Rumors Suggest Sting Has Signed With WWE

Shares 0

Rob Feinstein, who co-founded Ring of Honor with Gabe Sapolsky and runs, wrote on Facebook on Tuesday afternoon that he heard Sting signed a deal with WWE in the last 24 hours. Below is his post in its entirety:

I was just informed Sting has signed a deal with WWE in the last 24 hours. I still think personally he will show up after Mania since it seems like Undertaker vs Brock is what they are aiming for. Reminds me when everyone thought Brock would debut in Miami but they waited for Raw

This brought out the speculation with people claiming it's a Legend's Contract with limited appearances, etc. At this point I cannot independently confirm a deal has been signed. What I can report is that WWE has interest in Sting and a deal was his if he wanted it. TNA Wrestling has been working for more than a month to re-sign him and that deal was also believed to be there if he wanted it.

I've answered everyone that has asked me about Sting in that the ball is in his court and wherever he goes, it will ultimately be his decision.

4:45 PM EST January 28, 2014 Update: I checked with one of my lead sources and am still unable to independently confirm the deal. However, my source agrees with me in that Feinstein knows enough people where this isn't some type egregious claim. The last my source heard was Sting was leaning towards accepting a WWE offer but hadn't signed yet. However, that could have obviously changed at a moment's notice. End update.

If that’s the case then will he be the next inductee into the Hall Of Fame? I’d love too see Sting inducted but I still have ZERO interest in seeing Sting fight Taker at Mania. I’ll take Cena/Taker or Bryan/Taker at Mania everyday of the week.

    • Bob’s Diner

Didn’t Jake Roberts have beef with Sting at some point too? I remember him saying something about how Sting only drew when he wasn’t talking… I could be wrong, but would that mean we could get a whole Hall of Fame class that have issues? That would be entertaining

  • Draven

Oh man if this is true and sting vs taker really does happen i would mark out so much they are my two favorites of all time their match would be my rock vs hogan.

  • Andy Singh

About 15 years too late but would be cool to see Sting in a WWE ring. With regards to WM30, it has to be Taker/Bryan

  • jdl

Sting vs. Taker should have happened over a decade ago, to see it in this day and age does not have the same impact as it would otherwise have. Unless, of course, they paint it as the final stand of the two macabre, mysterious characters of the era. The Phenom vs. the Icon in their first and last encounter in the WWE on the grandest stage of them all with a Hall of Fame induction for both of them the night before. No matter the results of the match they both retire when the match ends. It would be a sight to see, and really the only way to make the match truly interesting.

    • Rambo Commander

Sting and Taker are both going to be leaders of their respective HoF classes, so obviously they will not be inducted together, kid.

  • Bob’s Diner

He should have signed with Chikara. Him against the Estonian Thunderfrog would be a dream matchup

    • opie

You just officially became my favorite person here.

  • Tim

We don’t need Brock vs taker. Brock should go against Batista, cena and orton at mania. In a elimination match like wm2000

    • Bob’s Diner

Did you not hear the crowd at Royal Rumble? They didn’t sound too interested in Orton or Cena – and especially not Batista. Multiply that crowd reaction by 5 and that would be your WrestleMania. I would get a good laugh, but entertaining a clown like me probably isn’t the best business decision

      • opie

The only way the crowd would react is if Brock just destroyed the other three. He might literally have to set one of them on fire just to get the fans interested.

        • Bob’s Diner

Literally laughing out loud at the thought of of Brock Lesnar knocking them out, piling them on top of each other and then setting them on fire while the crowd chants “Thank you, Brock!”

You too are now my favourite person here

    • Eddie Edwards

I posted this idea the other day and I’d be interested in it. Cena is probably going to face Bray Wyatt.. Then have Bryan vs HHH and if Bryan wins he get a title shot at Extreme Rules (which is in his hometown).

      Orton vs Lesnar vs Batista
      Bryan vs HHH
      Undertaker vs Sting

      • opie

Since Punk vs. Bryan for the belt isn’t really on the table, there’s not one good (legitimate) possibility for the main event. I’d like Bryan vs. Triple H, as I think it makes way for a more compelling story than Hunter vs. Punk.

      • Bob’s Diner

Just add in CM Punk vs Sheamus and CONGRATULATIONS! You have successfully fantasy-booked the lamest WrestleMania in history!

At least the crowd would have time to think of numerous chants to make the 4 hours pass without killing themselves

        • Rambo Commander

Why would that happen in Undertaker vs Sting? It would be like Taker vs Shawn Michaels.

          • Bob’s Diner

I love the Stinger, but in no way can he go in the ring at that level any more. I would challenge you to watch some TNA to prove my point, but that would involve someone watching TNA and I am not that horrible

  • Ant_C

I was kind of hoping sting would not go to WWE. Just so he can be one of the only greats to never step foot in a wwe/f ring. Don’t get me wrong I don’t have a problem with WWE but he could have been the last great “household name,” to never step foot in a WWE ring and that is quite a feat. Probably the only one that could have claimed staked such a claim in the past 30 years.

