Ryback Shoots On The Internet, Wants To End The Streak, Rubs Abu Dhabi Media The Wrong Way?

Ryback did an interview with local media in Abu Dhabi this week to promote WWE’s current tour. My interest in the interview was heightened because I was told that Ryback was “not really up to doing media” for anyone in Abu Dhabi. I listened through twice and compiled the following highlights:

  • Ryback said that Paul Heyman was going to help bring him to the next level and while it’s something that would have happened on its own anyways, having Heyman with him may speed up the process a little. He said he loves having Heyman around him.
  • When asked about his dream opponent for Wrestlemania XXX, Ryback said that a lot of people put a little too much credit in the Internet. He said it’s run by a lot of negative people that should not have an opinion, according to him. Ryback said a lot of “them” have no clue how to live life. If he could pick one opponent for Wrestlemania it would be The Undertaker because he wants to be the guy to end the streak. He likes getting people mad and pissed off and for every person that says he doesn’t deserve that or he can’t do that, he will prove them wrong… because “all of you” suck.
  • Ryback said growing up he loved Razor Ramon, British Bulldog, Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart. He said there was no one he didn’t like and he loved WWE. He said there was never a guy that he looked at that he hated. Another thing that blows him away about the business today is the fans can go on social media and complain about things.
  • When asked if he had any close friends in WWE, Ryback said he’s there to be his best and that he gets along with everyone very well. He said as far as guys he would consider friends, he’s kind of a lone wolf but he gets along with Daniel Bryan and Wade Barrett very well. Ryback said he travels alone, works out alone, eats alone and goes back to Vegas alone. He said he’s not there to be buddy-buddy with everyone.

O’Doyal Ruulez! I dont think The Phenom would even consider facing ryback at wrestlemania. Only people undertaker should face are john cena, brock lesnar or the rock

  • Donna

Ryback rules! Unfortunately, he has a lot of stupid, ignorant, pathetic excuses for human beings hating on him & throwing personal digs & insults at him nonstop.Im a big Ryback fan. I don’t put down other WWE stars when I complement Ryback. “Others” put Ryback down trying to promote CM Punk,Undertaker etc. I don’t expect everyone to be a Ryback fan, but I DO EXPECT them to at LEAST have enough respect for him as a FELLOW HUMAN BEING, not to try & dog him out. Most of his critics are Losers that are so miserable in their everyday existence, they only way the can stand one more day of being”themselves” is to put someone else down. That’s their only form of control over their misery. Ryback is a good wrestler & a very good human being.F— his critics & haters. They should NOT be allowed to walk around & “Express” their made up versions of what they “Think” in the same society that we all are in. 2 MIDDLE FINGERS TO THEM ALL!!!!!!

    • http://www.wrestlingnewsworld.com/ Richard Gray

I criticize Ryback because I think he’s had multiple opportunities to prove his worth as a top guy and isn’t any further along than he was this time last year. It’s nothing personal either. He’s had chances and he hasn’t shown he’s capable of working at the top of the card.

      • Fact

You go out of your way to criticize him. The one WNW someone said they were sick of Del Rio, and you brought Ryback up out of nowhere and started ripping him. It’s obvious Ryback hasn’t worked but the way you and your staff go after him is ridiculous and unprofessional.

        • http://www.wrestlingnewsworld.com/ Richard Gray

Unprofessional to have an opinion? WWE force feeds us a guy that hasn’t drawn at all. It hasn’t worked, is not working and I’ll use my voice to express that. Again, he’s fine in the mid-card but not a main event performer. Not everyone can be “the guy” but there are a need for “role players.”

          • Fact

Drawing? He was getting solid reactions as a face when he was feuding with CM Punk the 1st time. And I still remember you blaming him for low ratings. Why haven’t you blamed Daniel Bryan for the low ratings now?

