Rob Van Dam On A Match Against Mick Foley Not Happening, Contract Status

Arda Ocal interviewed Rob Van Dam at the Cauliflower Alley Club Reunion this week in Las Vegas. He discussed being at WrestleCon over Wrestlemania 29 weekend and appearing at the 2013 WWE Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony.

RVD put over Bruno Sammartino and his story and talked about being there to support Booker T. The conversation shifted when Mick Foley was brought up as Van Dam said he doesn’t remember a Foley vs. RVD match and said one of them wasn’t ready for it. He said he wasn’t trying to take anything away from anyone but when Arda tried to get him to single out Foley’s induction, he put over the class by also mentioning Trish Stratus.

RVD said “anything is possible” regarding his contract status but said he had plans but is a skeptic by nature and until his name is not on the dotted line somewhere, it’s not for sure. RVD confirmed he hasn’t signed a contract with anyone but he couldn’t imagine going back to the same schedule he did before. He said a full-time schedule is not in his best interests.

Not interested in a full time schedule? Guess he’s going to be another guy wasting away at the Indy shows until he retires.

That or a TnA return ..

I’m sure he would but I doubt Vince will give him the same treatment

Maybe RVD can get a similar deal to Jericho’s….. I think he’d go for that

    • Matt

RVD won’t draw like Jericho would though.

Fair point but I don’t think anybody bought WrestleMania this year specifically to see Jericho vs Fandango

RVD would accel as well as Jericho. He has an excellent fan base. Remember when he showed up at the Raw 15th anniversary and Royal Rumble ’09? The crowd went nuts both times.. RVD is definitely still relevant and would make a great addition to a poor and lackluster WWE roster

I doubt Vince would give him that deal

I agree, but he’d be foolish not to. Its obvious his current roster cant draw by itself. Thats why he has to bring in “part-timers” for wrestlemania. Could you imagine how horrible wrestlemania will be in 5 years without any star powers. Truth be told, its pretty unwatchable within the last 5 years, due to in big part of going PG and people getting sick of Cena.