  • Alex P

I’ve seen Brock/Taker enough in the early 2000’s….I would commit to the six months of the WWE network if they did Taker/Sting at Wrestlemania!

    • LeBron James

I agree. That’s the same reason why I don’t wanna see Punk/Bryan ever again. I’ve seen enough of that in the Indies and in 2012

      • opie

I’m not saying that I’m clamoring for Punk/Bryan vol.63, but it’s the best legitimate scenario for a WM main event (of course, by “legitimate” I don’t mean remotely possible — just that they’re both main event guys and that said matchup > any combination of Orton/Cena/Batista/Lesnar).

      • monty

stop hating man and stop trolling

DB vs Punk in a 30 minutes iron match will be a dream come true(would prefer 60 minutes but WM is so big i don’t think we will ever see a 60 minutes match at WM)

        • Mysterion

          WrestleMania 12. You’re welcome.

          • monty

            read my comment again

i know hbk vs hart i was saying we will never see it again because WM is so big now

          • Yea Dats Kenny

            It was big ‘then’ too….

  • Harlie Boucher

I will be happy to see Sting in a WWE ring, but honestly, at this point in his career, I don’t see him being able to go toe to toe with the Undertaker. Undertaker can still go at a high level for his one match a year, but I’ve been watching Sting, and it has really shown in his work that he is getting older.

    • dean

It will be great to see MIDDLE AGED STEVE BORDEN finally “sell-out” to the MAN, THE “REAL LIFE 500 million dollar man VINCENT KENNEDY MCMAHON.
wwe OWNS wcw and now McMahon will OWN wcw’s franchise, the so-called “rassling icon” sting.

      • Rambo Commander

  • Eddie Edwards

If this is true I’m so pumped. Better late then never.

  • Charlie

Well he unfollowed Dixie Carter on twitter if that says anything

    • Bob’s Diner

People follow Dixie Carter on twitter?

  • opie

For your consideration: let’s say this means Taker vs. Sting at WM. Cool story, but where exactly does that leave Brock? Is there anyone left who can put on a match with that guy that tells a story worthy of Wrestlemania? We’ve already done the Triple H thing and the Cena thing. NO ONE wants to see him against Orton or Batista. What’s left? Don’t just name names. What’s a compelling story for Brock Lesnar that would meet a satisfying end at WM?

    • Jimmy

Most likely he will end up facing Batista in a title feud.

      • opie

I would call that the best possible story for Brock at WM, but the word “best” is the superlative of “good”, and there’s nothing good about Brock vs. Batista for the WHC at WM.

    • Smexy “JAY” Shuffle

      Shamus Vs Brock Lesner!!!

    • Bob’s Diner

The best ‘story’ would be for him to be used by The Authority as their last ditch effort to silence Daniel Bryan. You could set it up at Elimination Chamber quite easily, too.

The downside is that would most likely lead to a main event of Orton vs Batista vs Sheamus, which would in turn lead to about 70,000 people leaving before the main event. Though they could plan for that in advance and call it an ‘Empty Arena Match’

  • iamjohnnymcb

    Wwe could live without sting

They could’ve make this as the wm30 card

Daniel bryan vs batista vs randy orton
    Cm punk vs hhh
    John cena vs undertaker
The shield vs the wyatt family
Tag team turmoil match for the tag team titles: the brotherhood vs nao vs real americans vs the usos vs rey mysterio & sin cara vs rybaxel vs 3mb vs los matadores
Big e langston vs damien sandow vs fandango vs dolph ziggler (assuming they will unify the intercontinental and the us championship at elimination chamber)
Brock lesnar vs ??? (Seriously i cannot think of someone to go against lesnar)

The divas can have the wm kickoff show

    • Carol

Why not Brock Lesnar vs Bill Goldberg or perhaps give another shot to Mark Henry or Big Show. Brock hasn’t beaten either man straight up.

  • monty

i want sting to face taker at WM30

True Wrestling Icon vs icon match. Also i want a sting Bluray-dvd of his Career. Since his career has been quite long i am fully expecting a Volume 1-2 and maybe even 3

  • monty

    Batista vs Orton
    Sting vs Taker
DB vs Brock Lesnar as the last effort to shut DB up
or DB vs HBK since that storyline is also there
    Cena vs Wyat
    Cm.Punk vs HHH
    Cm.Punk vs Kane
CM.Punk vs Sheamus but only if Sheamus turns heal and joins Authority
    Cody vs Goldust

  • jimmy snuka

Sting is gonna end the streak, mark my words. Quote the raven evermore!!!
