Ring of Honor Results – (2/11/12)

Welcome to this week’s Ring of Honor! We are greeted by Kevin Kelly and Nigel Guinness speaking of the main event. The main event will be The ROH World Tag Team Champions The Briscoes taking on The House of Truth, where the winner will receive $5000. First, we will see some prerecorded comments from Kyle O’Reilly and Eddie Edwards.
Kyle says he doesn’t appreciate what Eddie Edwards has be saying of him and Davey Richards. Kyle thinks Edwards is bitter that Davey is more supportive of him as apposed to Eddie. Kyle is determined to make his mentor, Davey Richards, proud. Kyle says that Eddie shouldn’t think of Kyle as a side-kick because he will prove he is a better man than Eddie. Edwards says he thinks Kyle is still blinded by Davey. Eddie says he doesn’t care that Davey prefers Kyle more, but he doesn’t appreciate Kyle challenging Eddie. Edwards says that he will finally get his chance to knock some sense into Kyle.
O’Reilly makes his way to the ring. Edwards makes his way to the ring.
“Die Hard” Eddie Edwards vs. Kyle O’Reilly
The two shake hands, but keep stern eye contact. The bell rings and the two lock up. Edwards gets behind Kyle with a Waistlock, but Kyle gets Eddie’s arm. Kyle twists Edwards arm up, but Edwards hits a Side Headlock Takedown to Kyle. Kyle quickly rolls away from Eddie and the two stand off. They both lock up again, and Eddie once again locks in a Side Headlock Takedown to Kyle. Kyle locks in a Head Scissors to Eddie. Eddie quickly escapes and the two both get up. Kyle does a Side Headlock Takedown to Eddie and gets put in a Head Scissors by Die Hard. They both hit each other with a Dropkick. Edwards locks hands with Kyle and powers Kyle down to the mat. Kyle pushes himself back up and the two start trading headbutts. Kyle pushes Edwards into the ropes, and is forced to break. Kyle then kicks Eddie in the ribs. After, Kyle knees Edwards in the face and knocks him down to the mat. Kyle kicks a seated Edwards in the chest and pins. Kick out by Eddie. Kyle runs towards Eddie and hits a huge chop to Eddie in the corner. As Eddie runs towards Kyle, he kicks Edwards in the head. Kyle runs the ropes and Eddie follows. Eddie hits a Yakuza Kick to O’Reilly, forcing Kyle out of the ring. Eddie goes on the outside and gets Kyle back in the ring. Edwards locks in the Ankle Lock, one of Davey’s moves, to Kyle. Davey comes out to the ring, cheering on Kyle.
Kyle and Eddie are trading blows to each other in the middle of the ring. Eddie knocks down Kyle and kicks a fallen O’Reilly in the face. Eddie picks up Kyle and goes for a Suplex, but Edwards can’t lift Kyle up. Kyle then gets thrown over Eddie’s head, and they begin to trade blows. O’Reilly hits a Rolling Butterfly Suplex three times and locks in a Cross Arm Breaker. Eddie gets the ropes, and Kyle releases. Eddie goes from the top rope and hits a Codebreaker to Kyle. Eddie then picks Kyle up for a Suplex, but Kyle struggles, so they both fall out of the ring. Eddie goes to kick Kyle in the face, but Kyle ducks causing Edwards to kick the ring post. They get back in the ring as Edwards is in the corner. Kyle grabs Eddie’s injured leg and knees it. Kyle then hits a Dragon Screw to Eddie from the corner. Kyle is beating on Eddie’s injured knee, but Eddie breaks away from Kyle. Eddie rolls up Kyle, but his leg gives in. Eddie gets locked in the Ankle Lock, courtesy of Kyle. Adam Cole comes to the ring in favor for Eddie, distracting Kyle. Kyle, now talking on the outside gets dived on by Eddie. Eddie rolls Kyle back in the ring, as he gets on the apron. Eddie goes top rope and hits the Double Stomp to Kyle. Pin by Die Hard, but a kick out. The two competitors are trading forearms and chops in the middle of the ring. Kyle tries to sweep Eddie’s leg, but Edwards jumps up. Eddie Superkicks Kyle. Kyle then Superkicks Eddie. Eddie chops Kyle in the back of the head and pins, but a kick out. When they both get up, Kyle hits a Fisherman’s Suplex to Eddie and covers. Kick out at two, by Edwards. Eddie goes for a Powerbomb to Kyle, but Kyle locks in the Guillotine Choke. Eddie gets out of the hold and the two are trading pins. Eddie finally lands the pin on Kyle, winning the match.
Winner: “Die Hard” Eddie Edwards via pinfall
After the match, Kyle O’Reilly with Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards with Adam Cole are all in the ring. Eddie grabs a mic and says he no longer cares of Davey and Kyle as a team. Edwards convinced Cole that O’Reilly has left him for Davey. Edwards then asks Cole if he would become Eddie’s tag team partner. Cole agrees and shakes Eddie’s hand. Eddie then says that he and his new tag team partner are willing to challenge Team Ambition anytime.
We are back from commercials as we see Steve Corino joining Kevin Kelly and Nigel McGuinness at the announce desk. Corino will be a commentator, with Kevin Kelly, on some upcoming ROH DVD releases. Kevin asks Steve about his health after the Piledriver from Kevin Steen at Final Battle. Steve says he is recovering, but at a slow pace.
Mike Mondo makes his way to the ring for the next match. A local worker, Matt Taven, makes his way to the ring.
