down with injuries but is still one of hardest and best workers on the roster.

          • Venom

I’m not disagreeing with you in that. You have no idea how disappointed I was when he had a really short WHC reign.

But I’m saying in the terms of someone for being out of action for the past year only to come back for wrestlemania isn’t fair to the rest. It’s inemofmthe reasons why i roll my eyes anytime I read how Rey Mysterio pitches ideas for wrestlemania when he’s not healthy enough all year.

Because by the way you talked about Christian, then the part timers who come in also worked hard as they wernt lazy during there time away from the company and are still in great shape. Cause nobody can deny Batista or Chris Jericho are in great shape for their age and while they were gone from the company were still active doing other ventures.

I get the feeling Christian ended up in the elimination chamber because of Punk walking out.

          • Venom

I doubt it as I heard the original plan was for Punk to put over Cesaro on raw in a qualifying match. But after what happened at the rumble there were rewrites at the last minute which pushed that inch for smackdown. But then Punk and Vince had that meeting and he ended up walking out so Zoggler replaced Punk on smackdown. I heard it was supposed to be Kane costing him the match so they face off at elimination chamber.

          • opie

I could see that, but not if they were flipping the script and planning Punk v. Kane for WM. That just doesn’t seem likely.

          • Venom

Yeah. I mean they’re all rumors so we don’t know 100% since no sides are talking about it.

          • opie

            True.

          • Nostaljack

He’s never there, that’s how. He shows up, does a few things, gets injured, and is on the shelf for months at a time. I just can’t figure out why he’s viewed as important. He’s not in a feud with anyone and I fear his time has passed. I don’t wish failure on anyone but this last run with WWE has been incredibly underwhelming.

          • Xavier

Christian, RVD & Jericho’s last runs in the WWE were epic failures.

          • Nostaljack

Truth. ‘Course, Jericho was there to put people over. That part was a failure. RVD is a fantastic worker but the feud with Alberto Del Midcard didn’t generate the buzz I hoped it would. Christian simply hasn’t been healthy long enough. He’s become what Kennedy was accused of being before WWE let him go. He’ll show up and before I can even begin to care, he gets injured and he’s gone.

          • Xavier

Well I wouldn’t quite compare Christian to Kennedy. Kennedy not only was injury prone but he was a very dangerous worker as well that often botched and injured others and then on top of that he was known to have a really bad attitude as well. Kennedy was really just a smaller version of Ryback in a lot of ways.

          • Nostaljack

If Kennedy were that injury-prone, wouldn’t that have reared it’s head in TNA? As far as I know, he’s been pretty healthy there, no? I confess to having lapsed a bit in my viewing at the point that Kennedy was in WWE so I don’t totally have the scoop on him. I watched TNA regularly when he started in TNA and he was absolutely fabulous! He was great on the mic and very good in the ring too.

          • Xavier

I haven’t really followed TNA since 06 so I’ll take your word for it. I was just speaking on his time in WWE. He had run ins with Cena, Orton, Michaels, Triple H, Guerrero, Taker and few others in the back over blown spots. I also read reports about Kennedy that he had a bad attitude as well when he was with the WWE. He also got suspended a time or two for failing a drug test. He was suppose to be McMahon’s son in that fraternity angle in 07 but he messed that up by failing a drug test and getting suspended. He also missed a lot of time in the WWE due to injuries

          • Nostaljack

Oh wow. Didn’t know any of that. No wonder he had to go. He seemed to have figured things out in TNA so that’s cool. I’m gonna watch as much of “Impact” tonight as I can (I’m home on Thursday for once) so we’ll see where that goes…LOL!

          • JR Texx (Jamie)

Jericho was putting people over though if I remember

          • Xavier

True. The problem with Jericho though is that he jobs so much now that it really doesn’t hardly mean much anymore. I remember when he put Fandango over at Mania, it just wasn’t a big deal at all. There’s a huge difference between Jericho putting someover and let’s say a guy like Cena, Taker or Triple H putting someone over.

          • JR Texx (Jamie)

Both Undertaker and Jericho always put people over, I think they just want to help for the future of the business, I mean Undertaker help put over the Shield, didn’t he even praise them backstage?

Jericho just likes to put people over, even though WWE doesn’t seem to want to capitalize on that

      • opie

I’m almost 100% certain there won’t be a MITB match at Mania. It wouldn’t make sense to sacrifice a PPV concept (Network or no) for one match on a card that doesn’t really need it. Ergo, RVD can kindly stay home and watch.

        • JR Texx (Jamie)

All the more reason to have a MITB at ‘mania again and not it’s own PPV ;)

          • opie

I don’t really understand what you mean. I did always like the MITB match at Mania, though…

          • JR Texx (Jamie)

Well I can’t see them having a whole PPV for one match, for one title. It would be better to have it at ‘mania to full a match spot, and give 6 guys a shot on the main stage.

          • Venom

I still wouldn’t mind seeing one at mania and one on its own ppv. They can do a “steal” angle where 2 different wrestlers are holding a briefcase for the one title shot. Then one can cash in and win it, then out of nowhere the other cashes in on the new champion.

    • Nostaljack

Yep, coming back for the pay day. Gotta love that.

  • Rus

For all the people saying his coming back for the payday and to take the spot light away from others, my question is, wouldn’t you???

  • super crazy

Rvd chants were second only to the yes chants. The crowd loves him. The orton rvd and christian triple threat back in the northen summer was an excellent example of top tier ring work and match psychology. rvd in a 20 min plus match at mania for a secondary title or maybe tagging with Rey has the potential to steal the show.

  • Lebron James

RVD was putting on some of the best matches of the year when he returned last year. Cant wait to see him return. Part timer or not, he gets the job done.
