Rumor Roundup – Sting Signs WWE Contract, Undertaker & End Of The Streak

Sting Signed w/WWE?

There’s a new report making rounds that apparently originated from Dave Meltzer that claims Sting has signed a contract with WWE. I was told on Thursday a deal was done and it includes for Sting to work in the ring and make appearances, however, I was unable to confirm a start date.

I checked with another source and was told the deal had “been done for awhile,” it just hadn’t been signed, therefore reports claiming it had been signed were not surprising. I am working on more details including why a possible Sting vs. Undertaker isn’t completely history… at least not yet. I’ll have those details early next week.

As for the immediate future, Sting has independent commitments booked through June.

End of The Streak

Speaking of Undertaker, I’ve also been asked to address a report attributed to Dave Meltzer that Vince McMahon had to talk Undertaker in to giving the streak to Brock Lesnar.

I can tell you Undertaker desired a match with Brock Lesnar as far back as late 2010 and stated prior to his match against CM Punk at Wrestlemania 29 that he said he “wanted one more against Lesnar.” I can also tell you that Undertaker had control over his Wrestlemania match and had to sign off on every aspect before he would agree to work.

There had been issues in the past regarding Undertaker’s payout for the event, which had caused doubts regarding his status. So while it’s entirely possible Undertaker wasn’t “giddy” to hand over the streak, it wasn’t a situation where he was forced either.

In the words of Daniel Bryan yes yes yes yes yes yes yes

Good for Sting. He deserves a Wrestlmania match and a WWE run. It’s cool having all these greats under one roof. Makes for some mark out moments.

Seeing the streak broken was so unbelievable. It really didn’t matter that it was Brock just the fact that it had been broken. Only The Undertaker can finally put all questions about the streak ending to rest if and when he’s ready to talk about it. I really want to hear it in his own words. I’m still in shock and just want to rewind the clock as if it never happened. That’s just me and how passionate I am about the streak.

I’ll believe it when I see it. It seems like we get these confirmed reports of Sting signing with the WWE every year dating back to 2002.

Unlike past years, however, he is finished with TNA.

I hope so. I remember a story breaking around 02 that Sting was pretty much signed with the WWE and was slated for a match with Angle at WM18, he eventually backed out of the deal and showed up in TNA. I wouldn’t be surprised if he showed up in Jarrett ‘s promotion. I’ve always gotten this vibe from Sting that he really takes pride in being pretty much the only guy to make it big in the wrestling industry having never worked for Vince

While it still sucks, I’ve started looking at The Streak being broke as a Hogan/Andre deal. Andre was billed as “undefeated” going up against Hogan, he let Hogan have the win and get the rub as his friend and knowing his time was nearing an end. There are other people I think would have benefited more from the win, but if Undertaker chose to put over a friend, that’s his choice.

you cant compare the two, hogan is a full time wrestler, lesnar is there as a part timer, cena would have been a better choice, even undertaker goin to a draw would have been better, me personally I thought dibiase’s kid would have been the best choice, since the million dollar man brought in Undertaker

I have absolutely no interest in seeing Sting in WWE now that the streak is over