          • http://www.wrestlingnewsworld.com/ Richard Gray

Never blamed Ryback for low ratings. Ratings are much more complex than just blaming one particular worker. We can start analyzing PPV buys but that’s still not a very fair or accurate thing to do.

          • Steve pritchard

Solid reactions? The fans couldnt shout goldberg loud enough! Why does this site not blame d bryan for bad ratings ? Because hes not the reason for bad ratings. Ryback has had chance after chance to shine but has failed miserably each time. I agree with richard , if you cant have a good match with jehrico you just cant with any one. He has absolutely no business facing undertaker at mania what so ever period!

        • Jesse Sherwood

I know you can’t be talking about the entire staff in that comment, as I have actually said that his work has been decent and even praised him in RIB two weeks ago. Is he all over the board with his ring work and his promos? Yes. Is he frequently unsafe in the ring? Yes. Has he had many opportunities that just haven’t worked out well? Yes he has. But I still think he might just have some value to him. He shows signs of brilliance in the ring and on the mic, and with Heyman helping him refine his mic work and expressions, he could very well have a breakout moment in the next year.

          • http://www.wrestlingnewsworld.com/ Richard Gray

There’s value in Ryback… absolutely. His size alone (6’3/300) makes him an asset but he’s not a main eventer. It’s like The Great Khali. I’m fine with him tagging with Santino and doing comedy while also carrying all of India with him. However, I’m completely against him challenging for the World title. Similar situation with Ryback. Secondary title holder or even a tag team run – I’m fine with both. I’m not fine with constant PPV main events when there is a list a mile long of guys that don’t get the opportunities.

          • Fact

I’m sorry I didn’t mean the entire staff. Specifically it was KB. I also want to say I enjoy all of your work and respect all of your opinions. I don’t want it to seem like I’m bashing this staff because I think this without a doubt the best wrestling website. I just feel it’s one thing to not like a worker and say they haven’t worked out. It’s another thing to rip him like some have done here.

2 Thumbs Up For An Honest Person!

    • Nostaljack

Ryback! Posting on WNW! How cool is this?

      • Just Saying

And if not at least it’s Kool that his mommy goes on WNW to defend her little boy .. Lol .. Oh, “Donna”

        • Donna

Your Mom Would Of, But Then She Would Have To Acknowledge Her Secret Bastards Existence!

      • Nostaljack

Ryback! Down-voting me on WNW! How cool is this?

      • Donna

It’s Not Ryback Moron. He’s Obviously, Smarter Than I Am & Wouldn’t Waste His Breath Arguing With Imbeciles!

    • Rus

Wow Iv always heard of crazy wrestling fans that give the rest of us a bad name but you Donna are taking things to a new level, are really need to settle down and STOP USING CAPSLOCK because your the only one on this entire site (including the trolls) who is acting stupid, ignorant, pathetic excuses for human being. Now this is when I should remind you that it is all fake and to maybe invest your passion into a real sport instead of insulting people over a childrens tv show

      • Donna

Speaking Of Trolls, TROLL, Shouldn’t You Be Getting Back As The Sun Will Be Setting Soon?

  • smark calloway

    that crazy ryback

  • Donna

To the “SPECIAL” people that are STILL GRASPING AT STRAWS TO FIND A “REASON” TO CRITICIZE RYBACK, MATCHES ARE PRE-DETERMINED! Which means the COMPANY(WWE) DECIDES WHO WINS & WHO LOSES!!!!! PRE-DETERMINED MEANS DETERMINED BEFORE(BEFORE THE MATCH EVEN HAPPENED!!!!!)FOR THE ULTRA STUPID; SOMEONE IN THE BACK DECIDED RYBACK WAS NOT GOING TO WIN & GET PINNED!!!!!!! IT’S NOT RYBACK ABILITY THAT LOSES MATCHES OR HAS KEPT HIM FROM A TITLE, IT’S THE ASS HOLES IN THE BACK MAKING THESE DECISIONS! HATE ON THE DECISION MAKERS! YOU CAN’T ALL BE THIS STUPID CAN YOU????????????