Mike Mondo vs. Matt Taven
The two shake hands and the bell rings. The two lock up, and Mike does a Side Headlock Takedown Matt. Matt then locks in a Head Scissor to Mondo. This combo is repeated 4 times, with the giver of the Takedown switched each time. Finally, the two stop and stand off. Matt pushes Mike, and locks in Mondo’s head with a Side Headlock. Matt flips over Mike’s head and rolls up Mondo for a cover. Kick out by Mondo. Mondo hits Taven in the face with a Forearm Smash and is staggered. Mondo runs the ropes and knocks down Matt with a Shoulder Block. Mondo hits a Dropkick to a seated Taven. Pin, but a kick out. Mondo gets a headlock, but Taven powers out. Taven runs from Mondo and hits a Moonsault from the middle rope.Taven takes down Mondo and pins. Kick out by Mondo. Mike trips Taven into the ropes as Mondo goes to knee Matt. Taven moves out of the way, causing Mondo to miss. Mondo turns away from the ropes, but is greeted by Matt with a Calf Kick. Pin but a kick out. Matt goes for a Diving Crossbody to Mike, but Mondo moves out of the way. Then, both men hit a Dropkick.
The match is interrupted by Kevin Steen as he makes his way to the ring. Steen says it’s ridiculous how these two have a match and he doesn’t. He understands it is not the wrestlers fault, and is rather glad to meet Matt Taven. Kevin says Matt, a “nobody,”is in the match for having the look. In fact, Steen calls Taven a “cutie pie.” Steen likes how the two shook hands, and wants to shake Taven’s. When the two shake hands, Matt is picked up and hit with the F5. Mondo is rather exited and is celebrating with Steen, but Mondo meets the same fate. He locks eye with Corino, who is still at the announce desk, as Steve is taking off his suit. He tries to get in the ring, but security stops Corino.
Winner: Matt Taven via disqualification
- Highlights of The Briscoes challenging WGTT. We also see Shelton Benjamin hitting Jay Briscoe in the head with a chair, causing him to be fined $5000.
- Haas and Benjamin mock The Briscoes and their fans. Shelton says he refuses to pay his fine, and dares ROH to sue them. Haas calls fans of The Briscoes losers and idiots.
- Jim Cornette says until Shelton Benjamin pays his fine, he will be suspended and won’t be able to compete.
- The Briscoes rebut what WGTT said, claiming the are the best because of their gold. They look forward to eventually getting their hands on Haas and Benjamin
The House of Truth make their way to the ring, getting ready to face The Briscoes in a non-title match. Strong and Elgin make their way to the ring, along with the magnificently dressed Truth Martini.
5K Dollar Match – The ROH World Tag Team Champions The Briscoes (Jay and Mark) vs. The House of Truth (Roderick Strong and “Unbreakable” Michael Elgin) w/ Truth Martini
The bell rings as Roderick immediately runs the ropes. Strong gets derailed with a kick from Mark. Strong knocks Jay of the apron as Elgin gets in the ring. The two beat on Mark, and try to hit a Double Suplex. Jay gets in the ring and knocks Elgin out. Mark and Jay both Lariat Strong in the corner, and kick him in the face. Mark Suplexes Strong and pins, but a kick out. Tag to Jay from Mark as Jay dropkicks Strong. Pin, but a kick out. Jay is in the corner stomping a mudhole in Roderick’s chest. Jay tags Mark as they both bulldoze over Strong. Cover by Mark, but a kick out. Mark has Strong in the corner as he is punching Roderick. Mark finishes his barrage of punches with a right hook to the face of Strong. Mark gets Strong in the other corner but Strong fights back. They trade blows as Strong throws Jay in the corner. Strong runs towards Jay, but Jay kicks Strong in the face. He crawls to the ropes and makes the tag to Elgin. Elgin picks up Jay and rams his back into Strong’s knees. Pin from Elgin, but a kick out. Elgin continues to beat on Jay, until he covers him. Pin, but a kick out. Blind tag to Jay from Mark as The Briscoes double team Elgin. Elgin get’s thrown in the corner, and kicked in the head from Jay. Elgin throws Mark to the apron and knocks him off with an elbow. Jay runs towards Elgin, but Michael elbows him away. When Elgin is walking out of the corner, Jay Dropkicks Elgin back in. Elgin is seated on the top rope as Mark throws Elgin off. Elgin is on the mat as Jay goes top rope. Jay hits a huge splash to Elgin and pins, but a kick out.
Jay hits a Jawbreaker to Elgin and throws Michael in the corner. Mark is tagged as Mark and Elgin start to brawl in the middle of the ring. Elgin throws Mark over his shoulder and Elgin hits a Spinning Sitout Side Slam to Mark. Elgin tags Strong. Strong and Mark are trading chops in the corner as Strong knees Mark. Elgin picks up Mark and Strong chops hit. Elgin then hits a Sideslam. Strong pins, but a kick out. Strong hits a Gutbuster to Jay, and Elgin hits a Lariat. Pin by Strong but a kick out. Strong puts Mark on the top rope, but Mark fights out. He floats over Strong and hits an Enziguri. Mark tags Jay as he is beating up Elgin and Strong. He Superkicks Strong and Lariats Elgin. He pins Strong but a kick out. Jay hits a Falcon Arrow and tags Mark. Mark then hits a splash to Strong. Pin, but Elgin stops the pin. Both teams are in the ring beating each other up. Martini throws powder in the eyes of Jay Briscoe as HOT beating up Mark. Jay leaves the arena and comes back with a Baseball Bat. He beats up HOT with the bat, as the two Briscoes remain in the ring.
Winners and $5000 richer: The House of Truth w/ Truth Martini via disqualification
Before HOT can receive their checks, Mark takes both as security comes to the ring. Mark and Jay are holding up the checks as the show ends.