    • EricDraven86

We realize all of this. We do not like him for losing, we just do not like him. Next time you assume others are stupid, look in the mirror to be sure it is not you.

      • Donna

You don’t even make sense.”We don’t like him cause we just don’t” Thats why I called you stupid, STUPID! Your the same people that chanted “Rocky Sucks” for months only to say later,”The Rocks My Boy.” “I Eat Pie Too Rock!” .Obviously, Vince Sees His Value. Again, blame a big guy because he’s not a”technician” or “flyer” You Guys Just Don’t Want To Like Ryback. So, it doesn’t matter what he’s capable of, or how hard he’s working to improve what he needs to improve, you will just find a new reason to criticize him. Thank God Vince is the deciding factor & his record SHOWS he’s not an amateur. He’s not where he’s at by making STUPID “Opinionated” decisions.
        RYBACK RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Nostaljack

Ryback! Screaming on WNW! Even cooler!

    • http://www.wrestlingnewsworld.com/ Richard Gray

Yeah, it has nothing to do with who “wins” and who “loses.” He was hand fed Chris Jericho at WWE Money in the Bank and still couldn’t get it done. Again, it’s nothing personal. Ryback has a great look but I’ve seen nothing about his in-ring work that makes me think he can be a top guy.

      • Xavier

To be fair though, a win over Jericho doesn’t mean jack nowadays. Jericho jobbed as much as 3MB in his last run.

        • http://www.wrestlingnewsworld.com/ Richard Gray

If you can’t have a good match with Jericho, then who can you have a good match with?

          • Xavier

I thought his matches with Cena at Extreme Rules & Payback were very good actually. I really didn’t think Jericho was all that good this past run he had. Most will disagree with me but I just wasn’t impressed by his in ring work or his promos when he came back in late 2011/early 2012, it was a far cry from the greatness we got from Jericho back in 2008-2009.

          • Donna

Your someone who isn’t miserable in their everyday life. Your being honest. Most people, after you said what you said, will find the next”Hate Factor” to criticize Ryback on. Don’t take my word for it, just be neutral & read different post. If your not a “hater” you’ll see what I’m saying.Im surprised people aren’t blaming him for the price of silver going down yesterday.(Watch That Will Be His Next Fault)

          • Hannibal Lector

The match at Payback was absolutely terrible…

          • Xavier

Not at all actually, it was really good. But guess we’ll have to agree to disagree

          • Hannibal Lector

It was the worst 3 stages of hell match in history. The Last Man Standing match was good at ER but the rematch at Payback was anything but.

          • devin steele

the whole ppv was terrible! a waste of $45

          • Tom

I’ve seen LOTS of good wrestlers not have good matches with Jericho.

        • Donna

          THANK YOU!

    • Avalanchian

Omg someone needs to lower their tone a bit. No one will take all caplock serious.

  • Donna

& To The “Special Person” who said,”Ryabck has had multiple opportunities to proves his worth but he’s blew them”What is wrong with you? If he wanted to, he could “shelve” a lot of the others. He can only use so much of his strength so not to”really” hurt them. Multiple Opportunities? THEY’RE PRE-DETERMINED! HIS ABILITY & WRESTLING DIDN’T HAVE A DAMN THING TO DO WITH HIM LOSING! HIS BOSSES,WWE, DECIDED HE WAS GOING TO LOSE! RYBACK DIDN’T BLOW *MULTIPLE OPPORTUNITIES FOR HIMSELF*,WWE DID! WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU THAT YOU CAN NOT COMPREHEND THAT??????????????????????????????????????????????

    • http://www.wrestlingnewsworld.com/ Richard Gray

Again, you’re missing the point. Ryback went over Jericho at Money in the Bank… He still looked average in the ring. Average/below average in-ring, average/below average on the mic and a good look do not equate to a main event superstar. He’s better suited in a mid-card role.

      • JeanAE

Richard, he just doesn’t understand it. No sense in trying to converse with a brick wall.

  • Xavier

How great would it have been if WWE creative made this Ryback’s gimmick. Clearly the IWC doesn’t like him so why not capitalize on that and turn Ryback into a anti-IWC guy were he constantly cuts promos ripping the internet. I actually think that would work, he’d receive massive heel heat

    • smark calloway

only a tiny tiny percentage of the audience are iwc or ” smart fans ” that check out a wrestling news site everyday ( ive heard its only like 10 percent or something ) the rest of the audience wouldnt know/or care what he was going on about if he started bad mouthing the online wrestling community .its why storylines ,angles or interviews that are catered to smart fans that vince russo and numerous others have tried to do throughout the years ( especially in wcw and tna ) have never drawn big money or connected with the audience . and i know certain guys like punk like to use inside terms sometimes and say things that we iwc’ers will mark out for ( hey even cena has done it ..remember when he done his little dance in the ring during a promo and said ” maybe i should do a little heel turn ” ) but for the most part things like that go right over the audiences head

      • http://www.wrestlingnewsworld.com/ Richard Gray

This is true. On an average Monday 40,000 people will visit WNW but 4,000,000 watch Raw. Not even 10% there but if you add up the traffic from all the sites, you would probably land at somewhere close to 10% of the people that watch Raw.

      • Xavier

        Good point.

  • Donna

A lot has to do with his story lines. AGAIN, NOT HIS DOING. LIKE MOST PEOPLE WITH A JOB, YOU DO WHAT YOUR BOSS TELLS YOU ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU HAVE A NON STOP OF NEW PEOPLE THAT WOULD LOVE YOUR JOB.The fans are ass holes that go to the arena & yell insults non stop at him. I don’t think he’s given the chances, for whatever reason, to do all that he’s capable of. Look at when he first started, he was great, STILL GREAT NOW, Personally, I think someone in WWE is trying to sabotage him or WWE creative is retarded/on HULLUCINAGENICS, should fire the story tellers In the back & hire someone who actually has creative talent.

    • http://www.wrestlingnewsworld.com/ Kendra Bunyon

There’s a difference between going in, doing your job with a bad attitude, and only doing the minimum to get by while blaming everyone else for everything that goes wrong, and going in with a great attitude, working hard to shine above the rest, and going above and beyond to prove that you should be the one to get the promotion and pushed to the next level. Ryback has done nothing to shine through, and can’t get through a match with a top guy without badmouthing them after it’s all said and done. So doing what your boss tells you is relative.

  • Justin Lal

RYBACK DIDN’T BLOW HIS PUSH. It wasn’t blown by anyone. It was just a matter of circumstances and bad timing. WWE had to make a decision between keeping Punk’s reign going, putting the title on The Rock, and keeping Ryback strong.

    • Nostaljack

Disagree. Rybread blew his push by not being any good. His mic work is shaky, his ring work is shakier, and people are still screaming “Goldberg” far too much. He’s not “over”; that’s what blew his push.

      • http://www.wrestlingnewsworld.com/ Richard Gray

The booking did him no favors but he’s had chances where the pressure was completely off. Booked to go over Jericho on PPV in a match that didn’t rely on him being the headliner… and he looked pretty darn average (at best) to me.

        • Nostaljack

He’s been average all the way around. We just can’t blame booking here. CM Punk didn’t become successful because of booking; he became successful because he’s just that good. Ditto on Daniel Bryan. People care about them because they’re good at what they do. Heck, Bryan got over on the word “YES!” LOL! He took lemons and made the sweetest tasting lemonade anyone’s ever had. Rybread has had success handed to him and he’s fumbled…repeatedly.

          • http://www.wrestlingnewsworld.com/ Richard Gray

Continuing where you left off… Bryan handled an NXT humbling, a Wrestlemania rib and even a firing in there. Every time WWE has tried to destroy him, he keeps popping right back up. Why? He’s better than everyone else.

          • Chris

Not that anyone has doubted it, but Daniel Bryan even made Ryback look good in their matches a little bit back. Ryback needs get the Regal treatment that Goldberg got back in the day. Put him in there with an old school worker who’s not going to just put his ass over, make him WORK to get a win. The ONLY way I would be in favor of him being up against Undertaker at WrestleMania would be if they told Undertaker to go out and give him an ass kicking he’ll remember the rest of his life. The man needs to be humbled and I hate to say it, but it’s probably going to take someone legitimately beating the piss out of him. Ask Public Enemy how that felt…

          • devin steele

            amen brother!

      • RYBACK

nostaljerk, you and the rest of the online peons need to stop calling me rybread , i dont like it ! you need to stop disrespecting my mother donna on here too! you need to stop being so negative and learn how to live your lives like me ..the big beautiful man ryback ! do you know how hard it is to march around the ring like me , or how hard it is to try to memorize your lines every monday night.. or how hard it is to be called goldberg everyday . i wish people would call me ryback or even ryan would be nice :) ..but im trying my best, i really am..but the guys carrying me through the matches arent feeding me their moves very well…they need to feed me more !!..none of this is my fault , its you guys fault , and managements fault and the other wrestlers fault, its even goldbergs fault …. but remember kids ,.. ryback rules :D

        • Nostaljack

I feel kinda bad critiquing you and all. It forced you to bust a cranial blood vessel coming up with “nostaljerk”. Perhaps I’ve been too harsh…

…nah, I kinda nailed it. Yer the most…to say the least.

        • Donna

Bet You Wish You Were Ryback. Thats Probably The First Time In Your Life, You Felt Like A Real Man.

          • RYBACK

sorry mom . .i wont use your laptop again :( x

      • Bob

Your Just Hating On Ryback PEROID! People Are Chanting Goldberg Because some Idiot At WWE.Com Said He Channeled Goldberg Before His Matches. You Just Hate Ryback Because Your Life Sucks & So Do You!

        • Nostaljack

Ryback’s dad! Trolling on WNW! Even cooler still!

        • RYBACK

you tell em dad :) . thats what i told em , i did x

  • kingdook24

Okay… let Ryback face Undertaker @ Wrestlemania.

    Let Ryback win.

Let’s see how long he would last from the mobs of angry fans.

But back to reality, I honestly don’t see anyone breaking the streak… ever. If it was going to be broken, I believe HBK had the best chance. Stone Cold & Hogan will never job to Undertaker @ WM, I believe. I know Rock would probably job. Yeah – I really don’t see ANYONE breaking the streak & wanting to live with that burden.

    • http://www.wrestlingnewsworld.com/ Richard Gray

If they were going to end the streak it had to have happened by now. I was as in favor as I’ve ever been about it ending this year due to the payoff it would give Punk. Now, Undertaker should retire undefeated.

      • kingdook24

Well said, Rich. Also – this is my first message that you actually replied to. Awesome. Great site by way – keep up the great work. About to become a subscriber soon.

  • Avalanchian

Is it safe to say Gillberg > Ryback?

  • Rus

Havent even listened to the interview just love all the debates about Cryback

  • K!NG

over 60 some comments on a ryback article hmm i guess people care more about him then they say they do

  • _JIM_

Boy, and you wonder why us sucky fans give you such a hard time, and think that you’re a jerk Ryback? Maybe, just maybe it’s because of things like this. Talk about letting your gimmick go to your head. Geesh… And he should be saying having Paul Heyman with me is the best thing to ever happen to me because it is about the only way I am ever going to be able to get over. Because I sure couldn’t do it myself even though I have been pushed like crazy by the owner of the company on quite a few occasions now. Hey Ryback, I have just one more thing to say to you, GOOOOLDBERG!!
